    Yes, Noemi, Take your time. You dont have to have everything done at once. Just little by little and enjoying life while you do it. You will have plenty of content for your channel. I get so happy each time I see your video pop up. You are so smart and even though I am old enough to be your mother, you have taught me so many things. One thing I love about you is that when something is not working, you change it. Blessings to you and your sweet family.

    With the rate of water coming out, I’m wondering if there is a spring there. If so, build a pond and siphon off what you need for your garden watering. Also, hire an Arborist to make a plan for the forest and mark the trees to come down first. You might be able to save some of them. Such interesting projects in your future. Can’t wait!

    Wow, Zsolt running heavy equipment - he really can do everything. You two are perfectly matched. ❤
    My SIL and daughter's land is like that - no drainage. They've been living there nearly 10 yrs and complain every year. Noemi, you all have lived there 10 minutes and already fixing the problem! Another fabulous video Noemi. I loved to see you and your boys test out the flooring, that looked fun. So glad you are getting to grips with the water issue. I'm surprised that that wasn't pointed out in the property details pre-sale. Where I live, surveyors assess inside and outside so that new buyers know in advance any potential issues. You and your husband are so upbeat and positive, I think you can both tackle any problem that's thrown your way due to your enthusiasm. What an adorable family you are. 💞😊

    Once you remove some of the evergreen trees, the water runoff will decrease. The soil will hold more water like a rain garden. Diverting water away from the house, I think, is the best solution since you are planning topographical changes to your property that will affect the way the water behaves. Using the dead tree trunks for the raised beds and shredded tree mulch for the walkways are a permaculture practice (no inputs; no outputs). You've got the perfect property and knowledge to be a permaculturist!

      Thank you, our plan is to buy a wood chipper that will be very handy for sure!😊🌲

    • @ctab4689
      @ctab4689 3 роки тому +5

      @@ScandishHome For sure! We have a SunJoe electric wood chipper that I LOVE! It handles up to 1.5" branches in diameter. I wanted something to handle larger branches but after much research and talking to others, they all recommended a gas-powered machine. But gas-powered machines need small engine maintenance, fuel and spark plugs while an electric chipper just needs an outlet. The SunJoe takes care of 90% of my needs. The other 10%, I'll just pay someone or rent a larger chipper/shredder when needed.

    I’d say with it bubbling up like that it is a natural spring. That is amazing to have! Take advantage of the free water if it is a natural spring. I’ve seen another UA-cam family, Loftis Party of Six, have a natural spring. They ended up having a good enough source that they are using it for all of their water and power to be off grid.

    Huw Richards is wonderful! He has a UA-cam channel. What a hard-working and lovely young man. I'm excited to see how you implement some of his ideas. It's wonderful that you get to plant such a big garden. About watering it - you might consider getting rain barrels to collect the run off from the roof. I agree with others who commented that they could watch your videos every day! They are wonderful!

    I'm loving your vlogs and I can't wait to see more as we are saving every cent so we can buy our first home with a bit of land for a veggie garden too.
    I also thought that maybe you could sell off some of those trees to a timber mill who would log it and take it away or you could ask a horticultural college if they would be interested in using the timber (old tree farm) to teach students on logging, felling, timber removal, tree growth and care...again helping you and others at the same time.

    Noemi, when you mentioned Huw Richard's book and youtube channel, because I have spring fever too I immediately (after finishing yours :) went over and watched his video from 9 January, and there was one of my very favorite youtubers, Liz Zorab!!! She talks about studying your property over time and also, like yours, a very peaceful and inspiring channel.

    Hello family! I started the morning refreshed. Looking forward for inspiration from you guys. Loving all the projects and looking forward to coming on the ride with you. Your music; I love. You are definitely better than the news today. I think the house is perfect for you guys. I know is a lot of work but this pandemic has allowed us to think outside the box and we are able to appreciate our homes, family and friends more.
    I’m so excited for you all. Love to see the smiles on the boys. Stay safe and strong.

    This video brought me back to when we first bought our house. We didn't have grass really because there were so many pine trees. My husband and his friends took out between 80-100 pine trees. It took a long time to get it all out and grass growing but we are so glad we did it. I'm sure yours will look wonderful when it's all finished. Sometimes things have to get messy before they look beautiful xo Noemi!

    Hello Noemi! I’m so glad you guys are figuring out your water situation at your new home. My parents have issues with natural springs in their yard too and it’s been a difficult problem to solve for them and expensive. Your children are so wonderful for how they help you and Zsolt with your projects. It establishes strong family bonds. You have such a nice family. I’m also gathering my materials and planning for my garden too. I love to see how you do things in your garden. I still haven’t been brave enough to buy chickens though. You inspire me to get some! I’m really look forward to your kitchen remodel!!! You must be excited for that too! It was difficult when I remodeled mine 2 years ago. We were living in our house while remodeling and we do not eat out or get takeaway because of my gluten allergies and other food allergies so it was really challenging cooking while remodeling. But we survived it! I can’t wait to see your upcoming videos! Stay safe and well! Thank you for sharing your home improvements with us!!!

    Great job with the water redirecting. Water is so beautiful but can do so much damage. I'm sure you've already thought of plans to use it as irrigation for your greenhouse. The old trees are going to be a great supply of wood for building your fencing. Have fun.
