I got 1 of these many yrs ago. Really liked it. Was driving a B Egnator modded Twin then. All of it stolen. Now I got 2 of them. 1 of shelf is a 5 knob with the cord. A fine pedal but big. Got 1 of these 3 knob that's been modded by Fromel with a bias knob. It's on my board with 2 other modded drives. A Meat and 3 Soul food and a Alchemy modded Blues driver. For the Tube driver I'm running a 12av7 tube and using 18v of power to help keep the wild out of it. Stacking with the other drives gives me many tones a foot stomp away. With out touching gain knobs on any of the drives. Plus a Dime wah and a Wampler dB-1 boost. All kinds of noise options. Love this pedal for very long time. Sick thing is I won this on a Ebay bid deal where no one else bid. $167.
Sorry to hear that your gear got stolen. That's horrible. This pedal is very cool. Sadly, I parted with it but should have kept mine. I really liked what it did, although I found it to be a bit of a one trick pony...but what a trick it was. What made you choose the 12av7 preamp tube?
@@TheToneLounge I have to disagree. Mine's been modded but I'm running it at 18v and using a 12au tube. 18v gives more headroom before crazy distortion kicks in. And using this tube also gives more room before heavy tone starts.
Hands-down, the best demo video of this pedal I’ve seen and heard. I own this pedal as well. Bought it new back in ‘95 from a local music store here inn the Detroit area. Love this thing and will never get rid of it. I agree 100% about finding the “sweet spot” and I agree as well about the darker EQ. It’s a truly wonderful overdrive pedal. It’s a one-trick pony, but it does that trick extraordinarily well.
Thanks for the kind words Pete. There aren't very many videos of this pedal. The best by far, is the demo of Andy Timmons showing off his rig for Mesa Boogie. It's a two part video, and he shows this pedal and how he uses it.
I use this pedal for more than 15 years now. I have two of them. My favorite setting is very close to yours. Just put a Tube Screamer before and see the magic happens. For violin tone (EJ signature) close the tone pot to something like 6, and try in the position 4 of the strat (bridge and middle). Hope you enjoy.
Yeah it's a very cool pedal. I no longer own it, but when I did I enjoyed it with a Way Huge Green Rhino and a Wampler Tumnus. I now play a Vahlbruch Kaluna, which is a tube based overdrive that sounds phenomenal.
Great and honest demo sir. Can you make a video with Big Muff? It sounds similar at high saturation levels but more fizzy.. I cannot deal with my beloved Big Muff into my Vox
Great video, as always, thanks Jonathan! Your playing is superb and you are able to demonstrate what the pedal can do with single coils and humbuckers, while finding useful tones all the way along! How does it sound with a P90? Cheers. :)
@@TheToneLounge I can see that. They both really thump in the low end. I picked up a Spaceman Saturn VI that should be here today. I have an idea in my head what it will sound like with an OCD, but I've not heard them together yet. Fingers crossed.
I got thispedal on my board. Mines been modded with a bias knob and I'm using a 12av7 Tube. Also running it at 18v instead of 9v. Stacking with a Alchemy modded Blues driver and a Meat and 3 modded Soul food. With these 3 drives through a Boogie S O B, using either a Strat or Paul I get a lot of diversity in tones. Only problem is I'm getting to the point where I'm actually using a much cleaner sound more and more. Mostly don't even use my pedalboard just straight into amp. Also on board is a Dime wah and silent modded 10 band EQ that splits 18v with T Driver.
I lied... I snuck it in after getting kids on laptops. Nicely done. If it’s good enough for David Gilmour, it’s good enough for me to sound nothing like him ;)
try this: put the tone cut all the way up (100%) and then put the treble and bass on the top boost channel on 75%. And then just lower the eq on the pedal...let me know what you think of that?

They are designed to take 9v. Can they take 12 or 18v as well??
@hyagwvuahebrir9150 No, they cannot, sadly.

Great pedal. Along with Andy T this pedal saw a lot of action with Eric Johnson too.
I think Eric J used the 4 knob version, is that correct?
Excellent work!
Thank you!
Amazing Pedal
What do you like about it?
Whoa sweeet love it man dam your 👑Vox always sounds so good.
Thanks! It's just a regular AC15, nothing fancy. IT's all about the mic placement. ;)
Great demo, great pedal!
Thanks Andy!
That sounds great
Thanks Kyle, it is a great pedal.

I'm trying to get my hands on one. I'll see if I can make the two play nice. ;)

It sounds great with P90s. It really beefs it up. It's just a bit noisy with that style of pickups.
That sounds really nice! Gotta check your vids to see if you stacked this with an OCD. That's one of the ODs I use.
I have not. They were too similar in the way they add gain, so I did not stack them.

👍🇺🇸❤TREBLE BOOSTER........is the way 2 go......
I love Treble Boosters. Once you figure out how to use them, they become a mainstay on your board.

un sonido muy parecido a un valvular
Suena muy parecido a la distorsión de un amplificador de válvulas.
