    • @flaria185
      @flaria185 2 місяці тому +31

      That was how it was before gen 6, Since most people's highest level pokemon is their starter, they would be used more and thus be higher level than everyone else. If you didnt level up your team purposely, you'd have an overleveled starter that destroys every battle😂

      The EXP share in the 3DS games isn't so bad since you still had the option to turn it off, but when they made it mandatory in the Switch Pokémon games, that's where it became a problem, because now they removed the option to let the player train other Pokémon. Maybe if you could fight with more than one Pokémon at a time for every match, then fine, but you can't!

      But not when their whole job is to take care of them and raise them. It's unacceptable for an elite 4 member or late game gym leader to not have 6 pokemon. It'd be like a coach only fielding 4 players in a game of soccer. It's blatantly throwing the game.

    I 100% believe every single game should be locked to only having that gen's Pokémon in the region to catch until the post-game. Black and White was goated for that. Nothing annoys me more than seeing cross-generational Pokémon filling up spots in trainers' teams and the tall grass in what are supposed to be showcases of the new region's Pokémon

    • @verdragon5591
      @verdragon5591 2 місяці тому +5

      I disagree, I like having a mix of old Pokemon with the new, because it can, for example, put Pokemon that you couldn't catch until near the end of the game (when you have no real room left to train a new party member) near the start or middle, IE Pawniard, a pretty late-game Pokemon in Unova, appearing in the mid-game of X and Y, or a bunch of past pseudo-legendaries having their first forms catchable at a plateau just south of Mesagoza in Scarlet and Violet.
      I do definitely think that the new Pokemon should be front and center, particularly in trainer teams, and that they should introduce more new Pokemon per generation, closer to 100 or above instead of 80-90.

    Fun fact Pokémon fusing with humans is not a fan idea as there is an actual manga about it called Pokémon Reburst which debuted in the March 9, 2011 issue of Weekly Shōnen Sunday and has never been translated to English.
    Trainers having more Pokémon is not a bad thing but i agree it is better to space the trainers out but does add to the challenge when important trainers like gym leaders, rivals, etc. Have 6 mons latter on in the game. It is to me another reason why the gen 6 games are so easy as not only do you have megas a mechanic hardly anyone in the game has, but they didn't balance around it like a lot of fan games that have megas do so like previous games the vast majority of npcs have less mons and sometimes worse movesets than you which made the games a breeze.

    Hot take: Pokémon was a better “kids game” on the Gameboy than it is on the Switch. I’ve been playing Sword with my kid sister (8) for a little bit now and what I’ve noticed is that all the cutscenes and story dialogue are really wearing her down.
    She’s only 8 so having to read walls of text in order to understand what’s going on is challenging considering that she’s still learning how to read, not helped by all the British slang used that’s unfamiliar to an 8-year-old American.
    There’s also the problem of all the cutscenes. She doesn’t really care about the story, she just wants to catch cute monsters and explore this video game, and I can’t blame her, that’s how I played video games at her age.
    At the beginning of the game, all she wanted to do was go back to her house and explore it, but there was so much hand holding, she couldn’t even go near her home. She got frustrated and I had to talk her into pushing through.
    I could tell she wasn’t having fun and that upset me because I was really excited to introduce her to the games and franchise I loved as a kid. She loves the cards and I thought that playing through the game together could be a good bonding experience and even help her with her reading skills. I knew the game was dialogue heavy, but I didn’t anticipate it being this much of an issue.
    When I was younger, I played the Gen 2 and 3 games (on emulator, but still) and they were a blast. Now granted, I was already a bit older than her and I had better reading skills but I think that they were much better experiences for a young player simply because they were simpler and allowed for more freedom. They still required reading ability, but there was less to read and no real cutscenes to stop and wait for. I think that’s what made them appealing to kids to begin with, and I think some of that has been lost the modern titles.
    Now, it has been a while since I played these games and I don’t even think I finished them, so I could be misremembering things, but that’s just how I feel as a big brother and someone interested in education and education through non-traditional means such as video games. It’s just my opinion, and I’m willing to hear yours.

    I don't think this is actually a hot take but: There's nothing androgynous about Gardevoir despite the mental gymnastics that some vocal minority makes to pretend that they don't see how feminine Gardevoir actually is and always has been.
    I've seen people getting a lot of hate just for saying that they want Kirlia to only be able to evolve into Gardevoir if it's female. Which is utter nonsense because they aren't saying anything weird. Kirlia should definitely only evolve into Gardevoir if female.
    I always make sure to catch a female Ralts when I'm planning to have a Gardevoir in my team. And I honestly wish they make the evolution line to only be able to evolve into Gardevoir if female in the new games.
    Pokemon is no stranger to making pokemon that are intentionally designed with one specific gender in mind. Gardevoir was always meant to be portrayed as feminine. Some people just get confused by the japanese name but that's actually a full on misinterpretation since Sirknight due to the way is pronounced can be read as Saa-knight which roughly translates to "Come here, knight".
    They could even use the pokedex entries to say that the Ralts line is naturally evolving into being a gender based evolution. Similar to how the wormadam/mothim line currently works. And that way they could justify Kirlia only evolving into Gardevoir if female in the new games.
    But an excuse isn't even necessary because they've already made changes to the ralts line in the past like adding the fairy type and adding it to the human-like group. Not to mention that Gardevoir's portrayal in pretty much all forms of media has been exclusively female. So I hope for them to also adjust the gender ratios for Gardevoir to be female only and that way be consistent with its design and portrayal. In fact, they've already started to do that for things like the tera raids battles with certain pokemon. Pokemon like eevee, meganium, delphox and primarina, which are overall clearly seen as feminine looking had been added to the tera raid den events exclusively as females.
    I mentioned Gardevoir but this idea also extends to other pokemon in the same situation like Machamp, Lopunny and Gothitelle, which were clearly designed with a specific gender in mind for their concepts and designs. Gardevoir is just the most known example.

    Hot Takes: the classes and their subsequent teacher quests in SV are pretty fun. Saguaro, Tyme, Hassel, and Jacq’s especially.
    While telling Kieran about Ogrepon sooner would have been better, I do get why Carmine didn’t want to tell him. Granted, she could have been a bit more tactful/nicer about it towards Kieran, but not wanting him run off makes sense.
    Leon being unbeatable isn’t an issue, rather SwSh telling over showing. Love the games, but they do have a telling over showing issue.
    Might not be the hottest of takes, but there’s nothing wrong with liking Charizard. Does it get a lot of exposure to the point it’s overrated/overused? Sure, but if someone likes it, that’s okay. For instance, while I’d say Blaziken is my favorite Starter, I do like the orange pseudo Dragon.

Kieran already has a very strong love for the ogre and going off how the modern day people see the Loyal 3 and how it affected their ancestors who stood up for them, it's not an unjustified assumption that Kieran might proclaim that he was right to the townsfolk and then who who knows what kind of consequences would come from that action. @@theamazingspooderman2697 I don't disagree that Pokémon in general may have a problem with telling over showing as someone who's played every game but the Alolan and Johto games. At the same time, one of the criticisms I've heard with SwSh specifically is how the whole Eternatus plot and Rose's plan doesn't have a whole lot of build up (yes, the same could be said about Platinum, however, as a third instalment, players would have already encountered Giratina in DP, Giratina just needed to be integrated into the Spear Pillar encounter). That and how Leon's referred to the "Undefeated Champion".
      Both of these could easily be fixed by having something that a) something that references Eternatus while Sonia's investigating the whole Darkest Day, the Heroes, and Zacian/Zamazenta, maybe even a plot involving Bede asking the player to help figure out why Rose wanted the Wishing Stars, and b) either reduce the amount of times Leon is referred to as unbeatable and/or have the players witness a battle or two Leon's in. Credit where it's due, I appreciate that they tried to approach not expecting the player, a child/teen, to take on the legendary from a story perspective. But from a player's perspective, not being involved at all until the climax doesn't help.
      As for the school stuff, I can see where you're coming from, however, I'd argue at least one of the classes does serve a purpose. That being Saguaro's (Home Ec). In the lesson about making sandwiches with friends (via the Union Room for players), he essentially name drops/implies that Arven is the student who needs help improving. If you invite Saguaro and Arven to the BB League Club Room, Arven will essentially thank Saguaro because Saguaro was right when he said meals taste better with friends.

    Hyped up, the Gen 6 rep in _Smash for_ (yes that is the official shorthand), given a huge role in the XY anime and even given a whole ass unique form, and was voted the most popular Pokémon in a Japanese poll.
    Only for them to throw it out the following generation by dumping that unique form unceremoniously in a demo and being one of if not the only Pokmon to *lose* a unique form. It'd be like they just removed Dusk form Lycanroc. Oh yeah and it's not that popular anymore in those polls either (Dedenne won 1st place once so I wouldn't put the most faith in them to begin with).
