Canada’s provincial and territorial premiers, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and federal ministers speak with reporters following a first ministers’ meeting in Ottawa. The prime minister makes a brief statement regarding the Gaza ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas.
PM Trudeau and premiers outline the need for a united front as the best way forward to respond to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats. They react to Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s opposition to the possibility of restricting her province's energy exports as a retaliatory measure to the tariffs.
