The layout owner really captured "the flavor" of the Carbondale, PA. He grew up there and still has friends and family in that area that he visits. He did a good job with abandoned and derelict buildings and the general view of a dirty grungy place that he says still looks like it did in the late 70's.
@@EmpireBeltRR I love that sort of modeling. I aspire to that in my SE Portland area. Homeless camps, N scale shopping carts, blue tarp camps, trash and debris. I am probably the only modeler west of the Mississippi who runs a "Southern Crescent" and a "Piedmont" circa 1976!
@@ScottJohnson4449 Your Southern Trains in the NE is like by NYC/PC here in Georgia. I get the "You model what? Why?" Realism is realism. The things you describe are unfortunately real. If you're going for the realistic layout you gotta have it! 😊
@@EmpireBeltRR I agree. And the good part is we can model whatever we want. I go from my normal 90s SP in Oregon to Rainbow Amtrak to 60s SP to 70s Southern . Who cares hahah!
@@EmpireBeltRR It definitely looked like a place the Bednar crew would frequent 😉 I have to thank Big Mike for turning me onto Pirogies. They have a great restaurant in the former NYC station in Berea, that serves them 😋 .
Must have been a nice visit to see this. The ground cover along with the structure's work paid off. Very nice video John. Does the D&H interchange with the Empire Belt?
Thank you Jimmy. It was a really nice layout to visit and the host was very gracious. As I have it figured in my head on April 1st 1976 Conrail took over the PC operations at Terminal Yard and the Empire Belt became part of the Conrail Shared Assets. The NY&A would later interchange freight traffic at North Side Yard in Empire City. At lest I think that's how I figured it out! The D&H could have acquired trackage rights to North Side Yard but I don't have any D&H power to simulate this.
Thank you for showing the whole train!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice. Very nice. Love the scenery.
Glad you enjoyed it. Justin has a spectacular layout.
I like that shot at 1:00 looks so real. Looks like a sweet layout. D&H in Georgia, makes sense hahah.
