One of my favourite fighting games on SNES. The others are Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Street Fighter 2, Mortal Kombat 2 and Killer Instinct. Fatal Fury Special on SNES is the best 16bit SNK fighting game imo, a great and complete 32megs port of the 150megs Neo Geo original!
0:57 Battle 1 - Terry Bogard VS Big Bear 2:31 Battle 2 - Terry Bogard VS Joe Higashi 3:45 Battle 3 - Terry Bogard VS Tung Fu Rue 5:12 Battle 4 - Terry Bogard VS Jubei Yamada 6:40 Battle 5 - Terry Bogard VS Kim Kaphwan 7:57 Battle 6 - Terry Bogard VS Cheng Sinzan 9:13 Battle 7 - Terry Bogard VS Andy Bogard
It's funny looking back. I remember I had a choice of this or Chrono Trigger and because of my friend who was with me I got this. Mostly due to the fact we were rather hyped after seeing Fatal Fury 2 the movie. Don't regret it as I got Chrono about a week or two later. Still have them both today. Although I still remember Ryo was rather broken in this.
Survival Mode, which I think was a first at this time, at least for me it was. The SNES version of Samurai Shodown 1 had it too, and they still called it Countdown.
"Power Wave" sounds like "I wanna leave." Anyway, Fatal Fury Special was my 1st SNK game. I grew up primarily with Street Fighter, but I wondered how different fighting games were like.
The American flags in the Geese stages always bewildered me. I mean, I know South Town is in the United States, I got that. But the way the flags are hanging... It's in the style of a Japanese flag, the kinds of which you might have seen on a war banner or in a fortress. It's such a bizarre touch and I never understood it.
actually nuts this is running on an SNES, the NEO GEO was basically an arcade at home and they got this running on the same hardware that plays Super Mario World
me too, oh Keeper Of The Sword... I WAS going to buy KOF13 soon as I heard she's in it, but as soon as I found that Yamazaki Ryuji wasn't, I backed down; gimme both or don't gimme anything! eyecandy is good but madness is eternal!
remember= Mr. Howard's youth was spent, much like Andy B. today, over in Japan, so it wasn't just mastery of aikido and jujiutsu he picked up from over there. as for the manner he's decorated his stage, it may well be for the psychological factor; to denote to his opponents (and the players in real-life) he's the Daimio-Sama, "The Boss", the overlord of his self-made empire of pain & death...but maybe I'm reading too much into it, LOL!
Or it could just be SNK grotesquely understanding how the American flag is supposed to be presented. But I admit, I like your take on it a lot, ahahaha!
Can't do like what exactly? This never came to the Genesis exactly, just Sega CD. For the standard FF2 the Genesis version has the definite edge. Its got the missing intermissions, better music, and much better control. The SNES version was still good though. As for FFS, this was a better game then the SNES FF2, but the music was terrible. It sounds really muffled and tin like. Some like it though and iI can't understand why. Also though, SNES always wins? Not exactly. Ports of Super Baseball 2020, Captain America, the original Madden, Pit Fighter WWF Wrestlemania the Arcade game, the original Mortal Kombat, the original Madden, and Thunder Spirtis were all superior on the Genesis. Even Shaq Fu despite it reputation was better featuring more characters.
Sensei SCHLAUCHI does it again! surprisingly, IMO, the MD/Genesis version is far better than both this & regular versions o FF2 on the SNES! maybe Takara was more familiar with the MD/Genesis specs or something because, despite it's tech limitations, it delivered a better product than in the SNES overall. (again, in MY OWN opinion!!!)
Your opinion is flawed, FFS is considered a far better game than both the SNES and Genesis versions of Fatal Fury 2. Not sure where you got this Genesis version of vanilla FF 2 is better than FFS on SNES, but that sounds like overall bias. FF 2 on Genesis is good (minus that juggle and speed code, don't need them, prefer the game as it is), but it can't touch FFS on the SNES. Even in arcades, where FFS was a big step up from vanilla FF 2, same situation.
Terry is the master of being in 2 places at once. At 10:07, he's fighting Andy on the boat, and in the background, he's about to buy a hotdog.
Is a fan. Cosplay. SNK voice said once in a interview
i know it's quite randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch new series online?

The SNES was awesome, i still own one!
I also have a 4 slot NeoGeo arcade machine as well as an AES home console....The SNES does a great job.

this special edition is better than just the fatal fury 2 for the snes they really improved on the music and sound effects!!
Excactly ..try out the Sega CD rom its a blast
Here is one of Terry's proofs to be in Smash
This comment aged so well.
SNK had, and still has, a terrible presence in American ad space. They could have gone to war with SF and had some serious sales.
+Squanchy Snk Cant be really that bad.
What?
Only thing that really bothered me about this port was the metallic sounding music. The SNES was capable of way better music.
2:31 very great I love the Joe's song!
Survival Mode, which I think was a first at this time, at least for me it was. The SNES version of Samurai Shodown 1 had it too, and they still called it Countdown.
Terry Bogard is gonna be in Smash Bros Ultimate
Well guess what

Better than fatal fury 2 on the same system
Is it better by a mile ? I'm torn between buying this or fatal fury 2 because 2 is cheaper
They did a far better job on this one.
Jogo sensacional bons tempos.
13:24... such epicness
pela sua capacidade de 16bits o SNES deu um showwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I don't believe SNES can handle the Dolby Surround. Noise Reduction - AWESOMENESS.
How can you pull off the "Rising Tackle" in this game ? For some reason it's almost impossible to pull off charge attacks in that game.
It wasn't that bad. The desperation moves were a different story though
@@joe718gt4 For some reasons i can pull off Kim's Desperation move but not his charge moves...
FFS is on snes!?! So how many snes FF games are there then? Is this FFS snes version worth getting?
FF1, FF2, FFS are the three on the system. And yes, it is worth getting as the fun is there.
Bloodreign1 nice thanks!
No problem!
what's the different betwen FF2 and FFS? Both look the same identical stuff to me, excepting FFS seems faster
i get it, thanx

Geese Howard could be considered a weeaboo, he was an American guy who was deeply influenced by Japanese culture.
A Mai Shiranui vendeu caro a derrota, Double KO duas vezes. O tema musical da Mai é o mais bonito, nesse Fatal Fury Special do Snes!
Near Arcade/Neo Geo port.
actually nuts this is running on an SNES, the NEO GEO was basically an arcade at home and they got this running on the same hardware that plays Super Mario World

The game music is very special in SNES version .. very heavy bass ..
remember= Mr.
@27:05 that's cool. the whole staff roll was cool, but that i wish it was that easy
This version is a LOT easier than the original Neo Geo game. I still like the gameplay and the music though.
I wish this was on Genesis. FF 2 on Genesis was soooo goooood. T_T
Also,WTF?!! Mai was tough enough to take you down till the Final ROUND?!! 0_0
