    Best review I’ve seen (and I’ve seen many) on elucidating subtle differences in driving experience.

    I wanted to comment on the iDrive situation. Being a BMW enthusiast, I’ve driven everything from the first gen E92 3 series era setup to current. This iDrive is a MASSIVE improvement over the first gen software. I’m also glad they have been incorporating touch capability. Using the controller with one dedicated menu button was an absolute nightmare, so I’m thrilled to see the evolution of this system. Additionally, Apple CarPlay/android auto is available wireless using NFC communication

    I work at BMW and I’ve sold the new X5 to people who are 65+ and they’ve never had a single issue navigating the iDrive system.. nor has anyone I’ve met.

      There’s no way that’s true, there’s 65 year olds that struggle to even work a DVD player lol.

      I know 25 year olds that have the same issues. It's not strictly about age, but also aptitude.

    If BMW has a fault, it's that the technology is very clever but their staff are not particularly well trained in how to use it! I have a 3.0d x-line arriving in July and it does concern me that I will find it frustratingly difficult to learn.

    Nice review, Matt! I'm not a big German car guy, but the X5 is nice. Drove a 2022 recently at the Toyota dealership I work at that was peppy, just not my cup of tea.

    Thanks for the great review, in your opinion is the Cayenne worth the extra money? Base model Cayenne vs X5 40i.

    • @MattMaranMotoring
      @MattMaranMotoring  4 роки тому +2

      I've never driven the current generation Cayenne so I can't say, but I think the Cayenne is cooler so I'd probably go for it if you can afford the price jump, but you are paying the "Porsche premium".

    I’m looking for a quiet ride for long road trips. Is it worth getting the air suspension?

      I think so.

    • @Wasabi9111

      Matt Maran Motoring I’m just worried abt the long term reliability of the air suspension - heard they don’t last long and costs thousands to fix.

      Yeah, I don't know how reliable these new ones will be but it's a valid concern for sure.

    I love it I just purchased a 2019 BMW X5, 5 days ago it is a great SUV it’s drive very nice, I see a lot of people head turn when I drive by, I am so glad I bought it but it is expensive vehicle but I don’t care about that because you only live once. My opinion there is no other better car out here in the range of a mid size luxury van, no one cannot beat the BMW world class cars.

    Did you try Sport + mode at all? If so, did the steering get a bit heavier? How 'bout throttle response? Thanks, Matt!

      I tried it briefly, and aside from more aggressive transmission behavior, I didn’t notice much difference.

    $60K+ worth of unreliability, tons of plastic components and high depreciation. Only a sucker would buy or lease this trash. I'm ready for BMW fanboys to attack me for speaking the truth.

      new technology will always be more unreliable than true and tested, not for the faint of heart for sure. I've read around the internet that BMW has been trying to work on theyre reliability (B58 engine maybe?), and with them working with Toyota on the Supra, I'm inclined to believe it. I don't think that Toyota would put their name on an unreliable car willy nilly. Only time will tell. I've also read that Mercedes is also working on their reliability. Who knows, maybe the Germans finally realized that building shit cars is not good business.

    • @zarbon700
      @zarbon700 5 років тому +2

      @@alejandrodeaza5891 Stop making excuses. Plastic isn't a new or advance technology. They are still using large amount of plastic parts in areas where they are known to fail quickly, isn't an attempt to improve reliability. BMW, Benz and Audi purposely continues to create cars that start to have lots of problems shortly after their warranty expires. They do this because they know their fanbase cares more about being flashy than having a reliable car, and they are willing to pay the expensive repair costs to drive a BMW, Benz or Audi. BMW, Benz and Audi make a fortune off repairs, so they aren't motivated to improve reliability. Why improve reliability when the suckers will continue to buy and repair your trash?
      I guarantee you Toyota isn't allowing BMW to use as many plastic parts and other poor parts like they do in their BMW vehicles. This why BMW isn't assembling the Supra for Toyota. Toyota is using Magna Steyr, one of the largest automotive parts suppliers in the world, to assemble the car for them.

      Over 200k miles in my e53 what are you talking about ?

    • @zarbon700
      @zarbon700 5 років тому

      @@aidenp5768 Your name proves you're a delusional BMW fanboy who has a low standard for reliability. I know your BMW e53 had a lot of issues and expensive repairs that you wouldn't have had if you brought a more reliable brand, but you won't admit it. BTW, It's not about just your personal experience. Reliability is determined on a per 100 vehicle ratio. How many mechanical or electrical issues develop per 100 vehicle. BMW has a high unreliability rate per 100 vehicle. That's a fact. Deal with it.
