    About this video:
    What is Kornit and what solutions do they bring to the market?
    Kornit started as an ink manufacturing company when it launched in 2002.
    Now, Kornit develops ink, all liquids, software, and printing machines themselves. They are a solution provider. Kornit's specific solution is a one-step process. They can take almost any garment that absorbs water and print directly on to it by applying a fixation agent.
    It takes a short amount of time for the product to be fulfilled from the moment it gets sold in a print shop. It gives you extreme versatility and flexibility.
    What role does Kornit play in the future of ecommerce?
    With ecommerce on the rise, the development of the fashion industry has shifted from pre-producing large amounts of garments. This is to minimize the number of unsold goods in retail shops.
    Kornit allows customers to print what is needed on demand. You can offer your designs on a variety of products without needing to maintain inventory. With our technology, we make it possible to express yourself without any additional effort.
    How have Kornit's machines and printing models evolved?
    Kornit started with a classic four-color machine, just for white t-shirts. Since then, continuous evolution was industrially oriented.
    We also went from a single pallet solution to machines with dual pallets and separate bridges that can print in white and color.
    This created a better and more efficient production flow.
    What does the fixation agent do and why do we need it?
    We need to use a fixation agent because we apply a water-based ink drop directly on the garments.
    Without the fixation agent the colors wouldn't stick to the garment.
    We're still evolving it, and continuously developing our ink. The latest version of our fixation agent doesn't have this vinegar smell anymore, because we've changed a couple of ingredients.
    How does the color profile of your print file affect the end result?
    Every single color has a certain value, and we transfer this value into the color space of our printing machines.
    Kornit machines range from four colors plus white to six colors plus white.
    The more colors the machine has, the more you can reproduce.
    In terms of color consistency, an adequate color profile gives you control over your reproduction.
    Why is it important to order a color swatch before you create or print your designs?
    The way colors are displayed on the screen and printed are like two different worlds. You can't directly compare one to the other.
    RGB, or monitor colors, are light-emitting colors. The more energy I apply, the brighter the color is going to be. In printing, it's the opposite way. The more pigment or more color I add, the darker the color gets.
    One easy way to overcome this is to assess the outcome of your design on the actual garment by using color swatches.
    With color swatches, you know what the actual reproduction of the color is going look like on that particular garment. It also makes a huge difference if you're printing on a natural-colored or a white t-shirt from thin or thick fabric, since that changes the appearance of colors as well.
    Make sure to watch the entire video to see how this all looks in action!

    Oh I really enjoyed this especially because I loathe the feel of the 'plastisol' when it is printed on black but now I understand. Thank you so much. I am currently going through as many Printful videos as I can to try and understand it all.

    Thanks for the video. Very intresting to see how Kornit machine works. Just ask myself about the thing with white underlayer. Do we need set up print file with white underlayer or create the machine automatically one white underlayer depends on colors? I understand it is automatically but I had a product ordered as sample and the print of lighter color than garment color was without white underlayer so the garment color came through the print. I saw another customer in product review he ordered black hoodie with white print color and the black garment color came really intensive through the white print. So that makes me ask the quest if it automatically by machine or do we need manually make white underlayer?

    • @PrintfulCustomPrinting
      @PrintfulCustomPrinting  3 роки тому +2

      We're adding an underlayer automatically to all prints except when printing on white fabric. When printing a white-only design (pure white), we'll print two layers of pure white, while for any other color it'll be these two white layers + an additional layer of the color. We suggest using white with a small toning in it (a tint of blue or yellow) to get an additional underlayer for your design.

    @3:37 Then why did my customer complain about vinegar smell? When i got the shirt from them it smell like vinegar.

    • @PrintfulCustomPrinting
      @PrintfulCustomPrinting  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for the feedback!:) When unpacking a new shirt or hoodie with a direct-to-garment (DTG) print, you might notice a vinegar-like smell or an off-white residue. It helps the ink bond with the fabric, and without it, the ink would flake off the garment. Don't worry, that's not unusual - it's from a fixation agent applied during the printing process and it's not permanent. The solution is simply to wash the garment! :)

      Hey! We use Kornit Water-based and NeoPigment inks for DTG techniques. They are Oeko-Tex™ certified and vegan. However, each process requires different type of inks. For example, for posters, we use Epson UltraChrome GS3 ink. This ink is GREENGUARD Gold certified.
