The Gentle Barn teams up with Mercy for Animals during an undercover investigation to rescue four baby cows from senseless torment and a horrifying death.
Thank you all for your thoughts! We are so grateful to all of you who have shared the video and sent rave reviews. We also welcome the thoughts of those of you who disagree with our views. The questions are: SHOULD ANIMALS BE TREATED THAT WAY? WILL YOU STILL BUY THE PRODUCTS NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IS DONE TO THE ANIMALS? Vegan or not is irrelevant in that respect. It's about Supply and Demand people! Although we do suggest a plant based diet.
Was vegetarian for 14 years and after learning of the horrible abuses to egg laying chickens and dairy cows went vegan. It was the greatest experience of a lifetime that I enjoy every day.
Vegan M Have been a vegetarian all my life. I live in India. Here they dont separate the calves from their mothers and allow the mothers to feed their calves. The amount of milk a cow or a buffalo gives in a day is way more than what is necessary for the calf. My father owns a farm and from what I learn they keep the calf with the mother until the end of lactation period after which the mother automatically disowns the calf. The male calves are then sent over to farms to plough the fields and the female are sent to dairy. Brutal treatment of cows is banned in India for religious purposes so it is kind of rare to see people even beat cows let alone kicking them or killing them. It is still like using an animal for our selfish needs but compassion, care and abstaining from cruel practices however profitable they are can be the middle ground. I simply feel it is not a bad thought to have dairy. It is bad to resort to torture to sustain dairy.
I watch videos on Animal Aid Unlimited in India and they've rescued a calf a farmer tossed out on the street to die right after the mother's birthed them. It was a heartbreaking video. The little guy pulled through!
Bhaskar Bharadwaj. Thats how I imagined it was in the western dairy industry. It isn´t though. If I lived in India I would be vegetarian maybe, but in Europe I need to be vegan.
I'm banned from the slaughterhouse due to me "stealing livestock " I just took a piglet and shoved it down my shirt and kinda ran. Then to make matters worst I had a friend of mine come with a van and steal the rest and the mother. I had to pay a fee and since I'm a minor no serious charges were filed . They do have a restraining order
I am a transplanted Californian in Texas and seeing the amount of cattle really breaks your heart. Dairy or beef you know how awful it is. But no matter where you live, when you find out about the fate of dairy calves it is beyond heartbreaking. I've seen images online of weakened and barely standing male dairy calves with captive bolts to their foreheads who have been sold for cheap beef. It's truly an image you cannot unsee. I really hope more people adapt plant-based diets or do whatever they can to change this.
I volunteered at the gentle barn one summer and the stories of the animals were so heartfelt. It just amazing how these animals are practically given a second chance.
You and I both and I actually worked on many of California's biggest Dairy Farms because I love cows and to this day my love for these beautiful, loving, nurturing intelligent animals is never ending. What I didn't realize is what I was participating in was "Cruel". I just never connected the dots but now I know better thanks to really sitting down and educating myself. I want all Factory Farms shut down as their is no reason to eat Dairy, Meat, and Eggs. #GoVegan.
@@dominickbailey2477 What do you do with the babies? What do you do with cows that can no longer give milk? You say you treat cattle with love and respect, but how can you do that when in the end, they are murdered? And how can you do that, when you take their babies and steal their milk? Money, that's the only reason you say you treat them well, they are a commodity to you, nothing more.
The Gentle Barn does more than rehabilitate animals who need help...it helps children who are in emotional need to relate to themselves...in the animals they find their own hard luck stories and I believe this is an amazing effort for both the animals and children...compassion and empathy...two things we need more of...The Gentle Barn is remarkable...watch this and see for yourself!
LOVE THIS GUY! I have been so heart broken over the evils of dairy farms. Thank you for your kindness to these babies. I could not imagine what these animals are going through I do not buy milk any more because of these monsters in dairy farming
Just watched this and I am literally sitting here in tears. I am so thankful that you were able to pull these babies out before something bad happened to them. Now they will have a blessed life to live out at The Gentle Barn. God Bless you Ellie and Jay for all you do.
I am crying for those cow babies. They were separated from their deer mothers and now killed in such cruel way. The whole world mourned for a gorilla which was about to kill a child and just in this damned farm everyday more than 20 cute baby cow ,whose milk was stoled, are being killed 🍼😭😭
Thank you Gentle Barn!! I have recently switched to vegetarian, because I had learned about how the animals were inhumanely killed, but I didn't realize that the same thing happened on dairy farms. I think soon I'll be going vegan. :)
This is incredibly eye-opening! I had no idea what this video would leave me too I have been considering cutting out dairy and I currently only have organic dairy which I felt like I was doing good but now I realize that just because I have organic label on it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s not buying into this thank you for your alignment! Thank you for your work for animals and children at risk!
Jay Lawrence After seeing things like this I became Vegan. I've been Vegetarian for many years. Now 125 days no dairy or eggs. I'm okay. I'm making it. Lost 15 lbs.
Thank you to the courageous undercover worker and also for the amazing work of The Gentle Barn and Mercy for Animals. I wish everyone would watch this video and become vegan. It's heartbreaking to know how many animals suffer from this abuse. Hopefully our work together will raise awareness, compassion and change for a gentle life.
Thank you. Gentle farm You guys are amazing. I wish so much that I could save farm animals too. what those people due is beyond what I can imagine. I don't understand how people can be so cruel. I know deep down inside the animals that you save , I know they are thank ful. Keep on doing what you do , please
Thank you as ALWAYS TO MERCY FOR ANIMALS WHICH I WILL ALWAYS CONTINUE TO SUPPORT. AND THANK YOU GENTLE BARN FOR WORKING WITH MFA. THESE POOR CALFS AND COWS DON'T DESERVE THIS KIND OF CRUELTY TOWARDS THESE HELPLESS ANIMALS TO STUFF THESE FARMERS POCKETS. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS. ANYONE THAT SEES OR KNOWS OF ANY ANIMAL CRUELTY NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON THEM. WE NEED TO SPEAK UP FOR THEM.
you are so great guys! tears are falling from my eyes thinking about what these poor creatures are enduring. the world has a hope because there are people like you. sending love from poland. I love you guys
I went vegetarian just over a year ago. In that time, I've still been consuming dairy and, more occasionally, eggs, but this video has changed that for me. I am going to make a commitment to go vegan. I had been planning on transitioning all along, but hearing how the dairy industry supports this senseless violence is the last straw. Thank you for this video. People need to know about this.
Thank you Ellie&Jay 4 working w/MFA. Nathan is amazing. Thank U Jay 4 saving those calf's. They are so beautiful. These places need to be shut down 4 ever. Now animal needs 2 be treated with such cruelty. How cruel MANKIND IS.It sickens me. I also am an animal advocate.
This made me cry happy and sad tears. You put it so clearly and its now so obvious to me, I cannot be a part of this, I need to change. Thankyou so much x
Thank you so much for what you have done!! Not only do you help and save animals but you do the same to children. Keep doing what you are doing, people need to know whats going on in the world instead of remaining ignorant. You guys are simply amazing!!! Thank you!!
Me too! :-) Thanks for taking what you are shown and putting it into action with your own life choices. I know how hard it is at first but it's the right thing to do and it's the healthy thing to do. For us and the animals. We can DO this!! Many blessings!
While living in Indonesia, were i never had butter, cheese, or milk (& never missed it?) i was already a Vegan ...When i came back to France i was almost "forced" to take part in this food- industry...Being a Vegetarian was already making me an 'outcast" overhere? I am going Vegan now, a 100%, with all my heart...because being a Vegetarian was just not enough? I didn't know about this???? This is soo BRUTAL!!Every-one should know!!!!There is soyamilk, oatmilk, coconutmilk... & sooo many other sources of milk- that is NON DAIRY & by the way more HEALTHY & deeelicious? We can all become VEGAN soo easily...This has to STOP!!! I am hearbroken since weeks about this & feel sick about it...I share your videos on my Fbk!Thank you soo much for telling us all!!!These cruel practices can never be good for the soul of humans??? It just can't? Thank you! & bless you for your great work & compassion,to make this world a better place for us all!!! *-*
It is so heart wrenching and cruel, to see them abuse and murder these gentle and innocent Baby calves, after already depriving them of their Mothers and her nourishment! I've been a vegetarian since age 16 as I sincerely LOVE cows and all animals... Now trying to wean myself off dairy... milk, cheese, butter, yogurt and eggs. So inspired after meeting Dudley, Maybelle and Miles in Tennessee!!! Love You guys at Gentle Barn~ Ellie and Jay, Andrea and all the wonderful Volunteers! May God bless You all and keep you safe!!
I am so grateful for people like you. I wasn't expecting to graphic nature of this video and I can't watch it, I would never get the images out of my head. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for rescuing the calves. Dairy industry should be phased out. It isn't needed, so many good alternative milks. Children do not need milk after they have been weaned, and this milk is for calves not humans. Vegan for life, I would never go back. Thank you again, you are true heroes for animals.
Does being vegetarian mean you still consume dairy? This video is about the cruelty that takes place in the dairy industry. The dairy industry is the veal industry. Please do your research if you still consume dairy...thanks!
Andrea Robbins Pardon my ignorance & lack of knowledge but does your research show that even organic dairy industry that promotes pasture cows also runs the veal industry & treats calf with cruelty? Thank you for your work.
Some people dont see the bigger picture. Of how cruel, heartless and vile humanity has become. . Personally I don't drink milk or will ever eat veal. Makes me sick to my stomach. Laws need to change but we as a society cant even protect our children. Thank you to those who actually get out there, rescue and are making a difference.
It is beyond belief! It's only been less then a year of not eating meat, but I watch these videos and wish I knew before what I do NOW! Thank You! Also Thank You All for all you do for these beautiful creatures from God!
I am honored to have watched it (while crying) and posted to my FB....THANK YOU for bringing these horrible inexcusable things to light. WE OWE YOU and I know this is so incredibly painful for you as well - I don't know how you do it, but thank you - you are my heroes.
Thankyou, at least some people are trying to help...This dairy in Texas has been keeping me awake at nights, knowing that it goes on everywhere...Thankyou again and bless the calves
I JUST started following a Vegan lifestyle literally a week ago, after watching Forks Over Knives, and then Vegutated... I'm now doing more and more research and every single video just makes me cry, now knowing i contributed to the purchase of meats probably from farms like this! I was a HUGE meat/animal eater... i can never look at it the same ever again! Thanks for all that you do! Truly amazing! I would LOVE to come with your farm some time!
This is propaganda. I bottle calf is worth $75-$150 each. If they are disposing of 20,000 calves per year they are throwing away $1.5 to $3 million per year. Not likely.
I can't stop crying. How can anybody do this to a baby animal? They have no soul. Greed is an ugly attribute to have and turns some human beings into monsters not worthy to share this planet with the rest of us. Bless the undercover guy who has to see this every day to help make changes in the long run. Bless the Gentle Barn, bless all the people involved in the making of this video. Because of the Gentle Barn and other facts I became a vegetarian four months ago and have never looked back.
I knew this was going to be hard to watch, but I forced myself to watch the entire thing. My chest is heaving from sobbing and I can barely see through the tears to type this. The feeling in my gut right now is indescribable...I could literally throw up seeing how these animals are treated. The kicking, the hammers, the neglect, the beatings and the blood...the complete lack of emotion letting these beings suffer is unimaginable. I am proud to say I'm visiting the Gentle Barn in October...
A beautifully created, smartly edited video for the masses. This is what people are ready to see in order to educate their children and follow their hearts.
Look at those sweet, calf faces. How could anyone want to hurt them? That's incredible that they use these rescued animals to help reach kids, who like these animals, most people don't want to take the time to help.
Your work is soo full of Grace and Love and Wisdom. Thank you sooooo much! I feel deep gratitide. People like you give me hope. For Humanity. And for all the animals suffering worldwide. Your model is an amazing example.... A Lighthouse . I follow you. Namasté from Munich, Germany.
Not a vegan yet, vegetarian for nearly 50 years after a beef steer, who my parents made me feed made his way into our freezer, and then my beloved 4-H dairy cow gave birth to a male (destined for veal), it amazes me that I am the only one in the family "defective" enough to have been scarred for life by those experiences. Sadly, thanks for validation.
Thank you so much for this heartwrenching video. Yes, you are right. People have no idea what they are doing by consuming dairy! It is shocking what our society condones
In Rancho Palos Verdes, the Pacific Unitarian Church has used a few of your videos as part of its Ethical Eating Study Group. You are true models of compassion, and we love you and thank you for it!
This is just Unbelievable that People inflict so much PAIN, MISERY on these Innocent Loving Beautiful Animals and their Babies for their SELFISH needs... Humans are pure EVIL.. ( just one word to describe)
Thank you soo much for helping these animals. I am a teenager still. I promise I will doante to your charity. I again thank you for helping these animals. Keep doin what you are doing. May the triple gem bless you
BRAVO.This is a great "starter" video for those who are just beginning to learn about the horrors of factory farming. If every person who watches this can get just one other person to watch who has no awareness of factory farming perhaps we can see change happening at a faster rate. One comment made in the video is so true...people just don't want to know, don't want to hear about the atrocities because "once you know what is going on there is now an obligation to become part of the solution."
I admire your work! It breaks my heart to see these and other wonderful animals suffer like that...Maybe one day they won't have to. All those people laughing about other people going vegan and calling it a stupid trend should visit these horrible places...If I'll ever visit the US I would LOVE to visit your place and meet those lucky animals! Keep doing what you are doing! Thank you! Greetings from Germany...
gentle barn, thank you for your tireless work in saving the world, loving all life, humans and non-humans. i wish all people who are not vegan who view this video will get out of their status quo mindset and see beyond this video to adopt a compassionate and healthy lifestyle.
I always love the part when animals are free and run and dance!. Thank you for rescuing these beautiful babies. Find out the truth Sir Paul Mccartney's behind glass walls for example. When you know the truth no way in hell will you ever eat, drink, or wear anything from an animal ever again.
I briefly worked on a dairy farm in the "calf barn" doing the feedings. It was an organic dairy and by all standards, as humane as a dairy farm gets, and still it was obscene. Nobody was beating the animals, they were cleaned up after and fed, but the despair and loneliness of those poor little things locked up in a hot dark barn in a tiny chute 24/7 was more than I could take and I only did it for 2 weeks. That was many yrs before I became vegan and still it opened my eyes.
Thank you so much for this video, and thank you ellen for sending me here. I never really understood the veal trade but am so shocked. I have been vegetarian for quite a few years now but am now starting to cut out dairy. I hope things can change...this is so horrible.
Because you guys did this for all of animals, I wish I was a lot closer to you guys to be able to come by few times a week to take care of those animals with you guys. Thank you for rescues all of animals who needed a chance at living a happy life. I don't understand why people are so cruel and thinks it's okay to hurt animals for their own anger, and thinks they deserves it, what do those animal thinks while you hurt them? What have them done to you? That's what bothers me.. Thank you...
Although we do suggest a plant based diet.
gentlebarn love you guys so much 😭thank you for all you do for these animals 😭
You guyses stories ALWAYS touches my heart ❤️

Thats how I imagined it was in the western dairy industry. It isn´t though. If I lived in India I would be vegetarian maybe, but in Europe I need to be vegan.
@Anna Eagland Well, I suppose you're a pig because you eat greens..........
I would have been vegan, I really want to. But it’s impossible for me to leave milk, and it’s my main source of protein
Thank you for saving that piglet
What did you do with the piglet?
Opteryx she's at a farm sanctuary
+xxxBunnixxx love that's awesome :) giving it a second chance at a good life
Awww, at least you saved those piggies from misery ❤️ fuck their restraining order! They're the real murderers here!

My heart! I cried all the way through, but lost it when the wife ran to hug her husband. You two are Amazing people! These beautiful babies!
I hate this industry with a passion. Keep up the good work. We can all help to raise awareness.
hell yeah!

Utterly mindblowing.
You people are brave and kind. Your undercover man is stronger than any body I know.

Crying to my soul. The growing lack of compassion towards animals is beyond horrific. I want to save them all.
This is why I am a vegetarian now. Thank you, Gentle Barn and Farm Sanctuaries everywhere.
Thank you for your work.
go vegan
Some people dont see the bigger picture. Of how cruel, heartless and vile humanity has become. . Personally I don't drink milk or will ever eat veal. Makes me sick to my stomach. Laws need to change but we as a society cant even protect our children. Thank you to those who actually get out there, rescue and are making a difference.
So every dairy farm is like this. Is mine? Do u know?
It is beyond belief! It's only been less then a year of not eating meat, but I watch these videos and wish I knew before what I do NOW! Thank You! Also Thank You All for all you do for these beautiful creatures from God!
I am honored to have watched it (while crying) and posted to my FB....THANK YOU for bringing these horrible inexcusable things to light. WE OWE YOU and I know this is so incredibly painful for you as well - I don't know how you do it, but thank you - you are my heroes.
I love the gentle barn i cant wait to take my daughter someday
I salute you people....
This is propaganda. I bottle calf is worth $75-$150 each. If they are disposing of 20,000 calves per year they are throwing away $1.5 to $3 million per year. Not likely.
jaglinuxmint me too bravo 👏
I can't stop crying. How can anybody do this to a baby animal? They have no soul. Greed is an ugly attribute to have and turns some human beings into monsters not worthy to share this planet with the rest of us. Bless the undercover guy who has to see this every day to help make changes in the long run. Bless the Gentle Barn, bless all the people involved in the making of this video. Because of the Gentle Barn and other facts I became a vegetarian four months ago and have never looked back.
I just love what you are doing and stand for. You are educating people in the realist way 😌
I knew this was going to be hard to watch, but I forced myself to watch the entire thing.
This is what people are ready to see in order to educate their children and follow their hearts.
the calves are so beautiful. i love you gentle barn!
Bless you for your kindness to these helpless creatures.
You guys are my heroes!!! THANK YOU on behalf of the animals! You are AMAZING human beings!
Thank YOU for rescuing these magnificent babies.....A+++
Thank you so much for this heartwrenching video. Yes, you are right. People have no idea what they are doing by consuming dairy! It is shocking what our society condones
I respect nothing more than ppl who do this work! #govegan ❤️
Thank you and God Bless you for what u do in saving these precious babies
Thank you for saving these angels
In Rancho Palos Verdes, the Pacific Unitarian Church has used a few of your videos as part of its Ethical Eating Study Group. You are true models of compassion, and we love you and thank you for it!
This is just Unbelievable that People inflict so much PAIN, MISERY on these Innocent Loving Beautiful Animals and their Babies for their SELFISH needs... Humans are pure EVIL.. ( just one word to describe)
I agree with you.
*Wants not needs, but I totally agree with you.
I startd crying at the end because what they did was just so beautiful!!!
my heart is broken again. many thanks for your selfless work and sacrifice. true angels on earth.
How can anyone give these wonderful people thumbs down. I do not will never eat veal , lamb, beef ,pork. No meat. Awesome organisation.
if youre against this you gotta stop drinking milk too, because this is after all a result of the dairy industry.
Hedda Winther And if we stop, the cows will be treated even worse.
God bless you for rescuing these wonderful lives.
Thank you! Greetings from Germany...
i think I've just become a vegan.
Awesome!! :D
groupjapan Good for you. Congrats
Congrats, you're no longer paying for murder.
thankyou so much for being kind souls to these beautiful animals
Thank you Gentle Barn.
gentle barn, thank you for your tireless work in saving the world, loving all life, humans and non-humans. i wish all people who are not vegan who view this video will get out of their status quo mindset and see beyond this video to adopt a compassionate and healthy lifestyle.
I always love the part when animals are free and run and dance!. Thank you for rescuing these beautiful babies. Find out the truth Sir Paul Mccartney's behind glass walls for example. When you know the truth no way in hell will you ever eat, drink, or wear anything from an animal ever again.
May God Bless You for saving these animals! Go Vegen!!!
God bless your beautiful souls
