When scraping away the finish in the rectangular area on the guitar’s top where the bridge will be mounted: What is the name of the tool being held like a pencil? (Not the chisel). I really, really respect this work.
I like to "float" the bridge onto the top with as little distortion as possible. As the top is slightly domed, a flat bridge would cause some (although not much) torquing.
Amazing attention to detail. The only thing I didn't fully understand - the need to flatten the blank to the top before doing any other machining. Is that to eliminate built-in stress that might occur if you were to just glue it up after the bridge was complete? It would easily conform once glued/clamped so I'm guessing you're trying to eliminate any strange stresses against the joint and/or the top - correct? I've always just flattened after the rest of the machining was done - pre glue-up.
Tioga Fretworks acoustic guitars have an arched top. If you were to glue a flat piece of wood to an arch and force it to conform it would eventually fail. Better to form pieces to each other for a better fit. Take the time and do it right.
Hi. reat video. Is the shown acrylic pattern that you use custom made? Can you give me some information bout the router bit that you use in your dremel tool? thanks
I had heard the "wings" on sides of the bridge are a slightly different thickness, I.E., thinner on the treble side for resonance, any truth to that? Thanks btw, nice builds
Looks like a need a table saw, and a drimal with an attachment to do routing.. Then I can build a bridge. So do you take orders? I need one that I cant seem to find since the one I had on it faild do to string tension :(... Cant find one that is 6 and 3/8 inch and a 3 inch center with 2 inch string spacing
i do not quite understand your comment. My 1978 LP included all three parts. John williams beat me to the punch and did t 1000 times better than me. I got the last two parts from the DiGiorgio book and the first section from a good Venezuelan player. I passed that first part along to Rico Stover as it was a different version from the several ones he already had. I have heard that the first part was composed last. Very likely true. Rico is something of an authority on Barrios. Anyone who remembers Barrios playing live would be over 90yo now.
That was very nice... very very very nice
Wonderful work
The best bridge tutorial, Thanks Master!!!
Your expertise is showing.

Great video--thanks
Wuauuuu impresionante!!!
That is so fulfilling.
I would have done it so differently. I'm glad I saw your video first. Thanks for taking the time to teach us ametures.
I'm sure there are many ways to build a bridge . . . this is just the way I do it. I'm glad it was helpful.
