Thank you for your thoughts. In the commentary for Thomas 9 I cover how the sayings were used by the authors of the NT. However, they changed the context, & therefore meaning, of these pearls. Looking to the Bible to decipher Thomas is not wise, because it is analogous to putting the cart before the horse. Yeshua’s teachings supersede what we find in the Old Testament, hence we can only use His words (not the words of men) to unlock their meaning. I bow to the divine in you 🙏🏼

To understand Thomas 106, as with many sayings in Thomas, you have understand that there are subtle threads that link various sayings. Thomas 22 is the thread & key here. The lion represents the physical/ material realm, including ego, which it produces from the day a human is born - ‘I want’, ‘I own’, ‘I need’ etc. When the human sees these things for what they are, they consume the lion & become wealthy, but if they do not, they remain the poverty - the lion. He came to bring you life and life more abundantly, he said so himself in scriptures many times. I believe his priority was for salvation for the lost....yes, no doubt....... but he didn't lay down his life for sin only, again he Jesus the Christ said I came to bring you life and life more abundantly. Ask yourself, why would he teach it if it was not so. What was the purpose of 33 years? The purpose was to teach. One of many things Christ said was.....test me and see ......I will open up the windows of heaven and pour you out blessings you are not able to contain. Another,..... He wills his children to PROSPER and be in good health.. If it was not so he the Christ would not have told you. If you are able to eat the lion ( your emotions) during your testing time of faith he the Christ will open up the Windows of heaven for you. Ask yourselft do you think Jesus the Christ and the father would rather see? You lose control? Or prosper? Its very clear that's why he included this knowledge into his teachings. Yeshua, among several reasons, came to release His contemporaries from the Law of the OT. So we must ignore those myths & legends, while also respecting the fact that without the Jewish culture we wouldn’t have Yeshua. The NT was written by Greek authors about 100+ years after His crucifixion. They were (mostly) interested in creating a Christian society. A group such as this requires rules to follow, they found these rules in the OT. Hence, we cannot rely on most of the NT. It is widely accepted that the Gospel of Thomas is the ‘missing’ Q-source that scholars believe was used to write the NT. I cover this topic in the commentary for Thomas 9.
