Retainer Cleaning

- I use vinegar to clean some hard crusty white stuff off my retainer. When I used the cleaner provided by the orthodontist I appeared to have a minor allergic reaction. Though, I had previously had a similar reaction so I am not certain that this was the cause. Never the less I still am never going to use that cleaner again. I just use vinegar to dissolve off the contaminates.
Filmed early August 2019 and mid February 2020.
Hey man if we need to wear it our whole life then it will become very difficult to do it everyday. I mean people like me would just give up as I am very young not even 18 . It's a big commitment. Very difficult to fulfill. Can 't imagine it having your whole life
You don't have to clean it like this every single day, only when the white stuff builds up which is once in a while. And if your parents spent a ton of money on your braces for you to have straight teeth, the least you can do is wear the retainer at night. It's not that bad really.
Thank you
Try using the stuff you use to clean dentures. It works way better and faster. After about 15mins then you go with a brush and clean it.
I didn't mention it in the video but the (dissolve tablet in water based) stuff that the orthodontist gave me with it might have given me a mild allergic reaction. In any case I did not use that stuff again.
Doesn’t work
@@KestrelOwens what did it cause?
Could you please make a video on how to insert and remove your retainers properly and just any tips and tricks you learned over the years?
I believe I was told the proper way was to grab the back tongs and pull it down. I find sticking my tongue to it and pulling down a bit first (like trying a bit of suction cup imitation) to loosen it up helps a lot. I would just play around with what your tongue can do to help you get it out (and in).
You can also brush it to zipper clean it as well
Thanks man this video was helpful. By any chance do you know what that white stuff even is and if its harmful?
Don't know what it is. I assume it is not harmful.
That is tartar. Can be acidic and damage teeth, as I'm just finding out. Not a good thing to let build up on your retainer.

how to get red of new retainer taste/smell?
I never had this problem. I think it's because I don't eat with my retainer on
@@gwapaulo Mine was molded with some material and the smell/ taste of it was there for a few days but it eventually went away
Or you could just CLEAN your retainer
