I agree. At first I was turned off by it but then I went back to see the exact words he growled. I believe he was emphasising that epic line.

Death metal growls in the Vienna Waltz "O Holy Night". I have already seen professional dancers dancing to this song. But with Dan's baritone, both haunting and clear, that would reach a new level. Amidst dark tones, the word "peace" rings high and clear. Victor The Guitar Nerd, is brilliant. His solo reminds me of some of the greatest guitar solos of all time.
Dan, with artistic mastery, weaves a tapestry of delightful or frightening sound surprises into the song, placing them to amplify the meaning of the lyrics. His captivating mix of clear and distorted vocals with a timbre that I never have heard before makes this song truly irresistible.

The devil will absolutely not praise God until the time when every knee shall bend and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of All. When Dan sings “praise His holy name. Christ is the Lord” it was Dan praising Jesus, not the devil singing. The growl is “vocal fry” and it’s common in heavy metal/death metal. He used to employ it more often in his days with his and his brother’s band “Fearless”. Hard to consider a Christian death metal band but there it is. “Fear not, saith the Lord”. Dan put in a bit of everything in this song but it was pure praise! I can’t stop listening to it.
Dan and Victor are such great metal musicians. They did a marvelous job on this Christmas Classic Carol. What an amazing performance!!!!! My best version of this song. I can't stop listening to it. So powerful, intense and captivating. Mindblowing. Thanks for your awesome reaction to this incredible masterpiece. I really loved it.
Love your reaction! I love Dan Vasc's music and was surprised, as were you, by him "digging up the dragons" as you so elegantly put it. The more I listen to it, the more I love it. I would never have thought I'd learn to love metal but I have been taught by Dan to see the power, passion and skill it takes to do this type of music. I'm glad to see you are on the mend. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I so love Dan Vasc's lower registers; I sometimes crave them and am so glad they are prominent in the first part of this. (Love sang down that low just gets to me.) Victor's playing sounded blues to you; I heard a hint of country! When Dan sang "peace" I heard Elvis Presley. Not everyone likes that guttural part in "Let all within us" but it is powerful to me. It feels to me that what happened that night is often portrayed as a pretty little fairy tale; Dan and Victor do not leave that option open for us. Dan's vocals emphasize that it was the Lord of Heaven and Earth and Eternity born that night. "Let all within in us praise His Holy Name!" That's the way to sing "Christ is the Lord!" Like an earthquake! These two geniuses! Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noel, Feliz Natal, Feliz Navidad, Buon Natale, God Jul!

Was worried when I didn't see your reaction shortly after this dropped. Glad you're ok. Notice the lyrics during that "earthquake" line, "let all within us praise his holy name", I and others have interpreted that to mean all the negative or sinful aspects will be exorcised and bow to his holy name. It's like the demons within us being cast out. After the initial shock was over I now love it. Also love this and all your reactions. You were one of the first I went to after Dan dropped this. SPOILER ALERT THOUGH... the musical instrument he plays in that was his dads and AG was his dads favorite gospel song. Also about a week after he lost his dad, he released AMERICAN TRILOGY as a tribute to his dad. That was his dads favorite Elvis song. It is so moving yet perfectly done through tears and great emotion.
Dan is a Christian metal singer. His band is named FEARLESS. He has written several songs straight from the Bible. Check out THE BOOK OF ANCIENT WISDOM by FEARLESS.
If you check the credits you will notice he does almost everything himself from videos to instrument and even harmonizing background vocals. His wide range of talent is amazing. Very hard working and intelligent as well as wise.

Fan Vasc put all his singing styles into this beautiful song and made it an EPIC worship anthem to The Lord imo! Thank you for your great reaction to Dan Vasc doing Dan Vasc things to music that makes it better! Can't forget Victors incredible instrumentals either! Btw, that delicate way that Dan sang, "peace," he has done before in some of his earlier videos, i.e. "Loch Lomond", "Priscilla's Song" non- metal version, "The Last Good- Bye" Billy Boyd cover from Lord of the Rings, and a few others❤ He simply has the most versatile and beautifully unique vocals imo.

Dan only put a fraction of his skills and singingstyles into that song he has way more tools in his toolbox than what he's using here.
And that soft hifg notes gospel singing he does in the word ''peace' is nothing like what he's done in any of those songs you mention.
Yes, he sings softly in those songs, but that phrasing he did in this one word was straight up gospelstyle singing, and that's new from him.
