😢Many churches in the area made the announcement this morning about providing aid. Local Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran and independent churches announced the call for help.The East District Wesleyan Churches sent out the information, and the West District Wesleyan Churches did as well. It's even on the Oak Island pages , also in Wilkesboro, in Mt. Airy, and who knows where else now. Pray for support to come in that the community provides and for those that have also volunteered to bring additional vehicles if necessary.
Hey Wayne, we just talked to the pastor in Canton and the city is in a bad way. They don't have water and they are turning their fellowship hall into a relief station. They do need the water, but she texted me and said the following... We also need nonperishable foods. Individually wrapped things like crackers, chips, popTarts, snack bars, jerkey, nuts. as well as blankets/pillows, etc.
Thanks so much. Our power came back on about 2:30 am this morning. We are one of a few folks with power. McAdenville Wesleyan brought 2 trucks of water to us today and we have already given out about half of it and are taking as much as would fit in our Suburban to Canton tomorrow. I did see where they are forecasting another storm coming next weekend along the same path as this one. Please pray that doesn't happen. I'm not sure how much more this area can take. If it comes, there may not be much of WNC left. You need to watch it as well, because you don't need to be driving up here in that kind of storm if it comes in on Saturday like they are saying it could. Thanks so much for all your help in this Mountain Relief Effort. If the storm does come in, the supplies you collect will be needed even more.

Many have lost everything, many have a home but no job place to return too. Many have lost all means of travel and many lives lost. Many are missing. You have no idea how bad it is. At Bethel we have power and only a very few have power. We are providing hot meals for storm victims here. A shelter is opening just down the road and Bethel is the distribution hub for at least 2 other relief shelters. There is a few gas stations getting daily deliveries of fuel but it’s a 5 hour wait for 10 gallons and only cash accepted. The only operational ATM has a 5 hour wait to use and limits the amount of cash you can get. Here’s what they need: Needed items: wooden matches, lighters, candles, manual can openers, canned food, water, toothbrushes, toothpaste soap and shampoo in the travel sizes. First aid kits, packs of T-shirts (all sizes), packs of socks, granola bars, jerky, crackers and soup, diapers, baby food, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, Clorox wipes, bleach,kerosene lamps and oil, peanuts & cashews in individual packages, pillows, blankets, pop tarts, snack bars and much needed prayer. Paper plates and plastic forks and spoons
Anyone wanting to donate to the Midway Wesleyan Mountain Relief Project: We need all donations by 5 pm Friday. We will load all goods beginning Friday evening and leave at 4am Saturday morning. Bethel Wesleyan Church is going to become the HUB to get supplies too and then dispersed from there.
