We were meant to be on the 1130 Jet2 flight back to Newcastle after 10 days in sunny Cala d'Or. The plane eventually took off at 1515 local time, sitting on the plane during the storm for two hours. It was crazy as the plane buffeted about on the ground, so glad we didn't actually take off!
We got home yesterday. We were delayed for about 2 hours.Palma airport very busy with so many delays.Grateful that we had such a beautiful holiday and arrived home safely.
We’ve just flown back today after being delayed a few hours waiting for the storm to pass. Crazy how quickly it changed. Palma airport was very very busy due to all the flights being delayed but it wasn’t too bad due to the airport being absolutely massive so don’t worry too much if you’re due to come home.
Thanks again Alex. It's always disappointing when you get poor weather, after waiting so long to get there. However, there's nothing you can do about it, apart from making the best of it. Most of the time you end up doing or finding something that ordinarily you wouldn't have done, which makes for a different holiday experience. Cheers 👍👍
Great video Alex. If you time (in seconds) from the flash to the thunder and multiply it by 330 you can tell how far the lightning is away in meters. A friend is in the chaos in Palma airport. Great information as usual. Best wishes, John
We’ve got relatives travelling to Santa Ponsa today. Hope they arrived safely with no delays. Looking forward to your September Weather update, especially 22nd onwards. Keep safe in stormy weather ❤️🐸
Omg we flew back to UK yesterday (Wed) and back again Sunday so missing it. What a sudden change! I knew this was coming last week though with all the heat and humidity. Always happrns but never lasts more than a few days. I remember tornados and hurricanes in August in years gone by. Take care everyone over the next couple of days x
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun🤣 my guardian angel was def watching over us. Just back fir A Level results tomorrow 🤞. Frirnds have been sending me videos. I really feel for stranded people. But it won't be for long. All take care 🙏❤️
We were stuck on the tarmac at the airport for about 4 hours. Jet 2 staff were good though and they were bringing water round and then were able to serve food so not too bad. It was an experience!!
Looking forward to your September video. I’ve been before at that time, in Paguera and it was lovely and warm, and not too busy , but as the hotel prices for my requirements are still eye wateringly high even in Sept/ beginning of Oct I am holding out for some last minute good deal
Great info Alex. I can't wait to book again but am waiting for shoulder surgery, so I can't plan anything yet. i love the island, and your videos are so informative, and that in turn is likely having 1st hand information on everything. Thankyou
Flying home tomorrow after 2 weeks in Pollença. Poor weather since Wednesday but we haven’t let it ruin our holiday. Hopefully the airlines will have caught up by tomorrow lunchtime.
We’ve had a heatwave in England, especially the south, had a tea spoon of rain and now hot and sunny again, glad it’s dropped from the 30s though, to much in the city.
Hi Alex,The storm hit quite strong in Palma Nova. Watched coming over the trees, the wind was quite strong also.Have read that british airline pilots are planning 3 days of strike action.Would be nice to say hi to you while here, staying at Sol Palma Nova.
We once witnessed a storm in Puerto Pollensa (1988?). It was in the evening and the rain was so hard and noisy that I wondered if the glass of the hotel would weather the impact. It did. I've never known a storm as bad ever since...... .......... 'Chaos at Palma airport'..... er.. where have I heard that before? 😃😎
Had a great storm in Playa De Muro, sat and watched it from our Balcony as they closed the pool area, pool bar closed so cheered the kids up with a Burger King 😂
How do you like muro? Was in palma nova last month and back in santa ponsa in 8 days... I was looking at muro but the travel agent told me it was quiet on a night so it deterred us but it looks amazing
@@Jerseybaby19 Hi, it’s beautiful but it is true it’s very quiet on an evening but €10 in a taxi and you are in Alcudia which has plenty of lively places. Muro has some beautiful restaurants though and reasonable prices. I would highly recommend it.
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun well we have you to thank for this one, the beach sold it to us. Had a surprise last night struggling to get a taxi back from Alcudia Port when we picked up a horse and cart, it was so spontaneous it really made it exciting for us and the kids. Muro is stunning and the apartments we are staying in are superb. Our last couple of holidays weren’t without tragedy including the losing my dad and father in law falling ill, this has been such a welcome break to us all.
Flew back back early hours of Thursday after a beautiful blazing hot week in Sa Coma. The last day (Wednesday) was torrential rain and winds. Our flight was delayed 3 hours. When we finally set off it was lightening whilst we were in the sky. We were bouncing around in our seats due to the turbulence. I will say we flew with TUI and they did not look after us we couldn’t find a rep anywhere and we could only find 1 Palma air port staff that could speak English. It was awful
Cant believe the beach vendors are charging even in the snow i forecast. Apparently a good storm clears the air. Hope its less muggy for you soon. I once experienced ball lightning at arenal back in the day. Very frightening. Literally a ball of lightening exploded in the street and i almost went deaf. Stay safe out there Alex and stay away from your rooftop swimming pool for the moment. No rain here Wednesday unfortunately and still hot.
Morning Alex would you be able to tell us the best exchange rate near the sol guardalupa its 1 13 in uk at the moment hoping to get a better rate over there. Love your vlogs ❤❤
Why do you blur the first set of children, but not the second set? Surely you are in public and this is not a legal requirement. I have seen many foreign vloggers in Spain do this, like a kind of virtue signalling that only Spanish people would appreciate, as in the UK there is no expectation of privacy in public.
Such good advice about getting off the beach and out of the sea Alex. Some don't realise rhe danger. Thank you x

We're off to the nextdoor island of Menorca next week. I know the islands need some good rain, but I hope it passes before we get there :)
Sadly our flight (and holiday) were cancelled today as a result. Hope to visit next month now.

SAFETY ADVICE for people staying in hotels during a thunderstorm..DO NOT use the lifts in case the power goes out..
