GAMAGUCHI is a bag that was introduced from Europe in the Meiji era. Today, it is thought to be Japanese, but GAMAGUCHI is actually an imported product from Europe.
It is easy to open with one hand, and when it is closed, it makes a light metallic sound.
The name GAMAGUCHI was given because the opening of the bag looks like a toad.
"AYANOKOJI" located on the east side of Heian Jingu Shrine opened in 2010 as a GAMAGUCHI specialty store. In addition to their standard products such as coin purses and pouches, the store also sells 3-way backpacks that can be used in a variety of situations, from business to daily life, as well as iPads and book covers. There are more than 100 kinds of products.
The owner of this shop is the main character of this video. He is TOSHIRO OKU.
He founded a company that manufactures and sells accessories and bags in Kyoto, where he was born and raised. He has repeated trial and error in order to respond to various requests from customers. In the process, he focused on GAMAGUCHI, which was well received by customers. He continues to create many GAMAGUCHI products to this day.
GAMAGUCHI sold at "AYANOKOJI" is hand-made by craftsmen one by one. Every day, OKU works with staff to develop new products.
In February 2020, OKU announced a new product to further expand the appeal of GAMAGUCHI. What is the new GAMAGUCHI concept? And what does OKU think about the possibility of the GAMAGUCHI type?
