Universal Audio has just unveiled its newest effect, the Lion '68 Super Lead Amp pedal. This little beast promises to emulate the legendary Marshall Plexi sound in a compact unit fit for your pedalboard. This new effect is an expert recreation of a few different Marshall Super Leads, which were among the first Plexis made famous by rockers of the '60s and '70s.
Andy is the best in the business. He always knows the perfect music to play to really show off each pedal. Plus he’s a great guitar player.
Andy casually shredding in the intro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude you killed it. Awesome work.
I cannot believe how many killer pedals have come out in the last few months.
This is the 2nd Golden Age of pedals
@@michaeljohnson8058That’s right! It’s amazing! And I’m one of those guys not using Pedals that much!
But this thing sounds killer 😅
Better that the third reconciliation of the last of the meketrek suplicants and a great time for gear.
Seriously. I thought I was done!
As long as aspiring guitarist care more about perfecting tone then learning to make music the supply of new pedals won’t stop.
The cabs are all so great. I was surprised by the 1x12!
I bet if you loaded a bass can it would make a great bass amp too!
Lemmy ran on cranked ‘Guitar Amp’ Marshalls at first.
Studios lay a Distressor on Bass guitar tracks, even in light music genres.
You’re right, use one’s imagination & the possibilities pop up!
Wow Andy... You're so freaking good. This pedal sounds awesome.
Great demo, Andy. This pedal really sounds good.
This is gonna complete my ua collection of ua pedals I actually want. Now I be able to stack 4 plexi style pedals into a plexi.
Andy could plug into a broken toaster and make it sound awesome!
FINALLY🎉🎉🎉
Finalmente!!!
Andy! Your playin’ is awesome ❤
Cheers from Germany!
Michael
By the way… this UAD Unit nailed it!!!
Yes yes yes✌🏽 .
sounds great ,But ive heard lots of M I A B pedals that sound great ,Especially when you hit them with a boss super overdrive .then you get instant J C M 800.But for 400.00 I would go with Origin effects hot rod.
So you need to disable cabs when going into an amp for the best performance? Has anyone run these into an FRFR with cab enabled?
Just wondering if it can do a Blackmore sound?
Get The Lead Out
Do u have to download the distortion
what
I’m not even a big midi fan but no midi on these pedals seems insane at that price point
Sounds incredible, but could be so much more if UAFX would give us an editor, a hi filter, midi, balanced out, etc. $400 for a Malaysian made pedal (designed in California) seems a little much. I sold my UAFX Woodrow that UAudio replaced under warranty because the other one just died for no reason. I'll probably sell the Dream and keep the Ruby.
These pedals seems to be made to break within a year just like the first batch from Avids Eleven Rack !

Somebody help me understand these digital amp emulator stomp boxes. If you're playing it into your amp, isn't your amp's qualities ruining any accuracy the emulation is trying to hit? If you're running into a DAW, why use a digital stomp box when you can use an amp plugin that will be much much more tweakable and accurate? The only scenario I can see these being useful for would be to run direct into a board at a gig or something....even then the emulation gets soured by their P.A. speakers etc. and $400? ...people on Sweetwater saying it sounds great right after explaining how they're running it into a Line 6 cabinet. lol.

FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS????
I want to see the versatility of these pedals; all you play is Rock!!
You want versatility of a pedal that models the most famous one trick ponies ever?
Scofield is waiting to kick your ass!
Artificial is as artificial does...
Yea it still sounds like a pedal.
Meh… get a tonex instead
Man most epic demo geez this guy is good
Thanks so much, I had fun with this one!
I was just about to order when I found out that you are forced to:
1. Have the latest mobile phone for the app
2. Use Bluetooth to access essential settings
I am buying all the UA amp pedals once UA decides to implement a standard USB editor/librarian !
Thnaks for demoing the clean tones - Plexis and Super 100s have a lot of headroom
Great demo here, sounds excellent in these examples!
If they put a TH30 or a Rockerverb into one of these, then I'm definitely sold.
That’s what I’m hoping comes next
Or a Peavey Bandit
Ive heard that lots of issues of this pedal thats why i did not insist myself to buy them
Exactly !

now we have Marshall, yeah !!! 💥🤟⭐⚡
nice tune brother
Hope the app more easy to operate than the tonex

Andy! No fuzz face??? I need to know if it will take fuzzes like the catalinbread DLS mklll!
Release an Orange Amp pedal UA, you cowards!
Andy’s demo is the best among other demos of LION!!
Andy is why I have 10x the pedals easily. Dude is a killer demo guitarist and salesman!
I tried the Lion and didn’t like it. The attack felt so dull unlike the real amp. And all the tones seemed really dark without setting the treble and presence to max.
....and still no MIDI ...

Hey @andy nice demo do you think you can get the Duane Allman tone from the super bass an jbl setting?
The cleans sound good but the overdrive is congested and muddy. It sounds like a cheap distortion pedal.
Andy is an og UA-cam guitar hero
Why do I keep hearing a warbling sound in the voice? Is it just me? Is this an issue with using a shotgun mic in an enclosed area?
Lee Brian Wilson Mark Allen James
As sad as this sounds, does anyone else feel like Andy is an old friend?
It’s like he’s been on my guitar journey with me - and cost me a fortune! 😂
Keep on doing what you do, buddy.
Respect from the U.K.
How’s it compared to a TONEX
I'm getting a ring or overtone in the vicinity of the 7th fret on the G and B strings. It's a slightly off major 3rd I think.
Anyone else experiencing this?!?
Sometimes digital effects sound weird when you play chords they kind of get muddy and digital washout but this one actually sounds pretty good
Nicely done Andy, sounds great as usual 👍 Side note, are you doing voice over for World of tanks ?
Hey Andy what is your signal chain with the Lion?
Wonder how it compares to the Friedman
I wanted the Bluesbreaker.
I’ve held off on pedals a bit after getting the Tonex and H90 - this may get me back in the game. What a great demo!
Thank you! I think you'd dig it ;)
@@AndyDemos
How about this compared to the Two Notes Revolt or the new Onus?
Or the Thermion Freeway?
I mean, why would anyone get the Two Notes Cab M+, when the OPUS is only $50 more, and one gets amp and cab, instead of just cab sim?
Or should I just get a Two Notes Torpedo?
I’d like something that’s a jack of all trades. Amp and Speaker in one is first in importance. Then, things like the Revolt being able to be used as a preamp in another amp, as well as three amp voicings.
I’m a pedal guy though, so Inonly need a clean/crunch type channel, that has headroom.
sounds so muddy
Is it the same models as in the ox stomp? RN I don't really see much benefit, personally, in not just going with ox stomp. 🤷
Good question! The Lion is incorporating the same dynamic speaker modeling as the OX but also pairs it with a Marshall Plexi emulation. The OX Stomp is a more in-depth cab/mic emulator (22 cabs, 6 mics) so you can use your own preamp/amp-in-a-box pedals.
Really sounds like a classic early Marshall, well worth the 4 bills especially when you consider an actual Marshall head costs 3k...
The bonus cabs are indicated with the red light, isn't ?
green
I was really hoping they would offer JCM800 as one of the modes. Oh well, I guess it's a JIM'S 800 by TC for me.
I got the Lawrence Pedross Eighty7;
Converts to 18v internally, option is a Jose modded Plexi, also.
Lots of good JCM800 things out there, including the TC Elecs box, but they mostly deal with the saturated or ‘engineer’s prerogative’ of ‘modding’ the Marshall w/no disable.
This thing does that resistor delayed preamp ‘phantom bass bubbling’ I could only get out of a real JCM800.
I hate the teal color case, however, Larry was thinking ‘Miami Vice’ colors, I guess.
He sells a black one now.
I’m thinking, sell this teal box & buy a black one.
Now. Imagine you could get this and the Dream 65 and actually control presets with midi. Oh wait, you can’t. You have to bend over and mess with knobs all the time. These sound great but they’re more geared to desktop use. In which case why didn’t the plugin company just make a plugin…
I wonder why the plugin company that requires you to own special hardware to even use their plugins and monetizes everything possible didn't make using their pedals more convenient...
Attach a blutooth iPhone to a stand & disable the screen timer turning off.
That’s how you alter controls on all their pedals.
You can have 2 mode and switch between them using one stomp
UA pedal amps sound amazing as do the effects but what's with the lack of midi? Why not a full on modeler with some fx included? Forget the pricing, there's just products with better workflows that sound great too. The whole product line perplexes me but I give credit to the amazing tones they offer.
“They’re more geared towards desktop use” You should tell that to the thousands of people using them on their boards. Lol.
Andy rules.
Any chance you can demo this on bass?
Hoping for a Tonex capture on this now!
Is the tonex really that good?
Tonex is great, but I still use my Dream 65 for those sounds.
@@Meatman23 i need a amp pedal for platlying new wave and jangly 80s tones... Im looking at either the dream or the ruby.
@@BobbyGeneric145 of the 2, I'd get the Dream.
@@BobbyGeneric145 I guess Tones can get you the tones you want. But getting the feel of the amp is what the current search is above.I hope this pedal would feel like you're playing through an arm more than just the tone.
Yes!
Dude, these new so called MIAB's sound a bit thin. My Xotic SL drive has the big Marshall sound rockers love for a whole lot less than this box. Just sayin
Was his voice sounding AI during the b-roll?
I didn't hear the EVH brown sound.
so many pretenders claiming to deliver the brown sound in a pedal...still haven't heard it yet
Sounds good but it's missing the plexi plink... That bright cap sound.
There is a bright cap switch in the app. Maybe it was disabled.
Can you run one output to the PA with amp sim on, and the other output to a real amp's fx return with the amp sim off?
Really wonder why everybody is hearing a marshall. Well, I don't.
More emphasis on humbuckers. Sounds great.
Why would I need this for home recording if I already have an Apollo Twin and plug-ins?
Just when I was set to buy the latest Marshall amp, this comes along...
MUD!!
Only $400. I think all pedals should be $400. NOT! Just sayin
If you aren't playing out of a guitar speaker cab, it's not fun
Does Reverb musicians know how to play anything but rock to advertise musical equipment? What happened to R&B, Contemporary, etc! What a turn-off!!
I'm constantly striving to match the gear I'm demoing with the genre that utilized it the most. Marshall Super Leads were born out of 60s-70s Rock. I've also been known to play R&B, Jazz, Funk, Shoegaze, and Metal in other demos. Maybe some of those won't turn you off.
It would be nice to see if you could! As I remember Motown and other R&B labels was the top genre in the 60's and 70's. Rock was born out of R&B! Just say'n! I'm not talking about Rap, just to be clear, Some Jazz would be great!@@AndyDemos
I am also a pretty good consumer of Reverb products, I would like to see something more versatile on your Podcasts!@@AndyDemos
@@theviolingeek I love Jazz too. It’s just not the right choice for this particular product, in my opinion. Thanks!

I really liked that 1st Bonus Cab. Awesome
Love it Andy!
Am I the only one hoping for an UA Multi FX Pedal? 🫡
Yep
