I like this position for Coutinho a lot. The only problem of course is his height which means he's not gonna be the best for duels in the midfield area. But this position is so much better because now defensive minded teams can't just block Coutinho out of the game like before, instead he will always be a threat because now he's in a position where he can shoot at range comfortably which of course takes all the players in the box out of the game and leaves it up to the goalkeeper to prevent a goal. I wonder with this difference, would it have won us more games and kept us in the title race?
This kid is pure magic. If we can keep him and add a top striker and pacy winger it would be huge, Lacazette and Douglas Costa come to mind. As good as firmino is, if he can't get into the starting 11 next season that just shows how good a summer we would have had.
He's reached his potential in most ways, but I get the sense he can still learn more of the mental side before he peaks. Some things he does, you can tell he still experiments a little bit- players at their absolute peak typically don't do that.
