I came into this video goin "what the bloody fuck is a Rissole?" Then after being entertained I thought to myself "Oh it's a fucken burger." Then Nat said "It's not a fucken burger, mate" Im glad he was there to correct me.
Nat is also an ideas man. That's why Dad calls him the Ideas Man. He has lots of ideas.
"You are an ideas man, Nat."
Whatta ya know about lead?.
I dug a hole; its filling up with water".
Haha man i seen that movie 3 times and only just clicked hed hit a water pipe! Haha.
I thought it was just raining.
up the rissole bowl. triple J's hottest 100 contender for sure.
Its a movement, all day drinking to the Triple J grand finale "Rissole Bowl"

Can we expect an album with great hits such as 'Rissoles are my favourite' and 'Haversting the Pumpkin?'
That's some catchy shit right there.
Need that when i'm sitting on the Monash carpark each morning get ya thinking of good food good times nats classic hits 🤣
Ok now I got Harvesting the Pumpkin stuck in my head again. THANK YOU MrBrisket
The fact that this parodied the greatest Australian classic as well as being a lovely recipe made a shitty awful day much better.
The Castle is how I introduced my wife to Australian culture, she's from Seattle, it worked a treat!
the castle has got to be the worst movie ever made, not just in australia but of all time apart from any Hugh grant movie especially about a boy & bridget jones diary
Omg! Me too! Lol
My husband introduced me to The Castle a few weeks after I came to Australia in 2007. Watched many, many times since. Love it.
That rissole bowl song will be stuck in my head for days now. Cheers!
Let me help you with that...carrots and mash, WITH PEAS ON THE SIIIIDE!!!!
@@marlymarlmarl Ha the JJJ's and the J either in louisville or a few hot ones in springvalley form good times🤣
I saw the Castle in a cinema in the west coast of Ireland in the summer of ‘98. We went to it cause we’d seen whatever the summer blockbuster was (Armageddon or whatever) and it was the only thing on. We laughed our arses off. I told as many people about it as I could in the intervening years.
About 15 years after, I moved to Australia and had Aussies say “aww mate you have to see the Castle”. Don’t tell ME about the Castle mate. I know all about the Castle
In the spirit of cultural exchange, is there an Irish counterpart to the Castle we should see?
@@rubikmonat6589 ohhh good question. The Commitments is a quality one but most people have seen that.
Actually right now if you have Amazon Prime there’s a film streaming there called Into the West which was (and is) an absolute Irish classic.
www.imdb.com/title/tt0104522/
Mate, when are we getting a Huey's Cooking Adventures episode. Gotta cook it on a public barbecue in a park or some shit.
The rissole bowl song was, and I am not exaggerating, merely reporting fact, the greatest cultural accomplishment in the last 3000 years.
Who remembers this quote from the Castle - "if dad was the backbone of the family, then mum was all the other bones." Ain't that the truth! 🥰
Before this I had never heard of rissoles or The Castle. I now have a date night planned with the missus to make rissoles and watch The Castle. Thanks Nat!
australia's answer to binging with babish and i would argue this is way better
I would also argue that he legit is better, at least in terms of the value of the content to regular people like us. After watching a Nat's video, I actually feel like going out and making the thing (end of days bolognese and chuck a sickie chicken soup are regulars of mine now). After watching a Babish video, all I think is "looks great but I can't fuckin make that, I need to go to 5 different specialty shops for the ingredients, $1000 worth of specialty kitchen equipment and four fucking days to finish it off".
I find Babish discouraging while Nat is thoroughly encouraging.
2 completely different products, dont lower one thing to raise another. They both kick gigantic asses man.
Babish is the ideal home cook, with all of the nicnacs and ingredients. Nats the real home cook, with none of the fucks given and all of the heart. Both are equally valid. Love em both to death.
The last 2 bloody days, all i've heard repeat in my head is "The rissole, the rissole, the rissole bowl" 🤣
Sometimes being a night owl in America pays off, like seeing a Nat's video 1 minute after it's uploaded. However.... this was the most Australian recipe I've ever seen. But I'm all for some.. Rissoles? What the fuck?
Lol I said the same thing I grew up with my mom making these but we just simply called it hamburger patties and gravy because she always added brown gravy on top
@@RadioSnivins Yep, we had arseholes for tea once a week when I was a kid
@@RadioSnivins hmmmm arseholes again, mum? 🤒🤕🤢🤮
Nat makes arseholes for tea cool...🤪
Hi Diddly-Ho Nat and Jules! This video is going straight to the pool room... and by pool room I mean favourites.
That was a 10/10 episode man. You look sharp, we got to see Jules, she’s lovely, and not one, but two catchy tunes. Short and sharp.
my old head chef used to say "kitchen tops are for rissoles not arseholes" whenever he caught someone sitting on them
@@brendanbyrne6607 preparation units. The area designated for food and not your arse basically
My kid saw what I was watching and said "hey! You're watching fuck man without me!"
I'll just have to make them rissoles to make up for this awful transgression.
this is going straight to the pool room.
The moment when Nats What I Reckon looks like a member of Okilly Dokilly (a Ned Flanders themed metal band). They all dress as Ned Flanders.
I bloody love it.
Incredibly to my surprise this movie is on UA-cam! I watched it a couple days ago. What a film! The serenity!
"Dry as an old white dog shit". haha that one really hit home
when nat said 'righto muscles' i thought my dad had come back for a second🥲
"Rissoles..are my favourite, carrots and mash, AND PEAS ON THE SIDE. FUCK YEAH I LOVE MY RISSOLES!."
LMAO my husband looked at me like I had 10 heads, while I laughed so much I gagged.
Nat + the Castle + rissoles= Thats goin straight to the pool room. 😉🤣
I don’t know what’s more impressive, the mo or the collared shirt under a woollen pullover.
Holy fuck. This is legitimately all of my favourite things in one. Nat, the Castle and Powerlines.
Fucking amazing job man. The Kerrigans don’t get nearly enough love these days. I’m definitely doing my bit too
The jumper over the checkered shirt actually suits ya mate. Straight to the pool room...
The noise that he made when he add a tablespoon of mustard and puts it in a bowl XD
Omg her laughter 😂😂😂 she always goes hahahaHA! Its amazing. Which is just fair that two amazing people are together! God bless you guys for what you do! You are teaching people NOT to be afraid of cooking and making it accessible and approachable for EVERYONE!!
"Working Dog" should be happy with this.
Couldn't have clicked on this video any quicker. I love the Castle!! My fave movie ever.
Speaking as a pool player, I was incredibly disappointed that there is no pool room but on the upside, there are some good rissoles. Am conflicted.
Jules saving the day with the seasoning, good on ya darl
The castle one of the best films ever made
Thanks for mentioning that movie. Never heard of it, but it was fantastic. 100% wholesome... like a good homemade Rissole.
Here in the states I wake up at 3am can't sleep and what do I find your latest and imo your funniest video yet now I'll be on a hunt for this movie as that song is stuck in my head lol thx dude for always making me laugh
Go on dale tell em... Dale dug a hole started the patio 🤣🤣 by far one of the best aussie movies ever, Thankyou for the tribute 🙌🙌
Never heard of a “Rissole” in my life. But, I’ll still give her a go 👍🏻🤤
I will forever have the Rissole bowl breakdown stuck in my head! Cheers from the state's!
The other day I felt a bit depressed and to change my mind up I did a little spin with the whistle as you do in the intro, got me a smile and had a better rest of day looll
I think we’ve may have an album in the works folks, first ‘harvesting the pumpkins’ and now ‘rissole bowl’ and I’m totally here for it 😂
Your pulpit is your kitchen. We all dream of jousting sticks, pool rooms and macrame…. Bloody champion effort bringing the vibe back to Bonnydoon…
Jesus champion, that mustache is lookin' pretty rugged.
Ahh back to your old self , no microwave ... woohoo ! Luved it ...and go the tomato sauce ! Nice to see a bit more of Jules.
Hadn't had rissoles in yonkies, made them last week just like yours but with a thumb dent in the middle of one side. Apparently stops them bowing out. Gravy over dead 'orse in this castle. Nice one Nat
Nat, my wife got me your cookbook for Christmas (it arrived here in Canada a little late, thanks COVID). I made Rissoles for dinner last night and everyone LOVED them! Thanks Champion!
That Reebok Pulsar's wheels are on backwards. Shit'll kick off if there's a tissue box on the parcel shelf.
Just watched The Castle myself, great film. That Pool room was brilliant.
Call that a mustache? Tell him he's dreamin'. Jokes aside that must have taken a while to get it to that level, unless it's not real. That's dedication to the craft.
My mum would be proud great job fella, my misses always knows I'm happy with meat mash and veg.
You had us in stitches watching this episode, straight to the pool room with this episode old mate.
Well done.
High quality Dad joke content. Top shelf Nat.
Nat always makes me laugh my ass off and this one didn't disappoint! Brilliant stuff!
Hey yeah, love this video and love THE CASTLE! Greetings from Coolaroo, currently in lockdown but loving your videos and book! 😆
Laughed so hard for this one. My wife and I LOVE The Castle, and we were in hysterics. Plus, those rissoles look fantastic. Gonna’ make some tomorrow for dinner!
Nate: cover it in sauce
Me:*reaches for jar sauce*
Nate:*visible frustration*
Just watched The Castle over here in North Wales (west of that England Ffff£$kin place) and p8ssed myself all the way through. Cheers Nat you legend!
If you wanna stick a piece of cheese in the middle of those rissoles, go right on ahead champ.
You can also put the cheese in the mashed potato side, works great too. Adding cheese is the real deal.
I watched this when it first was posted, but I keepy coming back again months later for the “Rissole Bowl” breakdown.
Just letting you know, that’s the kinda groove one just needs to get through life.
Side Note: I’m American and had never heard of Rissole before this episode.
Fuckin' awesome, Nat... y'know, it's just the vibe of the thing.
This is a perfect distillation of Nat's What I Reckon content, I think it's the best video you've made so far.
Can't wait to move into my own pad soon and start cooking out some of these meals mate, bloody champion
Nat almost swears as much as the lawyer in the castle when his fax machine fucks up 😄
I’m a huge fan of The Castle but in the US version they changed Rissoles to Meatloaf so I’d never heard of rissoles before today. Thanks for recommending dinner. Delicious! And I loved the roasted carrots.
that plating right there is straight up my late 90s early 2000 childhood hahahha and fish fingers, man i haven't had those is years
I’m still singing harvesting the pumpkins
Ha been singing it randomly at work they now want a drug and alcohol test before I go out in the truck 🤣🍻👍
@@NatsWhatIReckon nah man good times Nat’s classic hits 🤣🍻👍how good are yachts 🛥!!
Omg the forbidden zucchini!!!! 9/10 times I screw rissoles up - will be trying this one for sure 👍😁
Holy shit the radar scene had me in stitches!
Absolutely gold!
😃😃 The castle is one of the greatest movies of my childhood memory. A ripper good flick if I say so myself. 👌🙌🙌👍
As a dirty pommy I only have one thing to say. You’re an ideas man Nate!
#shotdale
My favorite movie that I think Nat would like is The Money Pit - hands down one of the funniest and most underrated 80’s movies. Tom Hanks and Shelly Long are PERFECT in it. The bathtub scene is one of the best things ever filmed.
Mate should I be alarmed at the accuracy of your pot lid selection? Are you OK? That lid clearly was the right one, what have you done with Nat? Onya champion!
Top end to a Friday. Cheers Nat. The Castle is my favorite Aussie classic too.
"We're goin to Bonnie Doon.........after lockdown ends"
Love that movie champion and I love your rissole recipe. Cheers. It's not a house. It's a home, a mans home is his castle.
Every time you enforce cold water on the spuds I laugh 😂
Are we sure zucchini is on the "approved" list? Haha
I'm bloody loving the songwriting contributions you're making in your videos as of late mate, definitely keep that up!
OOoooooh it's "DAD's what I reckon" time!!! Fucking banger of a video as usual.
Nat, you have made my lockdown day. Thanks for the ‘rissole bowl’ rap 👍
Why would you go to a fancy restaurant when you can have this at home? :)
I so look forward to your videos. Thanks from Indiana, U.S.A.
To people who have just found out about rissoles you've also been missing out on a great turn of phrase. Next time you need to say "goodbye” instead try "see you 'round like a rissole".
My hubby had never seen The Castle (he was not a born Aussie so he is forgiven). He watched it a few months ago and FINALLY understood the cultural references - "tell him he's dreaming", "how's the serenity", "it's the vibe, it's Mabo", "it's going straight to the pool room" .... so on and so forth.
Americans be like: "What's a rissole?"
Americans are now like: "Let's see if they have them in the frozen food section of our supermarket."
Nat's fans are still like: "Hey, I bet I can cook those."
I often sinf the Rissole Bowl song in work 😂 I come here when I want to hear it done properly 😂😂
As an American, I have never heard of this meal or that movie. But I'll make this sometime.
It's a wonderful insight to 90s surburban life and bloody funny too. It was filmed in 5 days, and the only reason the family surname is the Kerrigans is because the name was all over the tow trucks they borrowed.
V funny Nat. Proper belly laughing here! Thanks for that
Gonna find a way to watch the castle here in the US. As a youth of the nineties if ya got a link by all means share it!
I watched The Castle immediately after this episode. Great movie! Thanks Nat for making uns laugh and feel good. All the best from Germany!
Are we just gonna gloss over the fact that Nat used a zucchini and said nothing
Never heard of Rissoles or The Castle here in the States. Watched the movie while cooking the dish and I felt like a champion. Thanks Nat!
I will nominate you as an honorary Australian, champion.
