  • There's something very comforting about knowing one opening really well and getting to use it as a weapon against most uncommon lines your opponent could go for. It simplifies your preparation and makes going into games simpler.
For me that's the London System. I play it less frequently now, but I still employ it against some openings, like the Dutch.

But they were all of them deceived, for another opening was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret, a london opening, to control all others. And into this opening he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.

Great example of why a solid pawn structure is so important. Thanks.

When is your mirror English coming out? I really learn a lot from your openings, and really want to have something prepared vs the English

You were so confident in that endgame but I wasn't sure there was an easy decisive breakthrough until he played a5? placing a pawn on a dark square. Your plan of Kh3 Bf2 Bh4 doesn't do anything because Bh4 is met by Bc5 and Banywhere is met with Bf2 and your king cannot yet get up.

Same square colour bishop with a pawn advantage and a more active king. White was playing for win and black didn't have anything besides h pawn maybe. At his level yeah should be enough for a win 💯

I believe players generally resign too easily. To me playing through to checkmate is respect. I know you are on a whole other level.b

At their level and with so much time on the clock playing this position as black would be pointless. Even a 1000 rated player could win this against a GM with so much time to think.
