Everyone in the UA-cam knife collecting scene will say that traditional knives have been making a comeback. I would say that most of the world has been using them all along. Normal people don’t own 50 or more knives that cost hundreds of dollars each, they just pick something up from a hardware or department store. Now that more companies are offering up expensive traditionals made with “high end” materials, we who have had our brains broken by collecting can buy them up and feel good about our superior taste in cutlery and impressive hoards. I do love all the new interpretations on classic patterns! Thanks for the topic, and vid!
They all are great. I’m a little surprised at how much I love the Qvist. I carry it most days even if I carry another slip joint. It’s so small it’s not a problem. It cuts so good. It’s just awesome even though so small. Like I said though every one of those are fantastic. I also just received the Tactile Bexar. It’s great too. I’m still just getting used to it but I’m very happy with it so far. It’s kind of cool to have a slip joint with Magnacut. Thanks Dude!
Dood me too! I was surprised how much I like the Vanish. I carry it a lot. I’m jealous of that Bexar! How’s the walk & talk? It looks super thin. $200 is a deal
That hedgehog is so freaking tempting. I kinda wish I would have snagged the normal size jigged titanium penguin when it was available.. they really do a nice job with those finishes.
Far above my old sod buster. Makes me want to get back into the slip joint game. That's a refreshing look especially in the ball bearing, drop shutty age of pocket knives we're in currently (I like those too). This video makes me want to switch it up on my next few blade purchases. Great look!
Loved the base hedgehog so much i bought the fat carbon version just for keeps, then I saw the Ti version...had to get that. I still use the base micarta everyday for my apples and after more than 3 or 4 months I only ever stropped it once every other week. When they say it's the geometry that cuts...
Man, these all look killer! I love slip joints, but I will say one thing I don’t like about these is they make the modern ones way too big. These are like the size of liner locks. I think that’s the joy of caring a slip joint is that it’s small. These all look so good, I just wish they made them a little smaller and it would be perfect.
So what’s your main use for a slipjoint? I’ve always been a one knife kind of guy. But recently been feeling the pull to carry a traditional over a modern folding knife.
I carry a main knife and a slipjoint. The slipjoint is usually the opposite blade shape of my main carry. For example if I’m carrying a Shaman, I’ll carry a wharnie slipjoint for when I want to do more detailed utility cuts. It’s nice to have options. Plus I just like slipjoints so it’s fun to have one to cut with. 🤠
@@doodysdaggers Where you guys get the money to friggin buy all these knives, I can't even guess. Jack Wolf makes some smaller ones

Only when I'm alone
Man I wish they would do another run of those ti Ohio river jack. I missed out on those
I know it’s sad they’re gone..
Are slip joins more dangerous to operate? I mostly fidget and I would like to get one to add to my collection
I guess technically. But I’ve cut myself more often on locking knives
A good slipjoint with nice action is definitely fidgety
Hey Doody you ever checked out the Monterey Bay Knives Ironhorse? It’s a modern slip joint made with k390 and has a wicked thin edge!
I’m familiar with MBK but not that model! I’ll have to check it out, sounds awesome
If I have a leather slip that's a little beat up, is mink oil what I need?
That would work, or linseed oil
