I knew JoCat would pick Potionomics for Best Looking Cast. His streams of that game have been delightful for many reasons, but him getting hot and bothered over the cast alongside his chat makes them excellent.
I still cry on occasion remembering the guy and how big a part of the gaming scene and my life he was. It does however gladden me that he will never have to suffer reading his Twitter replies again. Rest in Peace, John.
Unfortunately, that game’s probably a bit too complicated for him to play on stream. Frost has mentioned before that he doesn’t consider games at Monster Train’s level of complexity good content because they’re less accessible to new viewers
1v1 Slay the Streamer actually seems like an excellent video premise. I'd love to see these collabs played out with different costars that know the game, like Northernlion!
50:05 “they had a 3rd party come in and attempt to mix it” No, the mixing was done by Doom’s lead sound designer. I fondly remember nikNoturnal raging because said lead sound designer “forgot to cross fade.”
Ahhh I love seeing you and Jocat collab! And hearing all the game talk made me wish I'd played more games this year. I hope you guys do the d&d game thing and that it goes on YT since I can only catch you live on Saturdays! Now I wanna see the jocat half of this challenge, might have to go look up the vod :)
I would nominate Dwarf Fortress as best backseat experience of the year, game is so complicated at first try that having chat to help is absolutely great
As far as time goes, in my opinion it should also be base ten! Every measurement under a second and above a year already are, and yet the ones we use the most are completely arbitrary! We should just make it so it goes: 100 seconds to a minute, 100 minutes to an hour, 10 hours for each day, 10 days in a week, a month can still be 30 days just so the time frame doesn't get wildly different, but always the same amount per month, and of course, 10 months per year. They don't even have to have those exact names, it could be something like "millitime, centitime, decatime" etc
1:13:13 Why is nobody talking about the chatter that responded to the discussion about the Midwest? Frost said that we couldn't call the Midwest the Middle East, but then the chatter explained why: because then, _"the US would have to invade itself."_ That line goes SO hard. This is peak comedy, and we need to be talking about it. I think I've found the smartest chatter of all time.
Jocat asked about what game Frost was most excited to play in the next year and i immediately wanted to scream out Armored Core 6. It was such an unexpected treat to see at the rewards and i cant wait. I was legitimately Elden ring/FFXIV Endwalker levels of hype, and hearing that FromSoft was going to be developing it was just icing on the cake.
Dude. In Canada, we YEAR ROUND use Celsius to describe our weather form -50C to +40C. Everywhere that thinks that Fahrenheit has a better scale for weather is going to be underwater in 20 years so they don't count.
@@asonofliberty3662 I've always found that people who use but obscure their offensive language would be perfectly fine using the unobscured versions if they thought they could get away with it. Absolute trash people.
I really hope the creators of slay the spire create a mod or even a game mode where you can fight each other in a multiplayer versus match I think that would be stupid fun
Farenheit for daily use - my copium reasoning is that farenheir being a smaller unit of measurement and allows for more specificity on the "human feel" when you quickly check the temp
It's about twice as granular, and i guarantee you, if i put you in a room, you could not tell the difference between 72F and 74F, just as much as i couldn't tell between 21C and 22C.
@@sinnlos229 well, obviously, you couldn’t tell just as much, because you moved exactly the same amount. But I see your point, I’m just going to ignore it tho
The issue Fahrenheit people has with Celsius misses a very obvious point here, with Celsius, your everyday day doesn't need to go from 0 to 100, in Celsius: you generally only need around 0-30 degrees, thats all you generally need to care about for most things Or depending on where you are, -20 to 50 Why this *need* to go to 100??
'Human feel' of temperature is incredibly subjective and variable. How the temperature 'feels' to someone changes from city to city let alone country to country. Fahrenheit only achieves what you want it to achieve in a very small area of America. Whereas Celsius is an actual measurement that is consistent everywhere.
Fahrenheit and Celsius are both bad for everyday use. It basically comes down to what you've experienced using the system you were taught. I live using Fahrenheit since I'm in the U.S., but if I'm told it's 40°F outside, I don't inherently know what that feels like, I just know that I prefer 69-70°F at home and from that I can deduce that it is colder outside. But I still don't have any idea of how much colder it is. Is it barely colder? Is it near freezing? Neither is answered by just reading the number, or even comparing it to the temperature I know, since it wasn't designed for that purpose. The same situation applies to Celsius, which is built around the freezing and boiling points of pure water. And I'm not sure there is a great solution either. Having 0° be a baseline comfortable temperature would be helpful though.
@@asonofliberty3662 Not off the top of my head, no. I don't "know" what any temperature in Fahrenheit means, and I only barely know the freezing and boiling points of water in Celsius from science classes as a kid, and that they aren't really good representatives of hot and cold for people. If I go outside at those temperatures it will obviously be cold, but hearing that it's 32°F outside doesn't tell me anything. Telling me that it's almost cold enough to snow outside is much more helpful, and I will grab my hoodie, and maybe a coat.
Maybe a fun, goofy challenge for Words can Kill: replace the dictionary with twitch chat memes or an Unga Bunga dictionary with just words a low-int barbarian would use.
1:18:16 In relation to personal temp, it’s all arbitrary nonsense. There will always be someone who says freezing temp isn’t cold and wears shorts, and someone who says 100 isn’t hot and wears a jacket. That’s just how this goes, thus we should focus on just using a system with the most practical uses (metric, in this case is better) Not to mention, in all my life I have never struggled to explain the temperature to someone else “oh, it’s 14 degrees out”. We both know what that means, because we understand the system and aren’t troglodytes
The only place where imperial is a better system of measurement is in the written word. No one centimeters closer but you do inch, you dont 1/3 of a meter approach something you come at it foot by foot. I don't even mean when you are giving accurate measurements in a book--only in metaphorical terms
I love Elden Ring, but Fromsoft's "story" is generally the same every time; like it's a good story, but it does generally boil down to "world is fucked, god is dead/dying, aliens have shown up to make things worse, everyone has betrayed everyone else." It's really only the "you have to put the pieces together yourself" presentation that keeps it from getting stale, and even then I think that the "story telling method" while unique isn't necessarily a good way to actually convey your story; thus eliminating it from "best narrative". Like, I think ER has the best narrative out of any post armored core fromsoft game (been too long since I've experienced AC but I do remember it having actual plot progression) but at least to me narrative is more than just "cool story bro"
So do you think the concept of hot and cold are the same for some one that lives in desert/ near the equator, is equal to the concept of hot/cold from some lives in the north of russia or canada ( or any other super cold place)?
