If Adela Zaharia won first prize being bland and unexciting, the rest must have been dreadful. Yet, this is 7 years ago, I believe she is much less unexciting now and probably less bland too. I couldn't watch her live in Rigoletto last year because she didn't do the last performance, scheduled after Christmas day (probably preferred to stay with family than do one more Gilda in a very awful and challenging staging), but from the feedback I had, she did a good job, not at all bland or unexciting.
