Hallo Martijn. Prachtige beelden.
Hello, I am the owner of an xt660z, and as we all know the suspension is not good, I am thinking of changing forks and I would like to ask you several questions, could you tell me which bike the fork and seatposts come from? Have you had any problem mounting them? Is the new geometry of the bike okay? Thanks for your attention!
Hi Mattias. We rode the northern (lake district, yorkshire dales, peak district and wales). We skipped the south because we ran out of time. Have a great ride!
Mooi apparaat. Enfin, lekker bezig!
Dire Straits altijd lekker!

I see you replaced the forks and wheels on the XT660z. Could you please advise what donor bike you took them from, what was involved with the conversion and was it worth it for the performance gains. Excellent video BTW. Thanks.
Hi, it's not my bike but the forks are from a KTM 640 ADV. There was quite a weigh saving and the fork was adjustable. It was quite a pain to install. I remember that he would not do it again as it remains a relative heavy bike. If you are planning to keep the bike for a long period of time it might be worth the hassle.
@@JolanNC29 Many thanks. Weight saving was my main motivation but better adjustability would be nice also. I'll do some research into parts availability and price.
TTR was running T63, not available anymore, XT660 was on Heidenau's I think, he regretted it as the tyre was too road orientated for the tracks we rode
Hi Gilbert, we rode the northern (lake district, yorkshire dales, peak district and wales). We skipped the south because we ran out of time. Have a great ride!
We did about 2/3 of the route. Mainly the north (Lake district) and west (Wales). Sometimes we skipped small sections because of the weather or difficulity. Apart from the many fences its really a nice route!
Great video. Looks like an excellent route. I have a 660z also. Is it a difficult bike to do a TET on? I see you have soft panniers. Do you think it would be unwise to do that route with hard panniers? Would love to try the TET maybe next year.
The right bike is always difficult to answer. It depends on your skill, if your new to riding offroad, a lighter bike will be easier and more enjoyable. But I have seen people on UA-cam doing the most insane stuff on big GS and KTM's as well. With our amateur skill level the 660 is perfect for 90% of the route in England, I can't speak for other parts in Europe. Some small sections we skipped or detoured because of the difficulty. I do recommend going with someone else. About the luggage...we "like" crashing as you can see,. As a result I like soft panniers because they take the impact better and are less likely to be destroyed in a fall and are more easy to repair if necessary. But everything is possible with the right mindset and expectations.
Super cool video. I noticed that you had on the TTR a gps. How did you power it? Do you have a 12V socket? How is it connected since you don't have a batery. Many thanks
I installed a small fuse kit (with relay) from Eastern Beaver www.easternbeaver.com/ behind the head light to switch two 12V sockets. I use the light switch to switch the relay. I always start without light the get the best spark for starting.
