  • This is the prototype of a heavy duty V-wing ditcher, designed and built by Jeff Penner of J.R.P. Farms (Swan River, Manitoba). This video shows a bit more footage of the monster machine in the field ...

Its always good to hear from people like zjbeast, give me a ring sometime! its funny you mention it cause i started fooling around with small machines and found if done geometricly correct a small machine can accomplish a lot! it is real interesting to me just talking with different people and invisioning what they were thinking when they say.... one i can use with my craftsman! Anything is possible!

The deere 9630 pulls this rig very nice! we had GPS autograde installed and wow! its nice to only remove a minimum amount! there is a few low res videos taken with a cell phone under jd 9630 pulling v-wing!

@cormus1 yes i built this rig so we dont have to seed over every run 5 times to get some seed into the ground! and the added bonus of a ditch that you dont have to slow down for or by mistake hit in the dark and cause damage! another benefit is that it can make a flat bottom ditch that actually reduces erosion drasticly!

Still cheaper than a new scraper and yu get 20 times more done! (base unit is around 130k) anybody that has actually seen this machine in the field will agree its hard to beat how smooth of a job this thing does.

Feel free to leave comments on this new innovation! i am planning on having some units available for late summer or fall delivery! also if you want to see a live demonstration we will be holding a few events this summer so you can see this massive machine in action! My contact information is at the end of the clip!
    Thank-you, Jeff Penner

@jrpnnr Total stream cross section (which is width and height) x average stream velocity (basically the speed of the water) = total stream discharge. This means if there is sufficient runoff to fill the channel, a 3 foot wide channel will carry at least 3 times more than a 1 foot channel. More water in the channel at one time means that it will increase flows down the watershed. If I were the RM or the downstream landowners, I would have serious concerns for my roads, infrastructure, and land.

What a monstrosity! I heard this costs $150,000! It doesn't leave a very nice ditch, lots of lumps

my question is why move that much dirt for a v ditch

@Slammy2010 this machine slows down the water! its more than 3 feet wide! farmers are not trying to drain lake winnipegosis they are simply trying to maintain their landbase and yes this isnt the first or the last flood manitobans will see! RM infrastructure needs to maintain as well just as farmers should! Roads are blocking the natural flow of water so simple maintenence working within water stewardship guidelines is needed for the sustainability of todays farmer!

Whats the minimum horsepower, weight, to pull one of these ?

I was looking for a "Ditch Digger" Video for drainage - this thing seems to be more of a disc or a tiller pardon my lack of proper terms I'm a back yard gardner. Massive Machine but seems extremely expensive

That's what we need, more drainage. Our lakes in Manitoba just aren't full enough and we have way too many wetlands. Don't you think that speeding up the water will help slow down the erosion? At least other farmers and RM infrastructure won't be affected by faster flows downstream. Yay for drainage! It'll be so much nicer when there are just four of five large farmers in the province and everyone else can move to the city, then we could drain the entire province to feed them.

Ya it needs a real tractor to pull it, nice unit though.

@Slammy2010 I would say that it is obvious that you are not a farmer. The fact is that farmers are only draining pot hols that are very small bodies of water not much bigger than a swiming pool. A farmers job is to feed people of the world and with cities expanding using up very fertile farming land it is important to make all the land on a farm productive. A pot hole is waste land where only mosquitoes can hatch. By making pot holes productive the farmers are saving the rain forests

Spamming other people's promotional videos is very shifty. Just like Barry Lincoln's business practises from what I hear.
