@@lynnesunshine No the lemon juice is just to break up the leftover gunk after the water is distilled . It is hard to scrub it out but the lemon juice breaks it up somehow. We do add a pinch of salt to our water after we distill it as electrolytes

I’ve been using one of these for almost a decade now. Tap water here in NYC is filthy. One thing I will say, distilled water doesn’t hydrate you properly. Both my and my dog’s health improved greatly after ionizing the distilled water in a cheap homemade ionizer. Dog had a bunch of rashes, dry skin, etc., that cleared up immediately once we stopped drinking the distilled water straight. The distilled water tastes ‘flat’, no matter even if you remineralize it. The ionized water tastes ‘full’.
Would you be so open to elaborate more on the ionizating.I use the megahome only thing i do is add quality salt.I am aware the wather is empty so i put a lemon in some,some i use for tea etc just to minimaze the problem but i am aware thats not the best way.At the moment I am doing research now how to make the water better as possible.If you could give your input i would gladly return the favour here when i get to the bottom of my research and give u and all the info i gathered.
Be extreamly carefull with the water and the sink no water must drip down the sides there have been a lot of cases of shorting around the switch as water gets in as it drips down the sides. they should have sealed it but on most models they dont. basicly if you want your disstiller and glass jug to survive they need to be treated with care. another very handy tip is dont wait for the termostat to turn it off instead put it on a timer, they are cheap and realible and will save on the electric, get it to cut out early that way it wont boil down to the bottom and its easyer to clean and less damage on the element. why they dont have this feature on any of the disstilers i have seen and i have seen a lot stumps me.

To clean distiller effortlessly just pour regular vinegar and let sit overnight and you can use vinegar over and over again.i use an 8 gallon precision distiller and that's how I clean out the online chamber.Be sure to rinse the chamber after you remove the vinegar or you will encounter a slight vinegar after taste.ive been distilling 45 years and found vinegar the best and no effort to scrub
also you can use citric acid and it works very well also, probably the cleaner the sell on their website, you can clean a ton of still with it to, look it up, not very expensive and also amazon carries it. great for cleaning toilet tanks and anything that has hard water build up and rust

If your distiller turns brown after a single use your water is too dirty. This could be from corroded pipes. Buy a 3 stage water filter then distill the water. The water will be perfect and you will have to clean it less.

@@ryankeighron once a month. Once a month I change the charcoal filter and use the citric acid that comes with the package to clean the distiller. However after every use you want to let the unit cool down and use some soap and a sponge to wash the inside of distiller or your water will taste weird.

Distilled bottle water has zero or one ppm, I need distilled water to make collodial silver and if the p p m is over 1 you can't use it, fine to drink but won't work for me
It is pretty convenient to let the distiller just run its course. Having to manually turn it off to avoid residue sticking to the tank is a hassle. I wish the distiller turned itself off with some water still in it. I don't know whether a relevant sensor is expensive or they want to make money on cleaning products.
I believe the different “ impurities” within water evaporate at different temperatures so some escape with the first of the distilled water.. or could be used as a step 2 precaution
The filters are for the VOCs like pesticides and other chemicals that boil off before the water does. Instead of the filters I’ve also read that you can just throw out the first bit of what collects.

I had the same issue, but with another distiller I bought off aliexpres. The seller adviced me to take off the top lid, put it upside down on the table, and pour inside the little hole through which the vapour goes, a mix of water and citric acid(also vinegar works). The water used in this should be boiling hot. Then I cover the whole thing with a plate(tap), and let it rest for 12 h. That strange taste only partially was removed, though I did it only twice. But the water tastes much better.

Yes, I’ve tried a few times without the charcoal filter, with same results. I even tried to double up the filter. I have double steamed the water and got it to 2ppm or so. From what I found is that you can start the distilling, after about 45 min. you can dump out what you have distilled, that is the most contaminated. Then you’ll be left with 3/4 gallon of 2-4 ppm then double steam that.. I’ve looked for the perfect distiller for a while and all work very similar.. but then again I bought distilled water forever and it was always 0ppm.

I think it’s an additional filtering step.. different particles in water evaporate at different temperatures… some particles are included with initial evaporation and the carbon filters those out. I think this is what it’s for…. I could be wrong.
Something is very wrong. Distilled water should be showing 0 PPM . I wonder if it has something to do with that unnecessary cartridge at the drip point.
No minerals but you're also not getting any chemicals leaching into the water from the plastic. I can't say wether the amount that leaches has any effect on the human body but if I can avoid it I will.

As I would prefer to drink clean water that has been distilled, and not bottled water that does not quench the thirst, is thick and heavy and lacking in oxygen, and smells and tastes the like plastic it comes in! Only thing I can think of is chemical burn off or something like that. Maybe there’s residue from the manufacturer that’s in there and the heating process introduces it to the water? That’s the only thing I can think of but after a 5-8 gallons it taste really good.
Hi i have my distiller on as many times as i can letting it cool after a while i put 1 boiled kettle of tap water in it fill a jar as i broke my jug ive had mine for 4 years and it gets used i love it its not heavy on the electricity but i di have a pre paid meter a key i charge up as quarterly bills are just not true 15 t0 20 £ a week on eldctricity not bad at all free energy is coming 💚✨💚
thats only when you buy a brand new one, after the 3rd distill, just do once. Its basically just cleaning out everything so your not drinking anything last behind from manufacturing.
I'm currently building a survival water distiller that will fit in a metal drinking bottle that's capable of allowing you to distil pretty much anything, even your own urine back to clear drinkable water.. Of course, it requires a wood, gas or alcohol fire to start the process..
What good is this going to do you if we have a power outage? It's also useless in A SHTF SITUATION. i wouldn't think about doing this and spending that kind of time or money doing so, he'll you can buy a gallon of distilled water at the store for a dollar. You can also just use a 3 or more gallon stock pot with a curved and handled glass or metal lid and put wooden or plastic bowl in the pot To catch the distilled steam that drops from the curved lid and handle!!l There are lots of cheap and long time reliable means to get fresh clean water or distilled water.!!

Use lemon juice so you don't have to scrub or use timers for the crud that hardens. Lemon juice makes everything liquid form.
Vinegar works good too I hear. But have not tried it yet.

Exactly. To make Silver water right you need super clean containers, 000 reading and temperature over around 74 degrees is good too...

All lies to keep you from drinking it. You can add trace minerals back, smartwater is distilled with minerals.
Thing is you don't really depend on water to get the minerals. Your diet should be enough.

This is the lowest watt usage of the distillers at 585watt. Some are up to 900watt! The average kettle is 2kw+

i wouldn't think about doing this and spending that kind of time or money doing so, he'll you can buy a gallon of distilled water at the store for a dollar.
You can also just use a 3 or more gallon stock pot with a curved and handled glass or metal lid and put wooden or plastic bowl in the pot
To catch the distilled steam that drops from the curved lid and handle!!l
There are lots of cheap and long time reliable means to get fresh clean water or distilled water.!!
You run along and do that then, always remember to stay positive :)
