Best dog breed I’ve ever had. Labs are great but do not compare to a Chessie.

While owning and operating the Green Rock Pheasant Farm and Hunting Club in California during the 1960s we raised approx, 25,000 Pheasants per year and we were helped every day by our 2 Chessies. Of the numerous breeds of dogs used at the Hunting Club no Pointing or Flushing breed could even compare with a Chessie. It helped that our Chessies had been around Pheasants every day of their lives. We often used them to retrieve ducks and geese on open water of San Francisco Bay tributaries.

I've had this breed for some years now and live in England where they are a scarce breed. I work in a riparian environment and mine come to work with me spending hours by rivers and lakes on an almost daily basis. Also used as a gundog with lots of work available.

The Chesapeake Bay retriever looks like a Labrador because that's one of the ancestors in the breed and that's why they look like a lab that has a perm and they're also known as the lab just not friendly like the lab

Eye color correction. The eyes do not have to be BRIGHT yellow or amber and contrast the coat color. Per the official AKC Breed Standard "Eyes are to be medium large, very clear, of yellowish or amber color and wide apart."

Just starting to watch the video. Correction: Chesapeakes are slightly longer than tall. Per the official AKC Breed Standard "Proportion Height from the top of the shoulder blades to the ground should be slightly less than the body length from the breastbone to the point of buttocks."
