- Canada’s provincial and territorial premiers, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and federal ministers speak with reporters following a first ministers’ meeting in Ottawa. The prime minister makes a brief statement regarding the Gaza ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas.
PM Trudeau and premiers outline the need for a united front as the best way forward to respond to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats. They react to Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s opposition to the possibility of restricting her province's energy exports as a retaliatory measure to the tariffs.
Taking questions from reporters are PM Trudeau as well as Premiers Doug Ford (Ontario), François Legault (Quebec), Scott Moe (Saskatchewan), Ranj Pillai (Yukon) and Wab Kinew (Manitoba).
