So many cars with lots of black/carbon is quite disappointing, the livery itself looks quite good but could really use some more colored surfaces.
I agree, and IMO Sauber actually managed to pull it off rather well. Partially because that green color really pops, but also because there's enough of it in all the right places.
You can blame the fia since they keep rasing the minimum weights along with making the minimum size of cars bigger, we need smaller cars again so they don't have to save that few grams of weight in paint
Alpine fighting for 6th in championship again: Battle of Mid
I think Alpine Fight for 8th Championship standing, based on William's car improvement launch and RB Visa Performance last season
I like getting design ideas from tunedbyai and then bringing them to life.
Appreciate the in depth journalism about Alpine's staff structure. Details that matter but often aren't discussed
We need some kind of rule that they actually need to paint the car to stop them all looking the same. They have rules that both cars need the same livery and the minimum size of the numbers so I don’t see why they couldn’t
Yeah, they could perfectly have an extra kg added to the minimum weight and an extra rule that the extra kg is for paint alone. So teams don't use it for some other component.
Its a good idea, but how would the FIA weigh the paint?@@The_Curious_Cat
Have a minimum coverage rule. Only allowed so much of the main chassis to be unpainted.
@@DunkdaHunk When ferrari releases their only 10 percent red car people are going to frigging riot. "The car is red" is like 105% of the appeal of that team for normies.
@@daryanguy In the beginning of the season weight the car without being painted and painted. Have that difference (with a little extra) be the differential when weighting the car throughout the season.
Or simplify it by raising the minimum weight by what is necessary and (like said in a previous comment) have a minimum coverage required.
I feel like Alpine would be a lot more interesting if they just changed the name back to Renault and went back to the yellow and black color scheme. And that says a lot about this team.
Yup agree 100%. Changing it to Alpine was v odd in my opinion. A lack of faith in the team that they didn’t want a failure attached to the Renault name.
I think though unfortunately the Renault brand is more focusing on the road cars and not sports division and have left the alpine department to the sports cars. I mean there will be no Clio RS or Megane RS. I think I heard it'll be like Clio Alpine or Megane Alpine or something idk. Haven't really looked into it too much but the Renault Sport is kinda like dead unfortunately. Cuz the Clio RS and Megane RS were amazing hot hatches.
Yes Renault sport is dead. The wanted at renault a clear brand to separate sports cars from road cars. So they chosed their old and rusty Alpine brand that was pretty much dead for 20 years (wec aside). It's a move that Honda did with Acura and many other constructors have done also. It's not a shocking thing to do and at the end of the day probably better for the management overall. But I'll definitively miss the Clio RS or Megane RS @@AnonTriple
The best part of the event was the unveiling of the endurance hyper car.

Formula 1 should pass a rule on %of the car that is black. This grid is too black. I'm saying that and I'm African.
Im glad you added the african part, or ure comment would be insane but now i can understand by the added context. Im a Trex just so you know. Now my comment has value too
They've added rules for things far more obscure and could be implemented without great cost, important under the cap, so should be done ASAP!
What does you being African have to do with this with all due respect
It would be cool to see some more content related to the WEC on this channel
The A524 looks far more impressive and has features like a possible S Duct the same used on the Ferrari SF-23 & a floor that looks to be derived from the RB19, wether it lives up to this potential is another question, but this car has far more potential than the A523 ever did
for the first time I've felt assurance from Alpine, maybe it will not suddenly star to fight with aston martin but any progress there could be a win
@@azelpazelf795 If they can do what Mclaren did, or start better than Mclaren did but evolve the same way throughout the season it'll definitely be a success
This year and the next are absolutely *pivotal* for Alpine's F1 future; because 2026 is when engine suppliers will diversify again to a level not seen since 2008 with both Sauber and Aston Martin set to benefit with new works engine deals so if Alpine is not clearly ahead, or at the very least consistently in-step with Aston Martin then they could be in serious trouble; especially since at the start of the current engine regs cycle Renault had the weakest performance of the three engines, and Honda's shambolic early attempts only saved face until Honda got their act together with Red Bull.
Lower wishbone is also better aligned with the flow from the sidepod. Suspension arms are terrible aerodynamically, so anything you can do to get them to work with the flow will have some impact. Like improving the gas mileage on a gas guzzler, a little can go a decent way.
Thank you for a video that talks about the performance aspects of the new elements of the car instead of moaning about the livery. The race is won by performance, not the prettiest car on the grid.
If you want to see Alpine without the BWT disease, check out their prototype endurance car! It's actually respectable!
im surprised you guys missed the vertical inlet a la the 2023 ferrari, blended in with the sidepod inlet.
This weight saving by leaving paint out is utter crap. Remember times when drivers and teams had diamonds in helmets and/or cars in Monaco just because of it?
To be fair if any team should weight save it’s these guys due to their power shortage
Bare carbon is not only weight savibg but also cost saving (perhaps under budget limits even more important than weight).
The reason the weight of the paint is a significant factor is because the cars are huge.
The fact that RedBull last year had no exposed carbon but beat the competition easily tells us that this measure of weight saving is absolutely pointless if your aerodynamics or power unit is bad.
The lower half of their sidepods were exposed carbon. It just blended in with the dark blue well
Red Bull had some plain carbon on the lower part of the car, but indeed plenty of paint. Shame that Alpine don't see French Racing Blue colours as important branding, but it is up to them and their marketing goals really. Aston Martin sees the importance of Aston Racing Green (or British Racing Green or Almond Green) livery (regardless of weight), racesuits and uniforms where Alpine does not see the importance of presenting the team in French Racing Blue.
How is that 100 race plan going for them?
They need to set a limit for how much of the car's chassis can be carbon fibre or just mandate that all cars be painted
Great analysis again gents! Some reason for hope this season at Team Enstone (fingers crossed)
it's very deceptive, I agree. Haven't been able to find out where that paint is hiding
I think the FIA need to bring a new rule in for 2026 which states teams must fully paint the main bodywork of the car excluding the Floor, Front Wing, Halo, Rear Wing, Wheel Covers and Wheel Fairings.
Front wing is important its what we see most on TV. So it should also be painted.
@@0Synergy No, we see the main body and halo the most. You don't really see the front wing much considering it's practically a horizontal surface.
@@generaldreagonlps6889 Not really you see them alot alot, look at street tracks where most of the cameras are person height. We aren't always seeing high up shots or tv pod, we get tons of front views from cameras on corners.
I'm not buying the argument that a 15 bhp power deficit equates to half a second a lap. Not when the whole field is putting out about 1000 bhp per engine. Another 15 bhp is not worth half a second.
8:13 To consider that a (small) win is honestly sad, because being prepared for every race on the calendar is the bear minimum if you want to take down Merc and Red Bull. Those teams have raised the bar
Everyone hating the lack of paint I see. F1 needs to do something and quick.
McLaren drastically improved mid season, initially Aston started better than Mercedes using their engine, rear suspension and wind tunnel so anything is possible. One flaw is the Alpine engine lacks power. As I understand it, there was an effort by the team to allow the engine to be improved under special circumstances but it was denied.
If the suspension improvements work, that will make a big difference. Everyone is headed towards the "anti dive" set up to get their floor to work more efficiently and be easier on tires.
There's a real possibility that the dark horse to ruin everyone's season is Racing Bulls. They could appear from nowhere. If they basically roll out last year's RB19, using real RB19 parts, that car would be instantly potent. The real weakness would the driver pairing, but Yuki and Danny had a few good races towards the end of last year.
One thing's for sure, the field is tightening so hopefully we'll see some good races this season.
Remember in 2021 when the talking point for Alpine was the size of it's Air Intakes.... 😁
Why doesn't F1 just stipulate a minimum paint requirement? Simple solution to the carbon liveries. Essentially forcing everyone to add an equal amount off weight in paint.
Boy I can’t wait for Andretti’s livery reveal next year!
Oh wait
Mark my words Williams and Stake or whatever that team is called going to finish ahead of alpine
15 hp is worth half a second of lap time? That seems a bit extreme
Remember, Ferrari lacked about 30 horsepower in 2020, they were 6th in the WCC
McHonda lacked about 60 horsepower, they came 9th, twice
@@tommywang8229 Car speed diminishes roughly based on the cubic root of horsepower so 15 hp out of ~1000 is AT BEST a 1.5% improvement in lap time which would be ~0.15-2 s. In reality it'd be less than this. A slight modification to the downforce from the wing would easily be able to compensate for this.
To all newer fans you should remember this F1 liveries in the past is not like this... It is fully painted
So we have a Black and Blue car, another Black and Blue car, a Green and Black car, an Orange and Black car and a White and Black car so far. I wonder what the other teams will do with their colour schemes..
Just waiting for Mercedes reveal and the Race having to defend the all carbon with some stickers on the sidepods.
Unpopular opinion: I think it makes the cars look WAY better with exposed carbon and the livery colors taking second to the carbon.
Yesssss can’t wait for all these changes so that they’re slightly less mid 💪💪
The best things 2024 brings for us, we love it.
Great information shared in this video, I like it
The FIA should make a rule that each car has to have a certain amount of paint on it. That will stop teams from making their cars all black. If a team wants their car to be black, they can use black paint instead of leaving the carbon exposed.
this is completely deceptive and i believe four of the teams currently the using carbon exposed look without any paint 🤔
The Renault Alpine A424 LMH for me is the best looking LMH car in the entire 2024 LMH Field.
This video provides so much information
There needs to be a rule on a minimum paint weight on different parts of the car. Ensure aesthetics are retained and teams then won't get tactical with paint for weight balance
Seems super helpful to me!
If it’s true that Renault are finally leaving the F1 team alone, then it’s good knows. But the Renault board needs to be patient because the F1 team needs the space to make mistakes.
10 years into the turbo-hybrid era, and Renault still cannot build a competitive engine. That's insane
Bro, I love Alpine's front-end Wing and the aggressive look I never got a wrong feeling hence I think Alpine will be a challenger to the top ones...
What the car needs now is the lateral diffusers disguised as floor edge, to balance high-speed rear suction to the floor with a bit of escape valve through the sides, avoiding the back-bouncing and distributing the suction to the center, better for braking stability, if the loss at the rear can be controlled when braking
Personally, I think black is the absolute best color for the base of a virtually anything
From 4'29" in the video to 6'58", a good over 2 minutes talked about Renault/Alphine's behind the scene leadership structure/politics then we'll know how good this team is heading to.
This has aged well.
Alpine is the mountain literally, that must over for under mid teams to inter the top field although the Alpine it self never moves from there.
Renault had all of 2014-2021 to get their engine sorted. Ferrari went the smart way and gained lots of performance so they could still iron out the reliability through the "engine freeze" period. Its no excuse to come up with now that they still are lacking in power and reliability. If Honda managed to go from backmarker to champions in 4 years alone it says that Renault have been napping
Pat Fry’s criticism was definitely cutting. That’s said, with all the new investors recently, I can’t imagine they will tolerate treading water for too long. I think they could be an interesting watch moving forward.
Am I the only one who disagrees and thinks this alpine is the best looking one they've done? Yeah their previous liveries had more colour and looked kinda good at first glance, but those colours became an eye saw on tv imo, I think this car will look so much better
Yeah, F1 should probably tighten its livery rules in order for drivers, and now teams, to be more identifiable.
1. Have a minimum non-carbon coverage. It adds weight, sure, but it’s the same for everyone.
2. Force teams to have significant differences between cars so they can be identified immediately. Ever since drivers started having intricate helmet designs that don’t render well on TV, and change them like it’s fast fashion, it’s been hard to identify competitors, which is subpar in a commercial, personality-driven sport. The T cam isn’t sufficient. I get that the nose might be tricky given they do get changed during races, but maybe rear wing, halo, or even full on reverse colors (like NA team sports have a solid and light jersey variants).
3. Increase number size. It should be blatant.
Personally the bare carbon is very clean with the current liveries, maybe if F1 didn't ban tobacco sponsors, we'd have a lot more crazy liveries like the 90s had...
Alpine and its management struggles. Their leadership hierarchy is so confusing.
The fia should introduce a rule that requires a minimum percentage of the cars to be painted.
These reg changes be crazy, who knew space ships were street legal now
Referring to the engine regulation penalty taking a new engine should not count towards the allowance if you suffer a dnf as a result of and engine failure. This would allow teams to run at a higher rate knowing they won’t have to suffer a potential dnf and grid penalties later in the season
The Black F1 Grid. I can't wait to see all the UA-camrs comment on how the Black Ferrari looked amazing.
Must be said definitely compromise the front nose and side pods inlets. Potentially have to update and adapt it and do better job. Definitely in that regard on back foot why the car is carbon fibre entirely maybe because the new nose and side pods add too much estimated weight. 🤔🤷 I don't know? Just what I was thinking?
Maybe the Race should stick to the facts rather than speculation
is it me or has his voice picked up an octave and is really fast. I think we've moved beyond caffeine.
I think the exposed carbon should be limited team identification is the most important part of an f1 and sponsor partnerships
The F1 grid should not be allowed to have a car with hardly any livery. Carbon on the suspension nothing more. The wings and main bodywork should be painted.
That car is flatter than the budget paddock ciders, go Alfredo!
Pretty soon, every car on the grid will be a native flat black, and Sky will just superimpose the individual livery digitally during the broadcast. Then the teams can sell different livery rights in every different broadcast region.
Livery is seriously missing more pink colour.
I Want the PINK Panthers!!!
I’m amazed at how often this line that that performance will now be achieved because corporates within a car company now won’t be interfering with the race team organisation. Seriously, have we not known this since Jaguar sold to Red Bull at the beginning of 2005?!?! Since Toyota pulled out at the end of 2009?!? Distinctly remember the press going gaga over the new management structure implemented at Ferrari under Binotto being a return to the Todt-era and how amazing it would be. All it did was produce illegal cars and others that were slower than Mercedes and Red Bull. As Newey showed at Red Bull, the key is the people and the talent they bring to a team.
Where's the Williams video.?
6:45 Is that Mick Schumacher?
Yes. He's driving for Alpine in the Hypercar also introduced in this launch.
Reminds me of a older f2
Deceptive, yes. It's actually a unicycle
🚨| Alpine's black livery will be used at EIGHT races in 2024.
The other sixteen races will have the black livery.
not doing a breakdown on the williams? only a short?
More carbon fiber, less paint means the driver can have an extra half sandwich before the race
A topic that I'd really like to hear The Race talkabout is the body weight of the drivers. I mean, if they're allgoing to black carbon to save weight - does that mean that someone like Tsunoda has a kg advantage purely due to this size. How tight are the margins? Paint vs human weight? 🤔
Personally done with BWT demanding a large presence of pink on the car. The Hypercar looks like an Alpine the F1 car looks like an advert for BWT.
I actually don't mind the livery I just don't like it because every team is doing the same thing so it's not special. There needs to be a minimum paint limit so the cars are colourful again
Is it deceptive because it hints at potential but will most likely disappoint?
Longs are the days since Renault could be said was an upgrade over Honda how the tables turn
There needs to be a new regulation introduced, whereby 70% of the aero surfaces need to be painted with only 30% bare carbon.
If a team wants a predominantly black car then it must be painted/wrapped in black.
Did they improve the engine? Alpine said it was down 50 to 60 hp last year compared to Mercedes, Ferrari and Honda
No, actually they said that they were down 30hp, the FIA said they were down maybe 20hp and said it wasn't enough to let them fix it.
I'm not going to be able to tell any of these teams apart this year
Deceptive? Alpine: “ we expect to be at the front, we have lowered the weight by 3 lbs” Mid season: “:we had potential”
Same as last 4 years
I quite like the less paint, more raw carbon look of this season's cars.
All of this to end up eight for the constructors, absolute classic.
5:52 mark need to put the French Government above Luca de Meo :)
I think the liveries this year are so far quite good. Last year had two all-blue teams that looked the same, alpha tauri had probably the worst livery i can remember in 2023 and from a distance i couldn't tell the Haas and Alpha tauri apart, even on tv they looked the same. I think alpine looks quite finished and doesn't just seem like blue with a sponsor on it.
Alpine will be fighting for p7
I don’t get too disappointed by seeing very carbon exposed liveries, it is what it is and tbh the alpine livery is my second favorite so far
Mic Schumacher is Alpine mechanic now? 10:58
Lol. I thought that was some guy who looked like him, I didn't actually think it was him.@@Lindemann0815
COME-ON!! there has to be a rule that states minimum 80 percent of the car needs paint, very very disappointing 😢😮 terrible 😑
I think F1 needs rules similar to WEC where aero design is less restrictive but the FIA employs balance of performance tests like max downforce load, min drag coefficient, DRS efficiency and wake production etc to make sure no teams car has an unfair advantage. I am getting bored of seeing 18 RB19 clones and F1 looking more and more like a one make championship a kin to Formula E or Indycar.
What teams in F1 have an unfair advantage? The teams that build the best car? You know, the whole point of the championship?
@@generaldreagonlps6889well winning all the races kinda falls under the advantage area. Winning races closely is one thing, but winning by 20-30 seconds on the field is another..

Looks slippery Otmar just don't crash it!
I literally have nothing good to say about all of the liveries so far. They're all just a bunch of bare carbon cars with a little bit of advertising color on it. This has been such a disappointing season!
Have to say it was pretty comical when they had the build up to showing off the second, pink car, and then they pull off the sheet and about 10% of the car is actually pink 😂
