„Creativity doesnˋt have a GPS location attached to it“ What a great expression! Thnx! Although my own language does have a wide perspective, english brings it to the point so easy. Thank you.
I love your videos; especially your approach to life, I get something out of each of your videos, both how to approach photography as well as life. Thanks, Alex
I’m just catching up on your videos for this year. The message of this episode resonates wonderfully. There is something about your approach which is both inspiring and accessible. Great work thank you.
Alister, thanks, I’ve entered your five tips to a note on my phone for ready reference. We have the privilege of living on 40 acres of oak woodland in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, so any excuses I come up with are pretty lame (but that hasn’t stopped me from inventing plenty). October through December I became obsessed with photographing fungi in our forest during a long spell of overcast, foggy, drizzly weather. The rewards of that experience, plus now your 5 tips, I intend to employ as a touchstone. That’s my plan (tip #2).
Thanks for this Alister. I’ve been in a total funk all of 2023, lost fitness and confidence. Taking negativity every where I go. “Work on your attitude” - I appreciate your bluntness. Needed that. All the best for 2024, I hope you enjoy Spain minus the pain!
Thank you so much for the inspiring advises! Yes, thats a good idea, making a vision board and defining some thoughts and plans for the year. As you mentioned, having a local project is what kicked ne off right now. I mean, I did have the wish to do so already since a year, but damn, always had excuses. Now I am going for it and am so excited about it! Already started a few days ago and got some interesting compositions and creative workflows I want to try out more to perfect it! Hope your health is getting better and have a good time in Spain! 🙏
Getting lost in that tsunami of images... Exactly my problem, Alister. Thank you for your practical advice which I will surely follow - Therapy for a lost photographer. Happy New Year.
Thanks for posting. Living at the mouth of the Columbia Gorge and a few hours from the Oregon coast, subject matter isn't really something I am limited on. It's always nice to see other peoples quality work and hear their thoughts. Have fun in Spain with Mr Gibbs.
This really spoke to me. I am at a point right now where time for going out with the camera is limited and I don't have a chance to travel anywhere special. This motivates me to put aside a little time and at least go someplace local. I am looking forward to your images taken with limited equipment. It should also help to motivate me. Love your channel.
Thanks for another helpful and inspiring post, Alister! It was very timely, because I had just defined a personal photography project for 2024. I'll remember your words. I'm glad your back is getting better! Enjoy your trip to Spain!
I would have some time over the summer for portfolio reviews. My mentorship program is currently full. Email me on xpresspix @ gmail.com or enquire through the website. Thanks very much

Hi Alister, is your Kase code available in Europe too now for chance?
Happy New year and thanks for the sound advice! As a matter of interest, what lens are you pairing with your Fuji xs-20?
Thanks, you too! I think I just have the 18-55, but Adam is supposed to be bringing a couple more
