I rarely develop a fandom towards a band/artist/group. I might like a song or two, maybe an entire album, but there's only a handful of times where I was compelled to buy every single piece of their discography as best as I could make myself aware of and listen to them to the point that most others would rather try to choke themselves to death on pinecones than hear one more second, and remain as enthralled as the first time I heard any given song. And even more rarelier, have I had the chance to actually see one one of these bands live, after sometimes as much as 15 years of enjoying their music. I guess the stars aligned and I got to see them 5 or 6 years ago at the 9:30 club in Washington D.C., and I was looking forward to it so much, especially since 333 was my new favorite polyphonic airwave vibrations... but they went on so late, and my friends kept buying me drinks and I ended up too hammered to use things like muscles to move my bones in a technique we call stumbling. and I'm a little, little, scrawny puke of a guy. I tried to shadowbox myself once, TKO in the first round But as soon as they got on stage and opened with True Trans Soul Rebel, I was like the HippieDigger9000 from that one episode of southpark and fueld with piss and vinegar. Not enough to to actually get the very very front row populated by the alphas, didn't stop me from climbing them shits like a drunken monkey and wow, okay, i know this all makes me sound like an insane person but that's because I am . I had the best fucking night even tho right after that song, I become too inebrieted to function and it was 2am. the vendor had oversold me on the tickets and i basically paid triple for tickets i didnt need, had to scalp em for dirt money cuz I entered that venue with shoes, socks, piercings, and a wallet. I ldidn't have them when we left. In fact, I remember sitting on the curb smoking a cigarette, thinking the night was done for me, and i could hear inside the venue that they just started playing 333 and I thought "fucking of course I'm gonna miss my favorite one" I only had 1 shoe on. My friends found me, trying to scalp the other tickets, and theyre like dude, dont you wanna go inside and get your other shoe? didnt you just buy those today? and I said no, fuck that shoe... as a matter of fact.. fuck THIS shoe, too! and i took the other one off, and hucked it into the dark void. I had a fun night.
I love this song! I love this band! Kudos out to Tom for having the courage to do what it takes to make himself happy. If that means we all start calling him Laura and using different pronouns when referring to the lead singer of Against Me! than so be it. Good for her and she has my full support.

Bonnarroo Bonnaree Bonnarah This looks like a hired audience. Indoors on a sound stage. When I was little there was a Bonnaroo on the Barney show. I'm sure that's where they got it from. I'm wondering where the guys in Barney suits are.
Why is she singing on the right instead of in the center of the stage? It just seems kinda unusual for the vocalist to be on the side instead of in the middle, and I just saw a more recent video of Against Me! playing this song and she was in the middle. It seems a little unusual to me but it doesn't detract from the awesomeness of the song and the performance.
3 years later, but my guess is when the singer is at the center, all the attention is on the singer, and less on the band. When the singer is on the side, then the attention spreads out to everyone in the band.
I wish the singer, whatever name you want to call the person, would still sing like this. The vocals on this song on that live album were almost cabaret and not heavy at all. It totally took away from the gravity of the song and the lyrics
I love them, I love the song... but I have to say it, they lost the rhythm when sang the "pa pa parara..." and the second vocals :v (or it's just me) and don't answer with just hate, be critical... I love them live, and all of that blah blah... but get the point
dunno i think living as the wrong gender for him was probably what was ruining his life? i don't think anyone would swap being straight for being transgender and subjecting themselves to a life of ridicule and bigotry by choice. its something you're born with not that you decide to just start doing one day lol
One does not 'become transgender'. A person is transgendered or they aren't. They don't 'decide', they either are or they are not. Also I'm pretty sure your opinion on her pre-transition appearance and voice matters about as much as your opinion on the colour of her shoes. One doesn't decide to transition based upon what others think of their appearance, they make the decision based upon what will best fit their lives and personal wellness.
