Love that we both went on that Rhythm of War journey together this week!! It sounds like we had a very similar experience, though I have to say that the pacing was much better for me on re-read because I knew that the pay-off would be worth it. The Dog and the Dragon chapter is absolutely one of my favourite things Sanderson has ever written, just hits every time!! Highly recommend going back and watching the livestream that The Sandbox uploaded a while back featuring 2ToRamble and Bookborn. SO many mind-blowing theories!! Also, YAY for Nettle & Bone winning the spin. I had actually been meaning to re-read that because Kingfisher is one of my faves, so sounds like the perfect time to do so! And consider me IN on the bookclub with the Mrs. in January, I am so intrigued by that book! Currently in the middle of reading Legend by David Gemmell. Also, I just finished watching Arcane earlier today and I can confidently say that it is one of the most special shows I've had the pleasure of watching in my life so far. It has some of the best character arcs I've ever seen across any medium. Without a doubt one of my new all-time favorite shows! I'm so happy that you got so much out of Rhythm of War! I told you chapter 80 was a special one! To say I'm hyped for Wind and Truth would be a massive understatement, less than 2 weeks away!
So glad you enjoyed Rhythm of War. 'Moments' was fantastic, that was the chapter that got me a bit misty eyed. This week I read Assassins Apprentice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Now I'm already a few hundred pages into Of War and Ruin
Just finished Empire of Silence last week! I appreciate Jakob's thoughts on the way the chapters are framed. I'm also thrilled that you liked Rhythm of War and are now done The Cosmere Catchup! Im working on The Lost Metal before the 6th because it's the only Cosmere book I haven't read yet 🌸
I'm gonna finish my reread of RoW in the next couple days, still my least favorite but still a full five star read. Love the ending so I'm excited to reexperience it
The first book that I remember capturing my imagination was Harriet the Spy. It changed my life. I read it over and over in my fourth and fifth grade year. Something about a girl walking around with a notebook who didn’t exactly fit in really felt relatable to the geeky nerdy girl who walked around with a book.
From my early highschool years a book called Friedrich by Hans Peter Richter changed my opinions and thought process. I also re-read Stoker's Dracula and Twain's A Connecticut Yankee At King Arthur's Court every year or two. I've been re-reading them since I was 25 years old, and I'm now just a year younger than Mr. John Minton.
Glad to see you enjoyed RoW! I haven't made much progress on RoW or Boys Life this past week. Things have been busy with Thanksgiving and Christmas preparation, the heat in my car when out right as it's getting cold, and I've gotten sick. So Reading has sadly taken a backseat, so thank you for uploading and letting me live vicariously through you this week. Still hopeful I finish up RoW before my copy of Wind and Truth comes in.

Great weekly reader! I finished Diamond Dog, Turqoise Days by Alastair Reynolds. 2 Novellas in the Revelation Space series really enjoyed both the Novellas. Diamond Dogs is like Saw but Jigsaw is a massive robotic tower in space pretty great! anyway keep it up The way John spit those bars about Rhythm of War was inspiring! 😄
I’m working my way through Wall of Storms by Ken Liu right now. Have Thanksgiving Break this week and hoping to get some good reading and writing done! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
This was an awesome Weekly Reader! And I’m not just saying that because I was mentioned LOL. I can’t express my appreciation enough to the Missus for selecting me! When I finished Rhythm of War I knew it was my least favorite but still really enjoyed it. I did also think that it was a super important book for the cosmere as a whole. Since it started to show how some of the Roshar magic works.
So, I didn’t actually complete any books last week. In fact I think Jacob read more than I did. Haha I’m hoping to get through a significant chunk, or finish The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan, and possibly start The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell.
So my plan was to read Wind and truth in early 2025 when my library has gotten it. (I got a weird ocd thing with books that I read from the library I can't buy unless I by all of the series all at once and series I by I can't read from the library...I know weird, can't explain it better xD) However ever since I read sunlit I've been so exicted for this next Stormligth that I will buy it as a christmas present for my self. Which means I started my reread waaaay to late 😅 (I'm halfway through TWoK, wish me luck).
I am really looking forward to the father/son story chat. Great idea, guys! Also looking forward to seeing how John likes Nettle and Bone. I really enjoyed that one, though I've been hit and miss with T Kingfisher. I finsihed Dungeon Crawler Carl number 3 this week. Slowly working my way through Words of Radiance as well. I'm going to try not ti start DCC 4 until I finish that, but I'm not sure I'll be able to resist.
Love both picks! This is a perfect excuse to read Nettle & Bone again (loved it the first time) and to finally get Chain-Gang off my tbr. And Mr. Pooh, you are absolutely perfect just the way you are. Jakob is just jealous of your cute curves.
I can't believe Thanksgiving is upon us, I can't even believe that December is rolling up on us. This year's going by too fast, dang it. But in all honesty, I want it to be over. Too much awful crap has happened this year, I can't take it no more. Great video guys. I'm taking a short break from reading after completing Moon Witch, Spider King for the rest of the month, but once December comes I'll be back on the saddle. I'm hoping to finish Gene Wolfe's The Wizard Knight and also get to books like Eileen and Deathless, which seem Christmas/winter related. Can't wait! Also the Christmas song was awesome! 'Seven Deadpan Expressions' by Jakob Milton made me cackle. Keep up the good work uncle.

Nice Weekly Read guys! I would love to go to DragonSteel to pitch an idea to Brandon Sanderson. They need to make a documentary on the histoy of fantasy novels from Terry Brooks in 77 all the way to Robert Jordan in 1991
Don't trust anyone who doesn't love Rex. Dogs of War is amazing. This week I finished Warhost of Vastmark, the 3rd book and conclusion to the 2nd arc of Janny Wurts' Wars of Light & Shadow. This series really is shaping up to becoming one of my favourites. I planned on taking a break between arcs (which I still plan on doing) but I'll be getting to Arc 3 sooner than later. As for what I'm currently reading: Fitz & the Fool 2: Fool's Quest
@Talking_Story only wrongs I can think of are reading them both at the same time or not reading them at all 🤣 Seeing how far Fitz has come and seeing a new path laid out in front of him has got me on the edge of my seat. Some (very nitpicky) issues I had with Fool's Assassin (A Top 3 book in the whole series might I add) have been addressed. Well, 1 of them definitely has, and one I think has been but I'm also fine if it wasn't in reference that specific sequence and just a blip in the characterisation.
Looking forward to reading Nettle & Bone! Always good to read more Kingfisher. And I'll be sure to pick up Chain-Gang All-Stars for January. This week I read Dogs of War and loved it. I started the sequel to Sleeping Giants, and DNF'd at 2/3 through because it got so bleak that I couldn't bring myself to care how the author justified a third book. I am halfway through The Bone Clocks and really enjoying seeing how Mitchell does supernatural/urban fantasy/whatever it is, and also the further connections back to other books.

@@katherinep1010 I think if I were in a different place mentally I could really enjoy Waking Gods, and I did like a lot of it up to a point; but there are only so many times an author can tell me "this is an impossible situation" before I just lose interest.
I really enjoyed Jacob's technical analysis of Sun Eater's chapters. It's such a shame though that his constant disrespect for Mr Poo is probably going to force the Poguin to make an exemple out of him.
@Intro and Jacob, Your father is calling you Frosty because he knows he can't buy you a tanning bed. If he did, it would be just like every daughter and son buying their parents false teeth or hearing aids when they are well off enough to already have them. He's probably also glad he has a son that wouldn't use a tanning bed...maybe? Mr. Pooh has that look on his face like he's been staring at the tanning bed light for too long... Lol, Satire!
Oh man loved hearing that Rhythm of War gush and about how much we’re caring at this point about WHO is in the action 💪 That last part of RoW hits so hard - can’t wait to see how things wrap up in Wind and Truth. So hyped for the next weekly reader to see how Dogs of War went for you!
Okay, things are getting fishy. Last month Mr. Pooh "randomly" chose... I mean selected "Dogs of War". And now we're expected to believe a book with bone in the title isn't suspect? You have a magician dog on your hands, sir. Or, just maybe, your other son is finally showing some brotherly love and fixing the system for him. I don't think I've ever had an issue with the pacing of a Sanderson novel, simply because I know there is going to be a payoff. We're taking a beat for a designed purpose and I think it's done well. I do like the new talk about story between the two of you. I love how your whole family (minus Mr. Pooh of course) can talk about things at that level.

Finished reading The Thomas Berryman Number by James Patterson. It was just alright for me. Great videos guys keep up the good work.

Don't trust anyone who doesn't love Rex. Dogs of War is amazing.
This week I finished Warhost of Vastmark, the 3rd book and conclusion to the 2nd arc of Janny Wurts' Wars of Light & Shadow. This series really is shaping up to becoming one of my favourites. I planned on taking a break between arcs (which I still plan on doing) but I'll be getting to Arc 3 sooner than later.
As for what I'm currently reading:
Fitz & the Fool 2: Fool's Quest
Janny and Hobb. How can you go wrong?!
@Talking_Story only wrongs I can think of are reading them both at the same time or not reading them at all 🤣 Seeing how far Fitz has come and seeing a new path laid out in front of him has got me on the edge of my seat. Some (very nitpicky) issues I had with Fool's Assassin (A Top 3 book in the whole series might I add) have been addressed. Well, 1 of them definitely has, and one I think has been but I'm also fine if it wasn't in reference that specific sequence and just a blip in the characterisation.

This week I read Dogs of War and loved it. I started the sequel to Sleeping Giants, and DNF'd at 2/3 through because it got so bleak that I couldn't bring myself to care how the author justified a third book. I am halfway through The Bone Clocks and really enjoying seeing how Mitchell does supernatural/urban fantasy/whatever it is, and also the further connections back to other books.

I loved Sleeping Giants and Waking Gods, the 3rd one was a big step down though, imo.
@@katherinep1010 I think if I were in a different place mentally I could really enjoy Waking Gods, and I did like a lot of it up to a point; but there are only so many times an author can tell me "this is an impossible situation" before I just lose interest.

I'm mixed on Rhythm of War but one of the highlights for me was The Dog and the Dragon
Chapter 80 was a high point no doubt!

I really enjoyed Jacob's technical analysis of Sun Eater's chapters. It's such a shame though that his constant disrespect for Mr Poo is probably going to force the Poguin to make an exemple out of him.

If he did, it would be just like every daughter and son buying their parents false teeth or hearing aids when they are well off enough to already have them. Okay, things are getting fishy. Last month Mr. Pooh "randomly" chose... I mean selected "Dogs of War". And now we're expected to believe a book with bone in the title isn't suspect? You have a magician dog on your hands, sir. Or, just maybe, your other son is finally showing some brotherly love and fixing the system for him.
I don't think I've ever had an issue with the pacing of a Sanderson novel, simply because I know there is going to be a payoff. We're taking a beat for a designed purpose and I think it's done well.
I do like the new talk about story between the two of you. I love how your whole family (minus Mr. Pooh of course) can talk about things at that level.
