I've been through 5 hurricanes, including a direct hit from Ian, so I know a little bit about what these storms can do. That being said, what NC has gone through is unimaginable even to me- my heart truly goes out to these poor people! Great footage, as always- thanks for doing what you do!!
No we should not stop ! Where is FEMA ??? Does sleepy joe even KNOW we had a storm down here ?? This total BS , we send $$ to every country in the world and look what is going on right in our backyard.
Very well said! Seeing massive destruction like this should make every one of us care more for our fellow Americans. Not their political views, beliefs, or anything. My prayers for all, and when I am in a position of doing so, my actual financial help, physical help, counseling, etc.
We were just there this past spring. So many tourists, good food, great people. For the amount of tourists, it's still quaint, quiet, and a great chill out space. The Flowering Bridge was a must see for me, and its gone. I did not see it. Lord, have mercy.
Hard to believe I was just there in Chimney Rock and Lake Lure with an old friend, his wife and my wife the weekend before the storm. Just can't fathom that this lovely, quaint little town is now almost gone. So sad.
Sad to see. Chimney Rock was a quaint little town on the Rocky Broad River. Time to put up some prayers for the entire Lake Lure and Chimney Rock community.
Sorry, but what we need is for people to believe the scientists who have been warning us about the potential effects of climate change for many years now. Prayers won't prevent these disasters, nor will they make the necessary repairs, which will run well into the tens (if not hundreds) of billions of dollars.

My question was it still a Hurricane or was it a tropical storm? NC did not receive any kind of warning that it was going to be like this! The path of the Hurricane was well off from Carolina. I don’t understand what really happened here. I’m from Fayetteville NC and out of all 46 years of my life, I have NEVER seen anything like this. It’s very heartbreaking. Prayers, love and hugs sent out to all that have been affected……
Warm ocean water supplies the energy for a hurricane to suck up a lot of the same water. When it gets onto land, all that water has to drop out of the clouds.
No, it was no longer a hurricane when it got there. What was left of Helene was pulled into the stalled upper level low that had been already raining on them for at least 2 days. These two storms merged into a monster rainmaker with very gusty winds.
Your Governor just stated that Waters was from 9" to 29" of flooding, i think that man was on something when he stated that, right before he said that i watched a man show his property and his wives SUVwas under water, there's so many videos where the water subdued many homes, my God he definitely understated what the true devastation is there in NC
This usually where you escape to because its higher ground. I live at sea level near the coast in VA and I've seen devastation but this is awful. Just awful. I feel so bad for this community and others who have been touched by this hurricane.😢

Jeremiah 23:19 Behold the storm of the Lord has gone out with fury a whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked. Is this The Most High judgment?

Well, kinda two. Helene and a big ol frontal system that sucked it in, then they kinda combined into this mega system. They were talking about the Fujiwhara effect with them last week. Look it up. Crazy stuff!
I was just there last year with my family visiting Chimney Rock such an amazing place and a beautiful little town. My heart was broken when I seen everything gone in this area. I couldn't believe my eyes when I see the destruction that this hurricane had caused to this area and others. Hopefully this area gets the help it needs and rebounds from this tragic event. This is my family and I's favorite place to visit in NC. Heart goes out to everyone who lost everything and the people who have passed away from this storm.
I visited here during this past labor day and enjoyed how beautiful this palce was and was making plans to do a cabin rental for next spring, its just crazy to see how devestated it became.
I used to drive that road all the time stopped at all the stores and campsites never thought it could flood like this best I can remember all those small towns were at a high elevation.
For the same reason that people live on the east coast. They like the ambiance of the region. Most of the time people in an area like this can weather a bad storm and even some flooding. But this flooding from Helene was on another level because it had already gotten a heavy rainfall before Helene so the ground was already saturated.
Historically, they always have settled on waterways out of necessity. Farmers & ranchers still use them as a source of water but not the everyday person. Nonetheless, waterways still provide food from fishing. Sport, relaxation, boating, swimming, and more. Does that help you understand a tad?
I pray that they can find everyone out there that needs to be rescued! A group of first responders went from Pamlico County and reached the Chimney Rock area first yesterday. They saved several souls including two dogs and two cats. They were going back there today. We are so proud of them.
The earth is continually recycling itself and no matter what we do, it never stops. I pray for all caught in this storm. It will happen again, thats just the way it is

Funny, but the current administration released 1 billion in emergency funds for Florida before the hurricane even hit. Compare that to the preceding administration which blocked funds to a state hit by disaster solely based on the fact that the president at the time didn't like the governor.
We were in that beautiful village one month ago, visiting from Australia. OMG. So sad. We went into those businesses, bought things, had lunch. OMG…..
