    This video is better than the others, cuz it showed the exact colurs!

  • @SkyTheLeafeon
    @SkyTheLeafeon Рік тому +6

    These colors are paid close attention to whenever fireworks are made; certain amounts of certain elements are used in order to make certain colors and effects.
    Magnesium is used in strobes, for instance (which is why they flash white, and very brightly).

    It was really good. In other videos, especially the flame color of barium ion is not prominently shown. But here the flame color of every metal ion was perfect and nicely shown. Thank you

    I think this is also why copper based blood like in horseshoe crabs appears to be greenish-blue since copper gives off cyan light when oxidized.

    What about if two of the metallic ions , lithium nitrate and strontium nitrate are both red in flame, and the unknown to be identified is also red?

    • @andrewtsang248
      @andrewtsang248 9 років тому +4

      Use a solubility table to determine which anions would cause a precipitate with only one of them.
      Mix the unknown with a solution containing this anion, and see which one if it precipitates or not.
      e.g. you could use sodium carbonate. Only the strontium will form a precipitate. Lithium will stay aqueous. Mix the unknown with a solution of sodium carbonate (make sure that the concentration is not too weak). If it precipitates, it is strontium
