Alonso is an old fox, he knows that better than anyone, and knows that Alpine would have dropped him if they wanted for their own interests, so he decided to do the same for himself. He's not "the bad", but it's a more sincere face than most of the people in the paddock. He has never been afraid to say what he really thinks or how he feels, and that's what makes him "bad" to the eyes of some people that seems to like more the profile of the typical driver politically correct and exemplary, behaving like a good boy in front of the press. Reality is that F1 is a pool of sharks, whatever face you want to put him, no matter if it's polite or good mannered. I really like Alonso because he doesn't care about that. He doesn't want to be "the good", and he even jokes about it. He it's just him, he knows more than anyone in and out of the car, and he just wants to have fun and compete, and that's all. Loyalty. Don't forget Alonso helped Ocon and Alpine gain their 1st victory on Hungary. How did Ocon behave? By defending harder against his own teammate on that same track like Ocon did more often throughout the season. I'm pretty sure that was the last straw for Alonso.

He is still one of the old era drivers. Back when drivers didn't play a (politcal) role for the public like Hamilton or Seb. Back when their image was based on their talent on track. Their only job was to drive and win.
If you know something about racing and F1 you know Alonso is the real deal. I was pushing for him since 2005 and saw him race and win at the Hockenheimring where he went on to win the F1 championship in 2005.

Alonso is the GOAT. Wasn't a fan of his driving style back when he was in Renault. But over the years (a lot) I've learned to appreciate his style and commitment. He's almost the same age as me, and gives me all the more reason to root for him!

There's nothing more off putting than a higher up expecting unconditional loyalty from their employees when we all know they'd cut them loose without a second thought
He's an honest man who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to try his darnedest to achieve it - some people can't handle characters like him and he's very much okay with that.

Alonso was one of the saltiest and most unsportsmanlike competitors on his first stint, and he spread countless propagandas on Vettel’s career that permanently spoiled his legacy.
The jokes, the naughty smiles, the salty comments on radio... it's part of what it makes him so great, so unique, and one of a kind. The day he say his final good bye to the paddock, it will be very painfull, and the trully end of an era, the only one left after Raikkonen that can say that shared the race tracks with the likes of Hakinnen and Schumacher, to the new generation of great (and potential) champs as Verstappen, Leclerc or Russel.
Loyalty. Don't forget Alonso helped Ocon and Alpine gain their 1st victory on Hungary. How did Ocon behave?
By defending harder against his own teammate on that same track like Ocon did more often throughout the season. I'm pretty sure that was the last straw for Alonso.
This is the most beautiful comment I have seen. Vamos Alonso
You nailed it.
Or as Toto would say... "This is SO SO RIGHT!"
As spanish Alonso's fan following him from 2004+... this comment represents why I really love Fernando.
(And because he is such a fun beast to watch on track)
Thanks for putting this feeling into work.
The most complete and adaptable driver on the grid for me. Sure he's ruthless but all champions are - Lewis and Max are equally predatorial. I just hope he gets a sniff of a good car this season so it makes it all the more exciting.
I really want to see Alonso win at least one more race
@@TheBearwithaBeard One more championship.
Looks like he's got a sniff
I have some GOOD NEWS for you :D
Great news
Alonso is not the bad guy, he is portrayed that way by the media. Like Max often is, he is honest, competitive and proper competition people just can’t deal with that
I think Max deservs the bad guy fame by himself... all the actions with Ham and last year and the actual with PER.
@@antondelatorre I see what you are getting and i agree but at least he is being himself and saying what he thinks which is what the drivers should do imo and not being totally controlled by the pr teams and saying pretty much the same thing any time they speak to the media. But @DaisyWalsh is right too. Many times the media portrays him as the "bad guy" for no reason
@@zeposte I totally agree with you about Max be himself (?). I give you that.
But things like Jeddah when disobey the team instructions to stop pushing and at the same time asking PER to do the same AND Perez asking if Ver is following the order because knows he is untrustworthy, only leads for me to team self-destruction .
And team do nothing about.
I don't like Ver , and I'm sorry that because Alo seems to have a very nice relationship with Ver.
Yo should think that is legit to try to battle between team members and I agree, the point is
... The point is that the teams usually protect P1-2. In the past Ric-Nor or Lec-Sai or Ham-... or Ver-Per.
But Ver doesn't respect that kind of things.
This leads to Per will not fight to protect P1 Ver in the future
Otmar saying "lack of loyalty" to two potential future alpine drivers means there is something wrong with the team, and DTS perfectly showed what a hypocrite otmar and team is.
Alain Prost Zhou Piastri Alonso all of them are "lack of loyalty"?
Idk if it's otmar per se. Maybe, maybe not. But after hearing the details around Piastri's contract woes, there is a massive administrative circus in Alpine.
coming from the guy who ditched Aston Marien mid season to go to Alpine 🤣
@@Drezzomir he was fired from Aston, meaning they thoguht he wont be sufficient enogh for a top team. And it shows in Alpine, he is happy with low results, has incredible bias towards Ocon even if they have better driver in the team, cant even promote his young driver properly and tries to fuck with his old one. All in all he is a typical midfield team manager that will never be able to make it a top one
Piastri and Alonso won't be able to leave it they secured the contract early, this means there was still alot of back and forth. There's no such thing as loyalty in such a business, no contract, no obligation to stay
"I am the bad guy, but i am so good at it" - Fernado Alonso probably
What a legend
I dont know why but I love fernando so much, I grew up watching him racing, but I'm a huge alpine fan so I should be upset, but damn I just love that guy, he is the danger, everybody knows hewould be fighting for championship in a car capable of doing it
The more I realize that this dude is just fun chaos the more I like it. Ten years ago I thought Kimi was the dark-horse anti-hero but really it was Fernando this whole time! And now he's basically living on the podium so for now at least this move is paying dividends.
Just when i thought Alonso couldnt be more legendary. WE NEED TO SEE HIM WIN AGAIN
my villain
This still aged so well in 2023
Imagine doing a risky move for the 999th time in your career and it finally paid out
Never have I been rooting for a "villain" so much as I am rooting for Fernando, La mision goes on
You gotta love Alonso. He has achieved so much, and has proven that he is still fast as hell. I think he knows that he is valuable to any team who can afford him. While he doesn't have a seat in a winning team, he is just out there trying to spoil others' dreams.
Fernando is easily one of the most entertaining guys on the grid :) He has that fire in him that drives him.
Absolutely love the Alonso arc, pure enigma
The Piastri fiasco was the final nail on Alpine's coffin
They intentionally wanted him to he the villian....and he enjoyed every minute of it
3:03 and Aston gave him the 2nd fastest team 🤣😝
Among the greatest... LEGEND.
This is why Alonso is my favorite F1 driver
I remember hating this man once upon a time due to his fierce rivalry with Schumi and Seb, my two favourite drivers during my time in Formula One…How foolish was I? The dude is a legend! 😂
Imagine if Alonso signed the deal for 1 year Alpine contract before Aston Martin vacancy became open. That is a depressing thought. Luckily, Alonso made the right decision and already has 4 podiums.
3:31 thats kind of adorable ngl
2:45 is even funnier at this point considering that Aston Martin is currently 3rd in championship only behind Mercedes by 3 points and Red Bull. Also, it seem like Mclaren, a team that Piastri choose to joined make a leap forward as well while Alpine getting no where.
“I’ve done 350 races. I know what I’m doing” 😂
He is not a bad person. He's a badass, big diff.
Szafnauer: "It was difficult for me to understand the lack of loyalty to Alpine"
My brother in Christ, the engine fucking dies every two races
This whole bit is even funnier now that Alonso's move to Aston paid off big time both in terms of car quality and team environment. Otmar, loyalty works both ways.
And he is fired lol karma!!!
Alonso a driver of the highest order , up there with Max/Lewis. hope we get to enjoy him for a few more seasons ..
Not to mention his ruthless competitive nature.
“I’m happy to go” what a savage 😂 love Nando
Nando's selfie with Verstappen makes me glad, it was amazing seeing him root for Max last two seasons, even muttering during voice comms.
Hope we can see fights for positions between the two this time around.
Fernando is so special. I love that
He is still one of the old era drivers.
Back when drivers didn't play a (politcal) role for the public like Hamilton or Seb.
Back when their image was based on their talent on track.
Their only job was to drive and win.
Excactly, fast and fair but agressive driver, who says what he thinks no matter what poeple would think about it.
My favourite driver of all time, propably not as skilled as Senna but his style overall is just great
@@call_me_jujo_9493 It's harder to judge Nando because he's been driving shit cars for so long.
and he always give space like in the old days when they literally were racing with their lives on the edge
@@D4N13Lfpv in the “old days” they didn’t give space
Love alonso chaotic personality
"We are the 4th fastest team"
Aged like milk lol
Now they are last
“Bye Bye” boy that sure hits different after the first race😭
I learn something new every time I watch Alonso race. Such a treat. Glad he came back to the grid.
going to aston might be alonos's best decision by far lol
Literally says 'I am on the Dark Side' like a fucking sith lord
i'll come back to this everytime alonso is on the podium, the fact that alpine say they are 4th fastest team is sus
the main character of F1
If you know something about racing and F1 you know Alonso is the real deal. I was pushing for him since 2005 and saw him race and win at the Hockenheimring where he went on to win the F1 championship in 2005.
¡ QUÉ GRANDE ÉRES MAGIC !
2:56 well, look at Aston now one season later, Alsono now sits in the second fastest car and is a menace on track again, definitely the better choice than signing with Alpine again!
"Alonso toying with Alpine for 4 minutes straight"
Love the original concept, please do more of these !
''Alpine 4th fastest team'' comment didnt age well XD
Alonso is the GOAT. Wasn't a fan of his driving style back when he was in Renault. But over the years (a lot) I've learned to appreciate his style and commitment. He's almost the same age as me, and gives me all the more reason to root for him!
He is the GOAT. Those championships he won were against Schumacher, and you don't win those easily. To think those championships were nearly 20 years ago and the guy is still motivated and pushing hard is amazing.
There's nothing more off putting than a higher up expecting unconditional loyalty from their employees when we all know they'd cut them loose without a second thought
What a success his leaving from Alpine to Aston, timing today proved it! 😎
Update: Young Rookie pulled a genius movie finally
Alonso is the coolest character and one of the most talented drivers of all times. I adore him!
Alonso, Dark lord of the Sith.
He's an honest man who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to try his darnedest to achieve it - some people can't handle characters like him and he's very much okay with that.
To be fair to Alonso he told them he wanted a multi year deal, he gave them time...and they waited and waited...until he just said fuck It, Aston are offering what I want.
He is a great guy.. hv been a fan of him since 2010…
dont understand why so many talk bad about him, he is a nice guy and he is just straightforward in his speech. He don't hide things on what he feels. He is a great competitor on the grid.
No doubt on his racecraft and capabilities in winning some races at his age. Go go Alonso!
Some people still stick to the past and depending on their reasons, they have the right to. Alonso was one of the saltiest and most unsportsmanlike competitors on his first stint, and he spread countless propagandas on Vettel’s career that permanently spoiled his legacy. New fans who loves Alonso will naturally find his interviews from the past and naturally will think Vettel was a false champion and believe whatever Alonso stated.
@@sandalphoncpu I've been following Alonso since his debut, wich propagandas are you talking about?
@@adrianramos9644 “…all of his achievements were thanks to Newey. He would be nothing without him.” He also mentioned his opinion about Vettel in an interview during 15’ or 16’, he said somewhere along the lines of…’When you got 4 titles and got beaten by a new teammate…I think that speaks a lot about him no?’ Alonso said that even though Vettel was an outside threat to a title challenge in 2015 in a car that’s arguably slower than his 2012 car relative to the fastest car.
Same with Max as well. Speaking what's actually true is basically bad guy behaviour in F1. Typical British mentality if I'm very honest
@@sandalphoncpu not only does he feels that way, i feel the same. Vettel wasn't any great, just look at his races without a good car or even Ferrari given him a good car during 2018, he can't perform well. Vettel can win his DC is definitely with only the dominant machine. Im not a new fan, i've been with F1 since 2000. Cheers.
The self awareness is amazing. Makes him far more fun.
glad to know that alpine is watching alonso taking podium with aston martin now
So in DTS 6, Alonso will be a hero for at least 1 hour straight.
That's why we love him
Funniest thing is, people thought money was why he left but he’s actually making 15 million less at Aston Martin, yet what everyone thought wouldn’t happen (AMR being faster than alpine) did happen. So happy for Fernando, hope Aston keep improving with their extra wind tunnel time, maybe mid way through the year the aston can match the RB19.
@Robert Stallard he didn’t, he did take a big paycut because he was making about 20 or 25 million per season at Alpine but now makes 5 supposedly. The biggest decider was that he’s on a 3 year contract at Aston while alpine only offered a 1 year extension 👏
here after his brazil podium!
"The villainy you teach me, I will execute and it will go hard - but I will better the instruction." - Shylock in Merchant of Venice
Alonso is the only driver I know from my childhood... and the only F1 driver I know at all 😀
There's a reason alonso is the gigachad of the paddock.
Probably the best move of his career!!!😊👍🏻
where other drivers race, he plays. senna and alonso: best f1 characters ever
