So while in headless mode when pushing forward or away from you on the right gimbal will cause the quad to move away from you in it's original heading. When pulling back or down on the right gimbal the quad will come back in the direction from which it started. The orientation of the quad will have no effect on the right stick ( gimbal ) . So forward, back, left and right will always be the same no matter the direction the quad is facing. So you can use the left gimbal and yaw the quad none stop while pushing forward on the right and the quad will fly a straight line while spinning. So you could take video of a football game following the action without worry down the side line while being free to only worry about where you wanna film.
Or at least that's what I gather from your video. Good job on these videos Mike. Your helping a lot of newcomers to an awesome hobby . Could be a career in the future. Thanks
Mike, here is and idea, if you could put on a GOPRO on a head band you could later do a split screen showing both drone and controller at the same time - keep up the great work.
Thanks bro i wish i had saw your video before i took the first one back to Walmart and exchanged it for another one because I thought something was wrong with the directional. I get it a lot better now what headless mode is, but I feel like headless mode should be actually called normal mode because it seems like it makes more sense for left to be left, right to be right forward to be forward back to be back.
Mike's Drones and More Yeah, much easier to use the normal mode. Just let you know that my Promark drone camera is no longer functioning and its WiFi is also dead and it doesn't show up in a list anymore but it still flies pretty good on a wind speed at 12 mph. I'm going to have a new Phantom 3 Standard drone next week, anyway. My friend let me try out his new Phantom 3 Standard drone today and did very well at it. My pilot skill is successful with it. Phantom drones have no problem with the wind speed up to 22 mph which is great.
Mike's Drones and More Oh, cool! I ordered mine yesterday morning most stores, except Best Buy, are out of DJI Phantom this week. I can't wait to have my hands on a new DJI Phantom 3 Standard by this Thursday. lol
Does headless mode direction changes when e.g you are flying and are facing north, you turned towards east. Will the drone direction be based on north or does it change to east?
what you mean is when I'm still flying in the air,I can still change the headless mode direction right?by quickly hitting the on and off button of the headless mode to switch to my desired position without landing it.
***** yeah I just watched the trim video ... so what your saying is if I factory reset it , it will hover properly .cause once I power it on... I just goes up- until I use the remote to bring t back to me- makes me scared to fly it without risk of losing it
I can't get any signal from my camera I have a Moto Z which is a great phone, it certainly doesn't behave like a zombie but with this drone it just freezes up and the phone app is choppy and reacts with a huge delay if ever weaks up, it takes forever to sync up if at all...It is a disaster and disapointement for my kids, so Is there a solution for such a dilema or should I give the curse of Moctezuma to its creators??
I think that you've missed a couple of important points, Mike. Setting headless mode as you did before take-off defines a line on the ground that the pitch (forward/back) and roll (left/right)stick directs the quad parallel/at right angles to. (Right stick on a mode 2 controller as you were using.) So if you fly directly forward and spin the quad then pull directly back the quad will return to you along that line as you showed. BUT... if you fly the quad to a position off to one side of the set line and pull directly back on the right stick the quad will fly along a line PARALLEL to the original line. To return a quad while in headless mode, stand facing along that original line and pull the right stick to the opposite side of its quadrant to the drone's location. I.E. If it is off to your left push the stick right, if directly behind push forward etc. (Always allow for any wind drift.) If you reset the headless direction mid-flight - by landing, selecting a new line and pulling both sticks to lower left on a Syma X8 of which this appears to be a clone- you must then stand facing along the newly defined line. Many new flyers get into trouble by flying their new toy (non-GPS) way out there then trying to engage headless and use the (so-called) "return to home" button only to see their quad fly off into the wide blue yonder.
Great easy video to explain headless mode on a drone
Great, easy to understand explanation.
Thanks
Thanks for your post. Helped me to understand the "headless" mode. Thanks again!
You're welcome and thanks for watching
just purchased the warrior version they put out and your videos have been very helpful! thanks and keep up the awsome vids!
Awesome glad they are helping.

thank you your the first to talk about that. i was wondering what it was....
Thanks and thanks for watching
Thanks 🙏

Kool! Thanks for explaining!
Thank you very much.... 👍
Thanks for your videos !
Your welcome and thanks for watching
your intro remained me of that 1980s HBO intro cool.
Ha, that's what it reminds me of too! Ah, memories :)
i got 4 of promark p70 drones for christmas
Thanks for that. Very informative videos man.Quick question: Will operating in headless mode effect the drones power consumption?
Thanks man. Its help me either ..
Your welcome and thanks for watching
Mike's Drones and More ya man. Btw how to make own animation for starting the video ?
I hired a graphics artist to make mine for me
Mike, here is and idea, if you could put on a GOPRO on a head band you could later do a split screen showing both drone and controller at the same time - keep up the great work.
Ya I have been thinking about that and so have one now actually. Thanks for the suggestion
Nice video
Thanks
nice video, I noticed the decals are mounted on the front for front orientation.
Yes they are
Thumbnail lit😂💥🔥
Thank you so much
Your welcome and thanks for watching
I see you left the blade guards off. Any better without them? Or do they just break easily??
its safer and yes they break off easily
Sheepy are you saying the drone is safer without them?
Thank you. I understand it now.

Most drones don't use the headless mode like DJI and racing drones for sure. It's more of a help you get started
i like the intro!👍
Hayden Keller same
Hi thanks for sharing. You might wanna change the title for headless mode and regular mode with flight example. There arent any videos like yours.
is there anyway to make your yah on the right stick like you can with some drones?
Depending , each quad is different some controllers allow you to change from mode one and two which changes the way the sticks ( gimbals ) respond.
Thanks for well explanation! ☺ I tested a headless mode and hot me confused because it was different from a normal mode.

Where can I get more batteries for the drone cuz as u know it's only 12 min
Mike's Drones and More Thanks a lot for the fast reply man and I'll take a look right now .
Hey Mike can you explain to me why my from powers up and just left up high in the sky! How do I calibrate the hover height
Aurelio DeBernard Jr you probably need to do the reset factory button and then use the trim buttons. I have a video on how to trim as well
***** yeah I just watched the trim video ... so what your saying is if I factory reset it , it will hover properly .cause once I power it on... I just goes up- until I use the remote to bring t back to me- makes me scared to fly it without risk of losing it
Sorry for the delay so was at church. Ya I would try that and see if that helps. If not it maybe the controller itself is bad?
How do you put it in headless mode from app without using controller
I think the compass little picture thing in the app changes it into headless mode.
Can you still fly a proark shadow in gps mode with no phone
I'm going to be testing that this week
Yes
John Henry DON'T USE GPS MODE IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO
hi my drone dont take a video i put a sd card but not have any picture or video
nice intro
Do you fly in hm most of the time
No I don't I fly in non headless mode. Once you learn how to fly normal it really messes with you.
U turned the camera but you didn't mention how you turned the camera
Vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv thnx
For this video
If you change your direction of remote, then the headless mode wont work.

theoztreecrasher thanks man... Finally I've got the answer that I needed. I really thought my x8c was broken.
