Easy...If I "WERE" you, "WAS" will not be necessary...I made a sentence, using both words, to quote the present. I myself teach Business and Professional English and never realized that Verbs were defined as Be Verbs...well, at least not until today. To me, a Verb is classified as an "Action word OR Doing thing" and if "Be" is to be used...this will not translate into a Verb, rather into something that is waiting to happen - or otherwise "The Unknown".
