I built two of these last Fall. They've worked great so far . I have them hanging from a steel cable that I have connected from a tree to my fence ( to keep the critters from getting into them.) I made some adjustments to the hole sizes to accommodate my seed. Thanks so much for sharing your idea.
Great idea steve and very robust. I am going to modify it slightly. I am going to cut a hole in the bottom of a round hanging basket. Turn it upside down and slide it over the pipe onto the tray. The smaller birs will be able to get at the seed but it will keep the large birds, crows and birds of prey from picking them off lol
I tell you what I think my friend! Great Idea! Thanks for sharing it! I just started feeding the birds around my backyard early this summer and I have been amazed at what I didn't know was here! It all began, when two little birds fell out of a nest that we couldn't reach to put them back into! I was able to raise them both and return them to the "wilds" of the back yard and from there, it bloomed into a "Hobby"! :)
That's awesome. I feed the birds and the squirrels . I also show how to feed the squirrels with a squirrel feeder I designed and they stay away from the bird feeder . Check out my fearthered & furry playlist for more ideas if you like. Cheers Titus

I threw the feeder away and squirrels started throwing pinecone cores down on me when I walked out of my house.

Great looking feeder! What a great idea using the pizza crisper as the seed tray. With a coat of paint, it almost looks store-bought. Awesome job! 👍👍👍👍
I made large capacity bird feeders from ABS 40 years ago. I ran into a problem almost immediately! Squirrels! As hard as it may be to believe, those little devils would chew the holes open. Solution was to get large metal washers, bend then slightly to match the curvature of the pipe and screw them over the ports. Those feeders lasted me for 20 years or so. I retired them when they were no longer needed.
This looks like a good solution, cheap, durable and fairly easy to execute. I'm done buying "cute" feeders that don't last, so this will be my next project. Thanks for sharing the video!!

Cheap and easy, that's how I like a lot of things! The birds here go through a ton of black sunflower seeds in our bird feeder. Gromit gets pretty agitated when he watches them out the window. He's a vicious bird killing machine if he gets the chance. I was walking out of the garage a couple summers ago and came out just in time to watch him come tearing out of the bush he hides in, run half way across the yard, leap about five feet into the air and snag a bird that dared to do a low altitude fly by of my yard. I managed to grab him before he finished the bird off. I put the bird in a box in the dark with some water for about an hour, then released him out front. He was totally unresponsive when I got him away from Gromit. Like he was playing dead or something.

Did I miss where you explained why not to fix the plate to the bottom cap before cementing? Nice and simple either way, I've got. Bunch of PVC left over from a plumbing Reno, planning to make a bunch and give to the neighbors
Well its nice to be able to clean it out over time as the seed will be affected by the moisture unless your in the desert. I like to wash it out once in a while so no mould builds up. You can fasten it solid if you like but just put some caulking around the base to seal it tight so no seeds get uner the base.

@@SteveRobReviews For the life of me I could not find that dam pizza pan with the holes in it. I looked in 6 stores yesterday and not one had it. So for now i am going to use a 5 gallon bucket lid with some small holes until I can find it. We don't get much rain here in Phoenix Arizona so shouldn't be much of a problem for the time being. Thanks Mike it was an idea I will do again. Cheers
Great video chief!
Thanks 👍
I think that is a great idea. Looks great.
Thanks John, much appreciated.
💓ed the keep it simple ideas, 👍AWESOME video. 👏loved it.
Thanks much appreciated.
Very good. I'm gonna build one today.
Go for it!
Very nice steve. Have a great day.
Thanks Danny you have a great day too.
Absolutely great video. You've got a new subscriber. Cheers from Nova Scotia.
Thanks Kenny 👍
I've been looking for you on Instagram but can't seem to find you.
Kenny I was on Instagram but I left it , just youtube for now . 👍
Great idea Steve, I see you listen to the boss on the pin...lol..... Cheers.
LOL, dont we all eh Ron. Cheers bud
Great idea and a cool fun project that even I could do 🤣. Thanks Thanks Buddy!
Well there's a project and maybe a birdhouse for the outdoors . Outdoor crafts are huge and unique ones even better. You and Jamie with a segment with outdoor crafts , oh ya that a keeper :)
Any ideas on how to include some side ports with a perch so birds can feed further up the tube?
I thought about that too but in the end I tried just the platform as it fits about 10 birds easy from what I see everyday so I left it as is 😅
You never argue with the wife! 😅🙃😊
👍
Good evening Sir, very good idea !!! Cheers !!!
Thanks Dave , fun project for all to do. Cheers
@@SteveRobReviews Steeve you get me thinking for shure !!! ( i have to redo some of my birds feeder and i have many left over ABS tube !!! ) LOL

@@SteveRobReviews I will for sure, nice project to do with Marie Ange !!! Thank you Cheers !!!
This is an awesome birdfeeder. I am going to try this.
The birds will love it . 👍
Great idea, good info an instruction
Glad you liked it
Great job Steve the finished version (painted) is better looking than store bought.
I want to add couple more holes higher up with some kind of baffle inside and perch, what do you think Mr Steve?
Greg I thought of that too but decided not too because the tray is just full of birds as it is :). I fill this once a week and sometimes when its real cold I only get 4 - 5 days on seed.
@@SteveRobReviews Thanks Steve !
I love it I just worry about the squirrels they are so rough now day get to the food no matter what
Thanks Felicia , I have many videos about the squirrels 😅 They don't get into this feeder. Feel free to get some ideas -ua-cam.com/play/PLCpsODdJa_T7Bf2XsAikq8K5JdHjUUQ1v.html
Squirrel feeder😂
You make some neat things!
Thanks , just a hobby this youtube in my retirement years :)
Do the squirrels not jump on that from the roof? But definitly a great feeder idea! Thank you.
Oh boy do they 😂😂 I had to change things up because your right they are some smart and can jump a long ways. Cheers Tony.
@@SteveRobReviews Its a Love/Hate relationship with those critters. I don't mind feeding them... but they will sit on a feeder till its empty!
Good job. You could sell those easy.
Thanks Sharon 👍
Very fancy buddy 👍 lucky birdies
The birds love it , the vermin love it too :) Thanks bud.
Thanks for sharing! Might do this with the kids
Go for it!
I had to use black abs and for the top I used a threaded slip on and then a threaded cap with the hanger in the middle. That way I can just un-thread the feeder to fill it. The kids are bird watchers now!
That will do just fine 👍
Nice squirrel feeder.
Oh yes the squirrels love it too :)
STEVE ROB REVIEWS no no squirrels only
Approximately how much general bird feed does a 24" hold?
About three quarts of seed .
I love it.
Thanks 👍
Good design
The top metal rod could be a metal tent peg and a clothes peg to hold the other end.
👍
Looks good 👍
Thanks Paul , the birds love it .
It’s a great bird feeder…😍
Thanks Ruth , much appreciated.
Best I've seen yet. Nice idea.
Glad you like it! Thanks
@@SteveRobReviews I went into the garage and built a somewhat similar one right after viewing!
