    Salut Beau! Merci pour la video. I enrolled in an art class "Studio Course" and the teacher handed me a "Proposed Contract" with the intention of explaining what I intend to do with my art in the next six months.(????) Panic attack for me because I don't have a clue how to go about this. But thanks to your guidance and information of this process, I feel more confident about engaging in this task. Un millón de gracias.

    This is really, really good! I’m glad u mentioned working on a collection“after work.” I cannot financially afford to paint full time- been there- done that- and starved. I have done photography collections bec that’s my background but I’m still wondering if I’m skilled enough to paint my vision. You gave me inspiration to do it anyway and begin with narrowing down my ideas. Ty! !

      Sometimes you have to work on your hobby on nights and weekends until it can gradually turn into a dependent source of income. Otherwise vacations can also be taken away from "work" to pursue passions and interests more intensely like doing an artist residency or a workshop. Keeping the art alive is difficult when life gets busy but there is a way if you make time for it :)

      Beau B. Frank Thank you for saying these things. It’s so true and I don’t see a lot of yt professional artists talk about working to make money and then scheduling in painting to accomplish an artistic vision. And then there are other obligations to kids, family etc. but painting is such a vital part of me that I have to schedule it in. What is an artist residency?

      Working in series can open up a lot of doors for artists to find a practice and rhythm with what and how they paint!

    Great video as always! I'm learning so much from your channel! I'm not sure if you already talked about the canvas you use for your oil paintings. It would be very interesting to know if you stretch your canvas yourself or if you use a different material like a board and so on...just your general thoughts about the surface you work on... :)

      Glad to hear David, I paint on wood panels which is what I talk about in my first video. I learned how to stretch a canvas but It takes a bit of practice and you need to order all the materials!

    Can I ask, how many works are usually in a collection? Thanks!

    • @BeauBFrank
      @BeauBFrank  5 років тому

      The number varies on what direction you are taking with your collection. I would say the minimum is 2, but collections can grow and evolve with time. They can be put aside and be picked up again later. The further you lean into the collection to explore it, the more you'll get out of it!

      I would say work on three pieces at the same time, then several more in same series at the SAME TIME. this way when you get stumped or bored with one piece, you switch to the other ones. try to at least do 9, thus three pieces each at three periods of time, 👍
