- Once again I am delving into The Honest Truth About series where I give you the honest truth about champions in League of Legends. Today's champion is the Skarner Rework! After doing Skarner before this rework a while ago, we need to update that video to show off the new Skarner, the better Skarner, the Skarner that turns you into Ryan Gosling! By the way, what are your fav builds on him? I really like going Grasp with HS every game, as making the big chonky champions, even bigger is one of my fav things to do.

The series is definitely inspired by Can We Talk About This and Actual Champion Spotlight, and I've always been upfront about it
I'm not really complaining about the gameplay, but we really can't ignore them getting rid of his potentially controversial lore when it's most relevant to current events

@TheTarians there are a few genocides going on during current day, some of them for the sake of profit and expansion. So to remove the lore when Isreal and Palestine seems negligent at best, and malicious at worst

He's wayyy too strong. Laning vs him is terrible to play against. Never runs out of mana, low cd, his rock throw does a lot of damage and he spams it until you get to half health then he just slams you into a wall and your dead. Also rock throw has a huge AOE so it's almost impossible to dodge
Top Lane does seem to be the pain point

Could you do a video like this for naafiri you'd be so surprised how many league youtubers sound so boring and the same like "his ult is gorgeous" but then you come along and change it to "btw when you use E your Q stays active"
These are the tips i need in a digestible and interesting video not a 30-hour long video of edits, boring gameplay, or thesis statements about how large kaisa is and how that upsets people
What you do is explain the lore but not overdo it, you give helpful tips but not overused tips, and you just make it fun
(So many league youtubers complain about the skill level of players but 90% of the content they put out is so boring or just a podcast)
And i mean people made thesis statements of naafiri but oops shes no longer meta or new so no content thats interesting about her

It feels like that sometimes, but somehow you somehow do damage, it's great
The only thing they should have do is to add the E mechanic to the old W and making the old passive something more based on the player ability then a team one
But if you only do that you're still met with the same problems from his old ult, and you're met with the same piss poor damage
@@TheTarians even Morde ult can be negated with an item, and it's not a problem at all: you just have to hit a different champion + the enemy MUST spend 1000+ gold to not die from your ult.
The damage was not piss like you said in the video, but even if it was, you could easily resolve the problem with a new passive (more based on the player skills like I said) or some straight up buffs

Tbh, old Skarner kits is perfectly fine, he do his job perfectly even against new champion, just change that f***ing spire to something else useful, no need anything fancy.
I mean, you're talking about a champion who had piss poor damage without his spire, was there to get to a priority target to ult them but had 0 ways to get to that priority target without flash (which champions shouldn't be designed around taking a specific summoner), and became very useless if the enemy's priority target builds a single item. So I would say he needed a lot more than just the spire change
I like everything about it thematically. But the rework is straight up toxic. It's not so bad in the jungle, but top Lane it literally is a zero counter play Lane you can't trade into him with your abilities because he's just going to shield, he can always run away, And if you go even with him or even get ahead of him a bit he just ends up building resistances to whatever you're doing and deals enough damage to poke you out of Lane on full tank. The only way to play against him is to play something that isn't squishy and can build leandries to constantly hit him with percent health damage. But that's a very small pool of champions.

There are only 2 opinions regarding Skarner's rework:
1. The opinion that says that Skarner's rework is very good without being perfect, and is a great improvement for the character, bringing a different but familiar essence.
2. The wrong opinion.

I say this as someone who play a champion that can deal % max health damage... that type of damage shouldn't be a thing in my opinion, it makes it so that if you are ahead you destroy your enemy so fast and if you're behind you'll still deal pretty decent damage due to it being percent based
I love how broken rhaast or skarner can feel when ahead, but I can admit that it probably doesn't benefit the game, just like vayne's passive or smolder's % health true damage and execution once he gets his stacks, I know these champions feel amazing once you fulfill their power spike requirements, but they can also feel like bulshit really easily
If they removed hp% damagae, tanks would be quite litteraly unstoppable. I do agree that they can be quite BS (mainly because of both their wide distribution AND the values of these damage) but %hp damage is needed for the game to stay healthy.
@@user-ze4fm5zu8t I mean, you still have items like blade of the ruined king, it's just that when a tank like skarner can do more damage than an assassin due to his Q doing % health damage it's a bit ridiculous, I get that there's a place for it in the game, but it can really easily go from something that is needed to help balance certain classes to something that can feel pretty broken
I mean there will always be problems with anything that Riot introduces to the game, but I think something to remember is that without % max health damage we would run into a big problem imo:
Tanks have 0 counter picks through direct champion picks. You now either have to make items that are already strong against tanks even better, which would be terrible for the game health because BORK is already such a pain point for balance, or you would need to make tank items be worse in general which could revert us back to the problem of pre-durability patch where you're getting 2 shot at level 1.
yeah such a good idea to change a versatile juggernaut to only build fulltank... and let's talk about how "amazing" his escape and speed is. or how his ult ... sorry. just salty.
I mean, the versatility came at the cost of "I may be better at one thing, but I'm terrible at everything else." There was seldom one good Skarner build pre rework from what I remember
Usually he only built Fulltank in pro play for example, but you still had the option to go Trinity + Muramana and absolutely shread everyone without trolling. The health scalings and the lack of reliable/constant mobility now make building anything that isn't tank or one or two AP items veeery suboptimal. you even end up dealing more dmg just building Heartsteel at the end. And that isn't going to be fixed by giving him more Q scaling.

I agree AS A REWORK is awful as a new champ is good
Overall I really like him haven't finished the vid yet. I just dislike how slow he is, his bad shield, and his meh ult. His alt is so meh that I legit thinking about going ghost when I play him top. I only play him top when there is another tank or squishy target.
I feel like he feels clunky for a little bit, but after a while I think you get used to the clunkiness of the champ and he feels so much better
Also his auto feels like shit.
