Ah right, I ended up replacing part of the fuel line with a clear hose connected to a diesel bucket but it looks like the pump is not sucking. What would you do next to confirm the pump is dead or alive? Thanks a lot Matt
Would that be Symptoms of a failing crank sensor as the tacho/rev counter didnt move at all when cranking?, i use this method to get some direction on trouble shooting most non starts.
Hi, this one doesn't move the tacho at all during cranking, it only works after the engine has started. That is just how some cars/ vans work. Unfortunately it makes using it as a diagnostic aid not an option in this case. That would have been a good test but this is an exception to the rule. Thanks for watching.
@@mechanicmatt871 My van (MK7 2.2 fwd, 2007) is cranking but won't start. I have replaced crankshaft sensor - no change. I have replaced glow plugs and the wiring as the loom was corroded, same as the tips of glow plugs and the fuse was popping and also due to this issue there was no pressure on the fuel rail. Once the glow plugs were replaced with the wiring loom I have regained pressure on fuel rail, yet no success - it won't start. Engine is shaking but nothing happens...
Malia art, it is hard to say, I just had a combo with no fault codes, it turned out to be a stuck open EGR, I blanked off the egr to test it and the van started. Your pressure in the fuel rail is that being read using a scan tool looking at live data? Or is it back probing the fuel rail pressure sensor signal wire on the fuel rail. I find the transit needs 1.3 volts to start. If you are having no luck getting it started, you could try backing off the fuel line at the injector like the old way of blessing air out of the systems, crank the car until their is fuel, one injector at a time. Also something that has helped me on a transit engine in the past is to block off the fuel return from the fuel filter to the tank, just using a hose with a bolt in it. That has been enough to start the engine. I know it's basic checks that you have probably already tried.
I guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Eugene Sincere thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hi, this van was starting ok after changing the glow plugs. Then it was left standing for two months, and it was back to being a crank no start. After a while of checking things over I noticed air in the fuel line, I changed the filter and bled the diesel. While doing that I noticed the fuel rail pressure sensor was showing 1.2 volts on the signal wire with no fuel in the rail, Wich is too high. I changed the fuel rail pressure sensor and it started fine after that. A long story I know, I was going to film it but my phone broke. Last time I saw the owner he said it was running great. Thanks for watching
Thegreendabomb, not on this engine, this has a buzz bar (wire) joining all injectors together so the individual injectors are not monitored. You would get a glow plug relay fault it had a fault. Thanks for watching
Great vid thanks !! Do you hear the pump priming on those vans? I’m in a crank no start situation but can’t seem to hear the pump prime. Cheers
As far as I remember It doesn't have an electric pump , although the Citroen with a 2.2does have an electric pump

I would attach a vacuum gauge to the pumps inlet, crank the engine and see if it gets around 5 to 7 in/hg on the gauge when cranking

cable from battery to glow plug relay
Leaking injectors maybe ?
mine did this in the cold and I used a heat gun down the air box to heat up the motor, worked a treat :)
I haven't done that before, I'll remember that for a bad starting diesel engine. Thanks for watching and your comment

@Eugene Sincere It worked and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
hi did you get to the bottom of this one? was it the glow plugs or injector? cool video, thanks

@@mechanicmatt871 hey thanks for the reply, good you got it sorted in the end
Wouldn't the faulty sensor be seen on an OBD plug in??

This is a follow up glow plug replacement video
link not working. thanks for video
This is why builders carry cans of easystart in their vans as it's cheaper than glowplugs🙄.
Hahaha that's true, thanks for watching and your comment
