amon tobin's nailed jungle, nailed chilled out latin triphoppy vibes, nailed cinematic scores, nailed all the weird shit he does, so whats wrong with him nailing dubstep? which this tune shows.
@decrrr Dubstep is something you feel physicaly at tremendous volume, bass shakes your body giving you a good audio experience, you dont hear it... you feel the bass and your skull get cracked by the trebel sounds!
This is good as an experiment with dubstep but on the whole I agree with Typheem: if he were to release an album full of such tunes I doubt it'd be satisfying.

Im also into jazz, bossa nova etc, and the atmosphere of those songs appealed to me a lot, i just sucked all the flavors out of them by listening to them like a maniac for a buncha years....anyway will see what the next album's gonna be like when he finally releases it. this sounds distinctive to me but a bit sparse, a lot of recent tobin sounds like he's making dj tools for himself. liking this direction in beats more than foley room though

Well he has been collabing with a lot of people lately eg. Noisia, so it's understandable he would use their samples/techniques as an experiment.

This bass is far from tame.
