I moved out of Croydon and the UK altogether in 2019. Coming here reminds of my days travelling by train, i have to say Phil Sayer was making the best announcements at East Croydon, Purley and many others. The day I left i boarded at Riddlesdown with a single ticket to Gatwick Airport and changed at East Croydon
@@Parallel395 platform 4 and 3 there a few shelters at the northern end of the platform that blast the announcements through the speakers in it really loud

Yes, I’m not a fan of via points unless there are multiple routes to the same destination. Not sure if there are between East Croydon and Reigate. Eastbourne and Ore via Eastbourne is another!
@@Parallel395 the piont he was making is that you cant get to reighete via three bridges and that service does not go through three birdges there is obvoulisy some mistake on the system
I guess they just wanted it announced as many from south stations will be travelling there rather than to Peterborough or Bedford. The same way GWR announce Severn Beach via Clifton Down despite there not being an alternative route!
I think it's to tell the passengers it goes through London bridge instead of elephant and castle as iirc you could get TL from east Croydon through elephant and castle but not anymore
