I like your analysis and your digressions based on personal perspective. Sometimes you seem to ask or say, "Where is Hobbes coming from with this point?" It is a little different (though not negative) to me to experience anyone engaging with Hobbes without ever mentioning the name Oliver Cromwell. This text all gets thought and written within the context of the War of Three Kingdoms (or the English Civil War/s... it gets renamed in different circles from time to time) and the waxing and waning powers of the Stuart monarchy. Hobbes was a royalist as he was a client of royalist aristocratic patrons (I think he was even the tutor of Chuck II) who reaches a sort of "celebrity" within The Restoration (i.e. the reestablishment of the Stuart monarchy under Chuck II)... I am not a historian or a historiographer (or however that term is applied adjacently to philosophers or political scientists) but having some context here helps to understand Hobbes through his biases. This is not to say Hobbes has no independent thought or personal integrity (or that he necessarily does) but who and how different people and agents benefit under his system tend to line up with those he is aligned with according to his circumstances. Thanks for your work here.
