That will be in the next vid - I am pretty sure I recorded it, but I didn't have suitable grease, so had to get some. I haven't done anything further. I'm heading into finals at the moment so progress on this project is again at a crawl.
But if you are in a hurry, wind the pulley by hand to get the sled about 1 or 2 inches away from the home position, and then on the left is a screw that holds the rod in place. Unscrew and the small L bracket will move forward. Take care when doing this as you don't want to damage the string. Slide the rod out, and clean and regrease. But of course, check the condition of the plastics. Mine has a huge split that needs repairing.

@@felix_da_katze Thank you! Will take a look but not very well versed so may wait for video to be safe. Just got it off craigslist and he said it was finicky moving it left because it hasn't been used in awhile hopefully nothing else wrong.
Also, Good luck with finals mate just started next quarter here

Cheers! Yeah, it is simple, but I want to make videos about a complete task. Put them all together and you will have overhauled your machine. That's the idea, anyway :)

Hello Felix, I see in your video that the armlift plastic is broken ( where de silicon is on the ribbled copper iron) can you tell me how did you rapair it? Mine is broken at excactly the same place, . I wanted to put special silicon on it to avoid too fast dropping on the vinyl..greetings from Henk out of the Netherlands

I've covered the repair in a couple of videos - one in this series, and one on a previous SL-5. Basically you need to take it apart, clean the plastics up, and I used a special plastic repair kit, that as far as I know may only be available in Japan. But I would guess there is something similar available in other countries. But never fear, if you can't get anything like that, simple epoxy to hold the ribbed brass in place will work, provided there is enough plastics left to hold it, which is very likely as they basically just stress fracture. Let the epoxy mushroom out a little on each end, and it should hold well enough to be serviceable. Hobby shops, especially those dealing with remote controlled cars etc are probably a good source to look for plastic repair kits. You can also get heavy silicone oil there to apply to the inner axle for damping the drop.

Do you have a video on how to set the speed on this turntable? Mine is running a bit slow.

My SL-QL5 seems to play fine, but the needle drags across the record on return. What the heck would cause this?

Sounds like it isn't lifting up properly. Cracked plastics or maybe something wrong with the solenoid that raises the arm, are where I'd be looking first. You'll need to take the covers off and have a look.
