Liza appeared only to advertise her play. No other reason at all for her appearance. Lol and oh boy would people back in 1965 faint if they knew all the pay for views UFC fights I’ve paid for. And how a lot of them were $80 to $100 for a less then a minute fight.
Here is another example of the special guest who does next to nothing during the celebrity segment of the show. I don't know why the producers brought in major stars to appear, only to end up doing something that could be done just as well without them.
Because doing so without them wouldn't have the same impact. Their celebrity was the point.
Why did they even have Liza on? She hardly did anything!
But that's typical with a lot of the famous guests
If you listened to Steve...she was the star of the musical FLORA, THE RED MENACE (dressed as she was in the show). While it ended up having a short run, she won the Best Actress in a Musical Tony--at the age of 19.
Because she had something to plug and they needed a celebrity guest.
