The confident go-getter, the nurturing simpleton, the quick-witted firecracker, the horny vixen. From The Golden Girls to Designing Women to Living Single to Sex and the City to Insecure, there's a reason these women character tropes have endured on television for decades.
More than simple stock characters, they're modern interpretations and amalgamations of four powerful, ever-lasting female archetypes we all know from mythology, folklore, literature and art: the Queen, the Mother, the Sage and the Lover.
Let's explore some of the deeper meanings, symbolism, and synergies between these archetypes and their on-screen avatars, now with The Sage.

I am a sage Virgo. I found my connections interesting especially when you spoke about the definition of “vir”. I resonate with the entire video ❤️

This was extremely well done and an interesting take on this archetype. I’ve watched it twice already!

I just started learning about female archetypes last night and my result on every test is the sage. I relate to it so much! General personality tests I question a lot but this I felt actually described me

Can you make a video on the maiden archetype? Or the mystic?

Ohh thank you for the suggestions! I focused on the four that are most common on TV foursomes so I covered the maiden *a little* in the Mother video because for the purposes of understanding characters, the mother and maiden function similarly. I actually don’t see a big difference between the sage and the mystic 🤔 I’ve seen and read descriptions of feminine archetypes that differentiate the two archetypes but I think they’re two sides of the same coin, especially on television shows.
All that to say I’m really interested in both of those ideas but it would be different than these videos which are through the lens of sitcom characters. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!!!

@@blemmestudiesactually, I would like to understand why you see the sage and mystic as the same. Now that would be a good video.

It's so cool once you see how these same characters show up over and over in shows and movies! I see them in Waiting to Exhale, a teeny bit in Girlfriends and lots of other media too.
