I would love to know your thoughts on PanPastels. Have you tried them? And what are your tips for working with them? 🥰
I would like more colored pencil vids can you pls do more and possibly one with tips on portraits and relism
I have tried oil pastels. What are the differences between the two?
Kirsty Partridge Art your shirt is beautiful.
Thank you for all your help with my drawing, you’re amazing.
i didn't try them because it is really expensieve but i think it is a good material
As a person of color, I have so much love and respect for you speaking out about how disappointing the lack of deeper skin tones in the set is. The fact that you noticed it, were bothered by it, and chose to say something about the lack of inclusivity is a beautiful example of what it means to be an ally! Regardless of whether you were speaking from an artist standpoint or an ethical one, I appreciate it!
Oh Kay An “ally”? Is that what we’re calling decent people now. Odd.
@@yorutsumetai True, much respect to you...
Dont care how it's been spelled you obviously understood the comment. Having said that, yes, I too thought it showed wonderful awareness that skin tones in this set of pastels are definitely limited. It's about time that more companies recognize the diversity existing in skin tones.
@Oh Kay Thanks for mentioning that b/c as a fellow artist and one of color, I also appreciated that she commented about it.
Sir Havin I hear you. In my opinion, there is a major difference between being a “decent person” & being an ally aka a person who really helps/protects/supports others aka a person who wants to be more than decent.
That eye detail is EYE POPPING! 😳 The bottom eyelids thin edge even has detail. I can't even draw the edge properly 😂
I have never tried them, but they look like they are really fun to use.
Me who can’t use my normal pastels: interesting
Try out more mediums. This doesn’t mean anything maybe you’ll pick up these :)
Why can't you use your normal pastels, just curious...
charlottesmom I just suck at using them in a good way XD they tend to not work well with most of my work nor any of the paper types that I have
lol
Did you end up trying Pan Pastels?
I started using these for my “under painting” and it dramatically improved my time spent on colored pencil drawings. I love the way they cover the paper .
You really motivated me to get back to drawing... thank you so much for inspiring my art soul.
Ciroc VSOP that’s amazing to hear! 🥰
her accent and her English are amazing im improving my English and my painting by watching her channel. and actually you are the best. ❤️ your student from Egypt 🇪🇬
My first though was: *are those pastels or cosmetics* 😂
And seriously - they are pricey, got two skin-tone-friendly for the backgrounds etc, will buy one - two more when could afford. Also - I use a cheap silicon-sponges, cotton buds and a plethora of other improvised tools as with "normal" pastels and charcoal😉.
Ina Anja Kossowska I thought this was a make-up vid but I am more satisfied with this XD
Hahaha same thought it was cosmetic s
I am so glad I resisted the temptation to buy these over price products. You can get the same effect from scraping soft pastels and using pound shop make up sponges and I have learnt so much from finding cheaper alternatives
Thank you for highlighting the issue about the lack of darker colours in the portrait set. It ought to have been inclusive. I am shocked at disappointed with the manufacturer for making such a serious omission.
I appreciate you for caring enough to highlight this 🙏🏽
I’ve had a set of pan pastels for years, but didn’t know really how to use them so thank you so much for doing this video! I originally bought the pastels for a versa mark ink set, using the pastels to color the invisible ink outlines.
Your art is as beautiful as you!! ❤️ & Your videos are always a treat to watch Kirsty!
I nearly cried...well, actually my eyes teared up when you mentioned and pushed back on the exclusion of other people’s flesh tones, like mine. Thank you so much. ❤️👍🏽❤️
I can't tell you how helpful your videos are to me! I'm able to take what I've learned from this channel and DRAMATICALLY improve my work! I wish you could see it. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for everything!
Almost at a million it seems like just yesterday you were at 200k! Love seeing you grow as a channel, keep up the awesome work!
The big SPONGE i like to use as a pallete to mix the pastel on💕 great video’s
I’m definitely trying these now! Also, thank you for helping me get back into art! You had me getting excited to try colored pencils and now this!
I’d love to try them but the expense holds me back. Soft pastels are more affordable but messy as hell. If you haven’t tried them I recommend giving it a go. Also fairly good for faster drawings.
They last 40% longer than regular pastels on the plus side. They are great, you should try them :)
I like to use them for backgrounds and underpainting, getting a lot of base colour down very quickly. Mainly browns, light and dark tints. Last ages.
I love my pan pastels! They’ve saved a lot of art pieces when I wasn’t very happy with how they were looking. They blend like a dream and the smallest amount goes such a long way.
I've had the entire set for a few years now. The full set has lids for each individual color. I don't like the sponge tools they include, so I use tools made for chalk pastels. I find they last longer. If you get the blenders, course/fine, black/white, it adds more variety to what you can do.
What kind of tools?
Which tools for chalk pastels are you talking about?
I bought a 5 colour set that just has primary colours + black and white 2 years ago and used them once - you've inspired me to get them out again! love your videos
I just tried out PanPastel for the first time and really like that you can block in a section of color fast then develop color on top with colored pencils
OMG THANKYOU FOR THIS I AM PASTEL ARTIST 😍 FROM THE PHILIPPINES❤️
uy andito din si lods haha
Wooo mga pilipino
You can do everything about art!!!!
You're the most talented girl l know
I love the idea of using pans as a time saver! Thank you for showing us how to approach using them. Ordering the pet set.
Amazing video Kirsty! I've always wanted to try these ❤️I love pastel work!
You are wonderful and so is your art! Even if youve never used it before, youre work is always amazing! Thank you!
Kirsty!! THANK YOU!! You are both an excellent Artist as well as a super wonderful instructor! 😊💕🌹
For trying it for the first time, this came out amazing! Gorgeous and inspirational work.
I was waiting for tutorial on pastel. Thank you.❣️❣️❣️
Hi Kirsty! I bought these a few years ago. I love them. They are buttery and smooth. Lots of saturated color and they work really well with layering colored pencils. I enjoy them very much!! Love these videos!!!
Pan pastels are my absolute fave! I’ve used them for 4 years and I love them so much, they are the perfect base. I only have a set of 10 and I haven’t had to replace any pans yet. I draw a lot of people with dark skin and they have two browns that work amazingly for the base. It is a shame they didn't include darker colours in this portrait set though - we're always an afterthought. One big tip is to use fixative/hairspray before you layer with colour pencils.
IDK if this is true so maybe you should test this but I heard that hairspray tends to yellow over time or any other changes and if it is Ent to hard can you try and prove this?
Pladyduck Godzilla I haven’t found that and as I said I’ve been using it for years. All my drawings are still intact
Pladyduck Godzilla also, I draw on coloured paper and not white - so maybe that has an effect
they’re so fun I just love them idk why
I'd love to see more videos with pan pastels! I'd also really like if you could recommend which colors you would have wanted from their catalog for a portrait set! And tips and tricks, etc. Lovely video as always! Thanks!
I want to try these too after seeing your work come to life so quickly. Lovely review and tutorial 😁
There's no video Kirsty can post that doesn't help me in a way😊❤Thank you Kirsty
I absolutely love love love how you speak about inclusiveness in art supplies. You are a truly amazing.
Wow,love it. I’ve used these. Have entire set. Starting to paint entire paintings w just pans. Well, except for details. I’m having a great time. They r wonderful..
I have never used pastels but these look amazing! It’s like being a makeup artist! Your eye drawing is amazing!
this is what i like about this channel, giving real reviews and amazing tips .....
Your a very talented Lady. Thanks for the demo, a pleasure to watch an artist at work
I adore my pan pastels! I have almost the complete set from adding them to my collection over the years. There is a 10 and 20 pan plastic snap-in palette for them (I have 3 of the 20 pan palettes filled and need another one for the mediums!). I usually use them for my background layers, then go over with stick pastels or go right over them with acrylics and mixed media. Thanks for a great video! I do abstract work, so it was "eye opening" 😁 to watch your process. 🎨😍
If there something I've learned from you,it's trying new things. You aren't scared if you fail, as long as you keep learning. That's something im finding hard to do. But I really haven't tried pan pastel and I think I would
It looks very interesting how nice it blends and soft blends of colors.
almost at a million subscribers!!! 👏 👏 yours was the first watercolour video I watched like 4 years ago!!
This was really informative! I’ve never used them but was really inspired by your video, and might have to buy a set!
Have experienced using this product. My partner is a graphic artist and has several of the colour stacks. I found that a trip to my local beauty supply store rewarded me with similar product and comparable coverage. Also use of cosmetic wedges were a cost saving item too.
I am glad you tried this too, now you can work much quicker. I ordered the set of 20 pure colored. You can value this with white and black.
I've never tried pan pastels, but I love the way you got the crease on that eye.
They are great to use as base, I always use them for my Potraits‼️
wowww i've always been struggling with painting and now i see this i think i found what's really for me 🥺
I have just started using pan pastel and I find them incredible, smooth, an excellent pigment, and although expensive I think they will last a lot longer than pastel sticks.
That turned out so cool. I have never heard of these. They definitely look interesting and your review makes me want to give them a try.
Amazing video! learned a lot about Pan Pastels. Thank you, Kirsty.
Your art is amazing either you use pan pastels or watercolours or coloured pencils or graphite pencils.
It is YOU who make the art not the materials you use. I could have never made such a piece of art even if I had the best materials of the world.
You are amazing!! 💟
Beautiful effects in the iris
Your works are always amazing!
Such a talent!
You are such a gifted artist!!! Your artwork is beautiful 💖
I think they would be very useful for creating soft out-of-focus backgrounds quickly. I've been thinking sbout trying them and I'm more convinced now. Thank you for this review.
Wow Kirsty you're awesome!!!!!
Thank you so much for your motivates !!!!!
I just got some pan pastels a couple of months ago. I love them! I am using them in mixed media. I will put them over acrylics. I have been using cheap makeup sponges. Super excited to try them in a portrait.
Great video ,thank you for sharing !😍😘
excellent review and example of use,...thanks
Unintentional ASMR I was looking for a asmr video when I stumbled on this and I feel relaxed after watching this. Thank you!
One fun thing to try with them, is using them on black paper. Some of the colours pop so nicely on black paper (e.g. an aurora borealis scene, etc).
Oh great now I need these too, excellent video. 👍🏻
I am SO EXCITED to see this!!! My pan pastels are coming in Saturday & I can hardly wait!!! Pastel mat paper wont be here for another week though.
Wow these are cool love this demonstration! Maybe something I’d look into, probably not in the near future but eventually
I'm 13 years old and I like to draw pictures. Your videos really help me a lot.😊😊😍
So encouraging for me!!!
U r so close to 1 million! Am so glad for u!!! Ahhh!!! I love your videos, they r so helpful! U r gonna be a mum, that's so exciting, right?! Good luck for your future and always smile!
great vid- starting using them !
Excellent Kirsty. You covered a lot here. Thank you. Panpastel is also erasable and can be used for tracing the way we used to trace using graphite. Now we can trace giving a coloured line if one wants to match certain tones for certain areas....saves erasing a graphite line if not wanted.
Thank you for the tip! That’s great to know, I didn’t know they were erasable 🥰
I have this set - managed to buy it when it was on sale so much cheaper. Have since bought a black and the pan holders to put them in instead of unscrewing them all to find a colour. Also got the blending pastel to help with blending. Still learning how to use them properly but love them. Just need more colours! I can’t mix the colours I want very well - maybe one day in future I’ll get more...
I've got the set with all colors a few years ago and I looove them. This medium is so muuuuch fun to work with !! I've seen a lil hack that I would love to try in the future. Someone was using makeup brushes (the Artis brush dupes from amazon) with Pan pastels. I'm curious how it works 🤭
I went on a spending spree once and purchased a bunch of PanPastels, which I have only used a couple times. They are incredible for doing the blurred, distant, or bokeh backgrounds, especially. I have yet to use them as an underpainting for my colored pencils, but I am looking forward to trying it.
But first, I'm on to watercolors! I'll definitely be checking out your videos for them - it's incredible how versatile you are with the various mediums!
Your art is incredible and you’ve inspired me to get back to making art!! 🥰✨
Thank you and that’s awesome 🥰
It seamed realestic . I love this video
Brilliant video thanks for sharing ❤
Panpastle’s are absolutely fantastic for a easy blurred out background 😊
すごい video! すごいart!!共有していただきありがとう御座います。
Great video! Great art!! Thank you for sharing.
I have tried PanPastels and I like then a lot. I used them for landscapes,sky/ lay of the land and seascapes. Most often with pastels pencils.
I love it!!💗💯💯
I really want to try try it just like what you did
You are truly a great artist friend very beautiful realistic eye 👏👏👏
Hi Kirsty, a few weeks back I was on the phone to my kid brother who's into his art and his solution for black was some kiwi shoe polish. Now, I have never used pan pastels but watching your vid I imagine it'd work relatively well.
I really like this
And I would like to try
Thank you for uploading ...
I LUUUUV Pan Pastels! They're expensive, but a little goes a long way! This video was made in May, so I'm sure you've had time to work with them. There is one thing you may not have tried. I did it just for fun. Now I do it regularly. Use them on black paper. The results are unique and really cool! It was a pleasant surprise!
I’m drawing with pan pastels since 2017 and I love to use them but they are very expensive and I had to buy a few more colors. Your drawing looks amazing and would love to see some more videos with pan pastels 💗🥰
I have been using them for the past five years I find them a fun medium. Recently I found knives and covers and combo packs which I will be checking out soon. I really enjoy working with PANPASTELS a lot. I been using the landscape colors and basic colors. My biggest problem is cleaning the pads and making sure the pads fits the knives I have couple of pads that doesn't fit the knives included in box. I like using pastels pencils for fine details,I trying your and trying colored pencils. Be safe, strong and healthy. AND KEEP YOUR PENCILS SHARPENED AND YOUR BRUSHES WET.
Your voice is soo sweet and makes me keep watching. It takes your video to another level.
Aww thank you 🥰
I’m late, but you inspire me to do art so much. Thank you! 💕
That eye is crazy!! I just bought the 20 piece set of Pan Pastels...looking forward to messing around with it! great job with the eye!
I haven't tried these yet, but have been considering it. Watching this was definitely worth it - gave me some insight on whether or not I should spend the money on them.
I always wanted to try pastels and watching your video Makes me wanna go get some pastels right now.
They were really fun to use 🥰
The large round sponge works well for clouds and large backgrounds.
Hi Kirsty . Love your channel .. Love the way you explain each and everythung. You are my inspiration since 2016 when i wasnt in art and then I learned alot from you art tutorials especially in colour pencil. Now I am having my own UA-cam Art channel and I'm growing slowly but happily. Really want to say thanks for being my inspiration of this journey. God bless you
Thank you so much and congrats on starting your art channel! That’s great 🥰 keep being consistent and that growth will continue! Good luck 💕
@@KirstyPartridgeArt much grateful for your words.
Beautiful...I just bought the portrait set myself:)
Thank you for using & reviewing pan pastels. I have a a fair number of pans.. I have used them as base layer for my encaustic work. Beeswax & mixed media art . I had not tried mixing the pan pastels with coloured pencils. I will now! Seeing that the two work perfectly together. Your eye study is incredible. Pro: pan pastels last a long time, Colors blend very easily, Con : pan pastels are quite expensive, supplied applicator sponges wear out quickly,. hint: dollar store cosmetic wedges are low price and last much longer. Cotton swabs work well for fine detail. Great tutorial! Looking forward to seeing more of your work. I am a new subscriber.👩🎨
Fantastic work
