Built in the 17th century and located in southern France, the Canal du Midi is one of Europe's oldest canals still in operation and a UNESCO World Heritage site. For a long time, the canal served to transport merchandise. Today, amateur boaters can be spotted on the barges of this calm stretch of water. With 63 locks and hundreds of bridges, there's always something to admire. FRANCE 24 takes you on a tour of this centuries-old waterway.

Speed limit is 8kph not 20kph
Saw a jet ski at the malpas tunnel doing 50 kph in 2018
There’s a path beside the canal. You can bike it. That’s what I did.
Plenty of sunshine, wine and good food:)
What is the maximum beam and height to travel canals please.
Need to have a yacht to enjoy it.
Just love the lazy life on the canal
I agree, 20kph is ridiculous. I've cruised the entire length from near Bordeaux to Sete and back. Not my favorite canal, I would suggest the Burgundy loop. Much more scenic. Midi can get very hot.

20kph speed limit!!!! What rubbish. The limit is 8kph. Hire boats trying to go 20kph is on of the main problems on the Midi. Get your facts straight.
Is there a tour company offering a package tour for this?
would have liked this but for the 20kph nonsense
👌👌
Power to Ukraine force's 😁
