    great! I was there that day, Salle de la Madelaine, I had a small Fiesole Plaque with a pastoral scene which was valued then at 5000 Belgian francs, about 100 GBP. I still own it.

    My God! What totally beautiful, charming women! I'm going to move to Belgium - not just for the chocolate.

    I agree! All the women are so beautiful and charming, whether Belgian, British or American.
    They are not playing football in that watercolour - that's a real gaffe. They are playing keeping a wicker ball in the air.

    Currency confusion: This episode was aired on 16 April 1995. The European Economic Community (EEC) was formed in 1957, and the UK joined the EEC in 1973. The EEC became the EU in 1993 and adopted the use of the Euro in 1999. The UK has continued to opt out of the use of the Euro.

      Yeah well, by now they opted out completely...

    At 28:50, "could be a phoenix, could be an eagle, or possibly a swan" resting on an "some exotic-looking fruit..." Was the symbolism so vague or was the expert's knowledge lacking? Does this analysis seem more vague than usual to anyone else?

    The word modern is only good for a day. Who knows what they'll call it tomorrow.

    The way the appraisers handle the peoples objects is appalling.

    • @elstongunn4277
      @elstongunn4277 Рік тому +1

      Really? Do you think they should be wearing white gloves? Or do you think they were too rough in their handling?

    • @viviennehayes2856

      They are probably very used to handling precious objects, are extremely careful and also very confident, which might come across as too confident.
