Very reliable motor just a little underpowered for a Commodore, I use to have a VH SLX 4 cylinder Commodore, I converted it to a 6, wish I never did as the 4's are so rare and are worth money even though they are gutless
Hello with regard to your video did you rebuild the motor or just give it a clean and repaint why I ask is I need to get new welsh plugs for mine but unable to find the correct ones can you tell me what size they are please ,,,,Thank you
Need a belt and a fan for the water and radiator to be any use. My Starfire VC has sat dead now for over 3 years because every Varajet I have got has been stuffed. Even after a rebuild. I need a 32/36 DGV Webber to revive it.
i did have a belt but for the water pump only but no fan so i can run it long for the vc im putting a fresh cammed 308 in it you should swap your vc to v8 as well.
@@allaboutcars5306 I've mainly moved on to the vy2 Commodore wagons now with Ecotec v6. Hope to supercharge them eventually. I may still tinker with the Starfires. But no interest in the v8's.
I've got a Starfire-engined VC Commodore and I am trying to work out what to do with it! For your 4 cylinder to V8 conversion, did you have to upgrade the brakes and diff for registration? Thanks!

Starfire was based on the 173 six.
Yes it’s just a 173 with 2 cylinders missing
@@allaboutcars5306 yes, I believe that what I said.

Rodney McGiveron it’s a big car with a small engine.
family 2 motor was still 2 years away, so they went with the tried and true starfire.

For a V8 conversion you need rear disc brakes and vented rotors on front also a 6cyl or V8 k frame as the 4cyl one is different
Nice video
Thank you
